November 16, 2006This quote is provided by my friend and colleague David "Pinot" Moore, who is reporting from this blog's Indianapolis bureau. Asked about his relationship with Bill Parcells, the Colts' kicker said, "I wouldn’t say we’re tight, but I’ll definitely say hello to him before the game or after the game. I had the pleasure of working with him for one season, my rookie year, and I think I learned a lot from him. He’s a great coach. It will be great to see him." As I said yesterday, Parcells didn't want to talk about why the Cowboys went after Vanderjagt instead of Vinatieri. "House rules," he said.
The entry " What does Vinatieri think of Parcells?" has no entry tags. Here is the defensive stats from the coaching film of the Cowboys: Some of these stats may be different from other sources. Tony Romo's right middle finger is swollen. He said the finger is fine and that he doesn't expect any problems throwing the ball.
Nobody can replace Greg Ellis at outside linebacker. The entry "Dual spot at outside linebacker" has no entry tags. For most of the season, Mike Vanderjagt is around the locker room talking to reporters about a number of subjects. Bill Parcells said receiver Terry Glenn is doing fine in practice. Glenn has a kneecap injury that forced him out of Sunday's game at Arizona. But first, a quick program announcement: I will appear on the wildly successful Southwest Kia Sports Talk show on channel 52 at 6:30 p.m. In an effort to boost ratings, the show has asked me to actually show up on time tonight, so look for me at about 6:38. Anyone who calls in and mentions the blog will receive a free "Save Matt Mosley's Blog" T-shirt. With that out of the way, let's get to the Report. Bill Parcells took a stroll down memory lane today, referring to an old Giants quarterback turned broadcaster. He professed his love for Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney and talked about his team's struggles at free safety. The entry " The Mosley Afternoon Report" has no entry tags. Cowboys defensive end Chris Canty was singing the classic song "Mr. Telephone Man" from New Edition's ground-breaking 1984 album, New Edition, this afternoon in the locker room. Since Canty was 2 at the time, I asked him when he became a New Edition fan. Turns out one of his brothers is 12 years older than him. He then launched into "Cool it Now," which was the first song of that album. Canty and I then talked about his one-on-one matchup with Colts offensive tackle Tarik Glenn. Canty said the thing he needs to improve on the most is his confidence. He's coming off a solid effort against the Cardinals, but he's been frustrated by his own play in some games. Canty has gone back and watched what former Steelers defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen did against Glenn in last year's AFC Divisional Playoff game. He said that Oelhoffen, who now plays for the Jets, and the Patriots' Richard Seymour provide excellent examples of how to slow down Peyton Manning. Much, much more to come. m
The entry " Canty kickin' it old school" has no entry tags. And let us know what's the best or worst question you guys have heard today. One of the reporters was getting hazed for dressing in all black and for looking like actor Wesley Snipes in the Cowboys locker room on Wednesday. The entry "Wesley Snipes look-alike in locker room" has no entry tags. I had planned on watching ABC's Dancing With the Stars last night, but something came up at the last minute. Little bit shocked that Cowboys legends Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman would take part in this sort of thing. Maybe someone can post some audio of what Staubach had to say. I can't wait to see next season's lineup. Since the cast of Gimme a Break has already been utilized, maybe it's time to bring in Punky Brewster. Wonder what this woman's up to. First of all, let me apologize for our technical problems this morning. If you had problems logging onto the site, there's a reason for that and it's one that I'm not capable of explaining. Anyway, everyone practiced for the Cowboys, including this year's sixth-round draft pick Montavious Stanley, who was claimed off waivers from Jacksonville. Stay with us throughout the afternoon. Bill at 1:30 and players after that. Got into a cab today and asked the driver to take me to the Colts complex. After a few seconds, he politely asked if I was a player. |
