• Though he's trying to play it down, Bill Parcells is definitely impressed by what he's seen from Anthony Fasano. Asked about what he expects from his tight ends, Parcells said, "Run, block and catch." He then added that Fasano had a chance to do all of those things well. Since Jason Witten is already among the top tight ends in football, the Cowboys might end up with one of the best tandems in the league.
• Pretty sure Parcells compared Flozell Adams to a St. Bernard during his news conference. Not that Adams saves travellers lost in the snow. He was just commenting on Adams' laidback demeanor. He pointed out that Adams was one of those guys who's been able to dominate since he was in junior high because he's so much bigger than everyone. Sometimes, that causes players to be passive. And that word has definitely applied to Adams in the past. What Parcells is hoping is that last year's knee injury sort of woke Adams up and made him realize he doesn't have that much time left. Parcells wants the guy he inherited in 2003. We'll see. • To my keen kicking eye (and with a little guidance from an expert), I'm able to tell you that Shaun Suisham (pronounced SWEE-zum) is the best kickoff guy in camp. If Mike Vanderjagt's not able to handle the duties, Suisham will get the first shot at winning the specialist job. He appears to have strengthened his leg in the off-season, but more importantly, his timing is better. • Parcells is growing tired of the Greg Ellis questions. As you've read here, Ellis has been working some at linebacker. He even spent some time covering T.O. on Monday. "I'm just trying to give him something that will increase the versatility of our defense," Parcells said of Ellis. • DeMarcus Ware is now one of the strongest players on the team, according to Parcells. He was asked today about his selection of Ware over San Diego linebacker Shawne Merriman in the 2005 draft. Parcells said they were about even and that either player would've succeeded in Dallas. • Parcells talked about how second-year wide receiver Jamaica Rector has made huge strides since last year's training camp. Rector spent last season on the practice squad. He saw work at receiver and cornerback. Rector (5-10, 186) is pound for pound the strongest player on the team, according to strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek, who said Rector is capable of bench pressing 385 pounds! Rector has solid hands and tremendous leaping ability. He's one of those bubble players who has a shot. We'll keep an eye on him for you. • Parcells is sounding more confident about his offensive line. He said he wants to thin out his numbers there so that the young players can receive plenty of reps. At this point, offensive tackle Pat McQuistan and guard Cory Procter have caught his eye. Not that I would ever say I-told-you-so, but Procter's the guy we labeled as a surprise a few weeks ago. He can play both guard positions and could even play some tackle in an emergency. • The expectation for fourth-round draft choice Skyler Green continue to go up. The fact that passing game coordinator Todd Haley is all over him is a good sign. Green is an impressive athlete. He should help in the return game, but he's also capable of making exciting plays in the passing game. He appears to have great hips (stay with me here), which allow him to adjust to a lot of different throws. |

I lived in Thousand Oaks for 15 years, so I know the area extremely well...if you're looking for good seafood, try the Crab House right there in Oxnard. It's just off the 101, in one of those shopping centers. Excellent food, particularly the surprisingly cheap all-you-can-eat crab legs or prime rib. It's outstanding!

What does timing have to do with kicking off? Don't you just run up and kick the ball? Been doing it in my backyard since I was 6.
