Romo's next contract

With each passing week, Tony Romo's asking price is going up. You might recall him signing a two-year extension worth $3.9 million in August that included a $2 million signing bonus.

I'm told the Cowboys will wait until after the season before tearing up that contract and starting over. And you can bet that my friends at Creative Artists Agency won't be offering any discounts.

One of my colleagues laughed in my face a couple of weeks ago when I wondered aloud if Romo might receive a $10 million signing bonus.

I may have the last laugh on this one, though.

I hope the Cowboys dont overpay Mr.Romo. He has shown that he may well be the future of the team at the QB position, but that doesnt change the fact that he was undrafted and to this point still unproven. Does the name Kurt Warner ring a bell ? Hype to has been !

The starting QB for the Tampa Bay Bucs isn't dating Jessica Simpson. To have that kind of profile as an athlete, you need to be the starter in New York (Eli's job), LA (not currently possible), or Your Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys franchise deserves at least a 10% discount versus other teams. Salary isn't everything, after all.

To me the emergence of Romo is part of a really exciting trend in the NFL right now: the explosion of a great new generation of young QBs. Romo, Rivers, Young, Leinart--- these guys are starting to tear it up, and they look like they'll be around a long time. It's fun to watch. And you're right, Matt: These guys are going to command a very high market price

Ha ha.

I'll take a Warner-type career from Romo every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
He went to two Super Bowls and won one of them.

Maybe he didn't last 10 years but so what? Ask Peyton Manning how bad he'd like to get just a SINGLE ring.

You did have the last laugh!!!!

Financial terms were not disclosed, but multiple sources have reported that the extension is worth $67.5 million, including $30 million in guaranteed money and an $11.5 million signing bonus.
