Just had a nice visit with former Cowboys defensive end Jim Jeffcoat in the lobby. He decided to leave the coaching profession after the Cowboys didn't renew his contract after the 2004 season and has become very successful in the insurance business.

One of Jeffcoat's sons, Jackson, is a star defensive end at Plano West. The 6-4, 240-pound defensive end is the first freshman to start since Plano West opened seven years ago.

Jackson's twin sister, Jacqueline, is a 6-2 forward for the varsity basketball team.

Kim Mulkey, I know you read this blog. You should have the Jeffcoats on speed dial.

Maybe Jeffcoat can teach Spears and Canty to rush the passer. I understand Darren Woodson was at the Ranch yesterday as well. I assume he was giving some pointers to Coleman and Davis?

The good old days of Ed "Too Tall" Jones blocking a Phil Simms pass right into the waiting arms of Jim Jeffcoat for a touchdown! They pulled that play of twice against the Giants about 2 years apart, both in Monday Night games, I believe....

Jeffcoat was an underrated player for sure...his motor was always running and he always seemed to be around the ball. We've been blessed throughout the years with some GREAT defensive ends...guys like Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Harvey Martin, Jeffcoat, Tony "bad knees" Tolbert, and Charles Haley, of course. It's a shame, though, that neither Jones nor Harvey will ever get a sniff at the Hall of Fame...seems odd. Of course, had they at least split those Superbowls with the Steelers, guys like Jones and Martin would be in, not to mention Drew Pearson.

Let's also remember what great ambassadors of both the Cowboys and the Dallas community the Jeffcoats have been and continue to be. One memory especially was sharing an elevator ride and brief chat at Dallas Market Center with a radiant and gracious Tammy Jeffcoat and her twins in their double stroller. Wonderful to hear that life going well for all!

I am glad to hear Jim is doing good. I was a very good friend of his during the '90's ride with the Cowboys and have lost track with him over the years. Jim, or anyone who can relay this meassage, could you possibly email me at brycemc@sbcglobal.net when you get a chance. I would like to catch up and I have some news and perhaps a great opportunity for you.
BTW, congrats on Jackson and Jacqueline. I remember them when they were little tykes running around. I've got my oldest playing football in college and the youngest is playing at Keller Central.
I hope you read this or someone you know does! :)
Thaks,
Bryce
