Sean Payton strikes again. The former Cowboys assistant turned New Orleans head coach claimed Rob Petitti and Terrance Copper off waivers and both are now Saints. Petitti and Copper were the only players the Cowboys cut to be claimed Sunday. The Cowboys are not announcing their practice squad details yet, but they have the opportunity to bring back the following players: QB Matt Baker, OG D'Anthony Batiste, WR Damarius Bilbo, OT Dennis Roland, C Matt Tarullo, RB Keylon Kincade, DE Stephen Bowen; TE Tony Curtis; LB Junior Glymph; WR Skyler Green and NT Montavious Stanley. They can keep eight practice squad players out of that group. (Swedish linebacker Carl-Johan Bjork is exempt). |

The only surprise here is that more former Cowboys haven't become Saints. Payton knows them quite well and is desperately trying to rebuild a Saints team that is only a shadow of its pre-Katrina self. I guess we can take it as a compliment. The bottom feeders always wait until cut-down day to grab the players released by the better teams. Nope, no surprise here.

for the 8 practice squad members, my guess would be Glymph, Batiste, Curtis, Baker, Green, Bowen, Kincade, Tarullo and Stanley. It will be interesting to hear Coach Parcell's explanation for cutting Petitti in favor of Fabini. I thought for sure Fabini would get released. Thoughts?

Glad to see Petitti and Copper go to New Orleans rather than NY, Wash, or PHI. Now Reggie Bush will be more fun to watch since he may have at least mediocre blocking.
Is NO becoming everyone's second favorite team?

Why didn't the Cowboys just trade Copper and Pettiti to the Saints I am sure we could have gotten a Waterboy and possibly even a Ballboy.

Hey, no skin off the cowboys nose. These guys were gone anyway. I'm just glad to see two quality guys get employment, so good for Sean. Wouldn't you have done the same thing in his place? Of course you would.

i was also taken off guard about the release of petitti...my guess for keeping fabini is he can play te in goal line situations..they only kept 3 true te's, and polite counts as the 4th te..but fabini has the experience in playing some te, just like jumbo elliot did for the tuna with the jets..

Rob Petitti's release is going to come back to haunt us one day.. Mark my word. I think he is going to be a very good player solid player for many years, not great though.

Sorry to see Petitti go. There has got to be more than meets the eye to this choice of Fabini over Petitti. Come on Matt, go get it. But come back with something better than Parcells never liked Rob and never gave him a fair chance to compete for the job. Which brings us back to Drew Henson. Payton knows the Cowboy players backwards and forwards and that is esp. true of Henson. Payton is doing the smart thing and signing players that he knows and that he thinks will upgrade his talent. The Saints need quality depth at the QB position, so if Payton thought Henson has the stuff to develop into a NFL starter or even a quality backup, why did he pass on Henson and jump on all the rest of the Cowboy players. I think this debunks the conspiracy theory that Henson never stood a chance and was never given a fair chance because Bill simply never liked him. Obviously a lot of others in the league do not think he has much to offer either. Now that is not to say that Parcells, Payton and the others are right about Henson. He will get a second chance somewhere to prove everyone wrong. But he will have to show them a lot more than he showed Parcells and Payton if he hopes to land a job even as a backup.
