Add that to the long list of last-minute wins by the Skins against the Boys. They never should have been in it.

The cowboy mistakes in this game were ridiculous, this team looks like they are clueless and i think the same can be said for the coaching staff.
Posted by sonny @ 3:13 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
That's why you harped about the extra point. With that point, they could've just run out the clock instead of leaving it up to vander-suck. Way to go guys. Defense was horrible today, TO drops a sure thing (looked like keyshawn from last week)and the penalties...Tony Romo was the only player worth a crap today, and the team took a great performance by him a threw it out the window. Well, back to the cellar if we can't even beat the redskins.
Posted by Dan @ 3:14 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
This game sits solely on the coaches. How is it that the Redskins go for it on 4th down and yet when we had that key 4th and 2, when we had the redskins reeling we punt and then the Williams debacle. This game shouldn't have been close and T.O. had better not complain about anything the rest of the year!

I think I am done watching for the season. That was the most amazing loss I have ever seen. Also, how was that a 15 yard facemask. Looked like an obvious 5 yarder to me. He let go as soon as he got his hand on the mask. What a disappointing season.

Beaten by one of the worst teams in the league. So sick of Parcells and the obvious lack of motivation/coaching going on here in Dallas.

Posted by Jay @ 3:16 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Was that really a 15 yard variety facemask? Seemed like a 5 yarder to me. Regardless of that, to allow someone to get in to block a kick at that point in the game is ridiculous. It shows a huge lack of heart. They just didn't want it today.
Posted by Jimbo @ 3:16 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
We're now 1-3 in the division, best case is 3-3. And now the Giants are 6-2 and 3-0 in the division. We can kiss the division goodbye.
Posted by john herndon @ 3:16 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
I am done for this season. This team is going to cause me a heart attack and I am only 37 years old. I feel for Bill because this team is missing something. I don't know what it is but they are missing something. I am going to throw up. A good performance by Romo though. Like Parcells told them don't forget that TE!
With 153 yards in penalties, I'm not surprised. You have to be better than that. Undisciplined doesn't even begin to describe it. The Cowboys only have one division win this season.
Posted by Ben @ 3:17 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
The two guys we brought in to be 100% dependable, TO and Vanderjagt, cost us with a dropped TD pass and a low kick that wouldn't have even cleared our own line. Terrible game.
Posted by Grant @ 3:17 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
The referee should be fired for calling that finger on the facemask a 15-yard penalty. That was the most ridiculous game-deciding call I have ever witnessed.

UNDISCIPLINED, UNDISCIPLINED!!!! This club has no discipline whatsoever, they just threw a game away with yet another 15-yard penalty! This is on Parcells', Anthony Henry's, and Roy Williams' shoulders alone. Congrats to Romo, what a game, he's the real deal. This is not a Super Bowl contending team though, there is NO way you can compete in the playoffs with over 100-yards in penalties. This just ruined my weekend, thanks Cowboys!
Posted by gls @ 3:18 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
We lost this game back when TO took his little "nap" after the touchdown...then fell asleep during the game w/ missed passes!
Posted by Rob T. @ 3:18 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
This one effectively ends the Cowboys' season, just as the Steelers game loss did two years ago. Romo's the only bright spot here. Time to find a supportive cast that's worthy of him.
Posted by Revolver @ 3:18 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
The one good thing (the ONLY good thing) about this loss was Romo's play. He did make some mistakes but nothing that were really costly. Dropped TD pass by TO, absolutely horrendous play by the Cowboys secondary, and poor coaching led to this loss. Yes this team is very aveage (at best) but at least we know that Romo is capable of getting the job done. Too bad no one else can (except maybe Ware).

It was amusing to watch the Redskins and their fans run around the field like they just won the NFC Championship game. Come playoff time, the closest the Redskins will be to a playoff game is the distance between their couch and television set.

Why does TO drop so many balls? I swear he hears the footsteps.
Posted by Glenn @ 3:21 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Bad Call. The face-mask penalty should have been a 5-yarder, not the 15 for tackling by the mask. Officials screw-up added to the players and coaches screw-up adds up to a defeat. The NFL ought to repremand the officials for that last call.
Posted by Gil Roy @ 3:22 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
The Cowboys are the dumbest team in football.
Parcells is one of the dumbest coach in all of football. Dumb and Dumber ... this is how this team is getting ... unbelievable ... This team is dumb ...
Posted by lance @ 3:22 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Good point just made by Bradshaw (could this be a first?). That was *nowhere* near a 15-yard facemask penalty. That call alone should merit serious review from the NFL which was a game-breaking mistake by the officials.
Posted by Beno @ 3:22 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Just think, if they had not gone for two and failed, Dallas could've run out the clock instead of getting their kick blocked, and won by one.
Posted by Chuck H. @ 3:23 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
This is getting so old. Please tell me this is Zimmer's last year. It's pathetic they can't generate a decent pass rush or an effective blitz package. Greg Ellis is the one pass rusher who can do more than a bull rush. Yes, T.O. dropped a certain touchdown, but geez I'm so sick of seeing the defensive linemen being contained game after game. I'd love to see what Dick LeBeau or Wade Phillips could do with the Boy's defensive front seven.
Posted by mike @ 3:23 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Jones must have felt horrible as he witnessed the season collapsing upon the team and himself. Jones only has himself to blame, as he signed players at the wrong positions, not where they were most needed, in the offensive line.

Posted by swatson @ 3:25 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
I just can't believe this loss. When is it going to become obvious that this coaching staff has no clue as to how to motivate its players. Mabye Ol' Bill will blame Tony Romo for this. We are now how many games into the season and can't block for a 35-yard field goal. And our defense which talked about being so great, can't even hold Mark (Foot in the Grave) Brunell from scoring. Absolutely Pathetic.

Don't blame the Refs AWFUL call. Don't blame the penalties and don't blame TO or Vandejagt.
Blame the coaching staff for allowing this game to be close with horrid play calling once they went up 7.
Blame the coaching staff for not going for the regular PAT in the 1st half.

Owens' penalty had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game. If you remember, the Skins muffed the kickoff and ended up with the ball at the 35 anyways. The drop was crucial, yes. But the game should not have been that close...153 yards of penalties. I repeat. 153 yards of penalties. But Parcells doesn't coach penalties, remember?

Isn't it just a little strange that on a team with all these "seasoned veterans" (that didn't attend Eastern Illinois), that Tony Romo is the last person to blame for this loss?
We just have to have a scapegoat every week to explain a loss. Tony has been an easy target to blame, but the rest of our team played so awful that they made Tony look like Peyton Manning.
Posted by rs691919 @ 3:35 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
ernest t bass, in the Cowboys' case, you are exactly right: they win one week, they lose the next. The end result is a.500 mediocre team. Four years of Parcells, no playoff wins. That's the bottom line.

Mental mistakes + Penalties + following 2pt chart = Coaching. Parcells 29 wins 27 losses. You are what you are!!!!!!
Posted by John Thornhill @ 3:40 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
I a total waste for a good performance by Romo and the rest of the backfield. I'm the last person to blame refs on losing a game but someone should have stepped up and corrected that terrible call at the end of the game. There is no way that was a 15 yard penalty.
TO embarrassed himself and the organization with that silly stunt in the end zone and then he drops the best pass he'll ever see while en route to the end zone.
But I won't just blame TO and the refs. I just have to mention what a GREAT call it was to go for 2 so early in the ball game!!! OH and lets not forget that hurry up offense! Parcells had better not just blame the team for this loss because there is more than enough blame to go around!!!
This kind of loss should be good for the future of Romo. Not everything works like it should. Better he learns about these kinds of games now rather than later. Future is what's important.
Good chance there will be a major mixup in the coaching staff after the year. This talented a defense shouldn't be making the same mistakes week after week. That's what practice is for.
Posted by ck @ 3:40 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Terrell Owens what a disapointment. Tony Romo played his butt off and because of TO and VanderShank they lose the game. Unbelievable. What else does Parcells need to do. TO is past his prime -- no way you drop that ball.
Posted by Frank Colonna @ 3:41 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Cowboys coaches are horrible, from the top down. This isn't about being a fairweather fan, this was one of the worst losses I've every seen. From the terrible 2pt call, to horrible blitzes on d, to dumb reverse, to 12 penalties, embarrassing.
Posted by Jeff @ 3:41 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
This is just another loss that shouldn't have been. Instead of the team rallying around Romo to win games it's the other way around. Romo can only do so much for these bone-heads.
Posted by Frank Colonna @ 3:42 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
It's crazy to have the two most overrated players on one team. TO is getting 10 million to drop key passes and easy scores. For every good play Roy makes in coverage, he makes 3 bad ones. How much more do we have to watch. Gain 15 pounds and move to linebacker.
Posted by Colorado Kool Aid @ 3:43 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
"You are what you are" -- and this team is undisciplined (bad assignment errors, penalties, etc) and deserves its record. When your drop passes and take stupid penalties, can't cover receivers and don't know where the ball is, make mistake after mistake (Fasano -- that is you!), fail to make key blocks . . . you lose. This is a barely .500 team and will stay that way until they get better talent, players who play with discipline, and players who won't make mistakes at key moments. Maybe next year.
Posted by Rod @ 3:45 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Geez, Cowboy fans are the biggest babies...Set aside ridiculous luck and some undisplined play and we blow the awful skins out. Romo is really unbelievable. For the first time in a long time, i feel really optimistic about this team.
As for the genius above scheduling out our wins and losses, i'll bet the bears and the falcons had wins chalked up today as well. Philly looked unbeatable early this season and now they cannot win. Ask them about bad luck.
Ok, that said, this loss sucked but sometimes that is the way it goes. We had that sort of luck on our side last week.

Posted by Lance @ 3:48 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
T.O. - Once again, your drop of a perfectly thrown pass was a killer. The penalties are the mark of a truly undisciplined team. And Vandy..your short kick-offs are killings us. Bring back Suisham. How do you let a defender come unblocked through an interior hole on an easy game winning field goal? No telling which team will show next week in the desert.
Posted by Bahti @ 3:50 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Yeah, the refs were heck. Two low hits on Brunell weren't called, though Sean Taylor's hit to the midsection was called "too low". Christian Fauria was called for holding on a big play though Jason Witten blatantly did the same exact thing and wasn't called either. DARN THOSE OFFICIALS.
Posted by Jailbird Doogie @ 3:50 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Always the same-old Cowboys fans. Last week they were going to win the Super Bowl, and this week the season is over? I'm surprised it took a whole 24 posts before someone blamed the loss on the Refs. It's never anybody's fault, is it?

One of the most painful losses I have ever seen. I feel the same now as I did after game 3,4,5,6 of the nba finals.... Add another year to Dallas's 7-year title-less streak.
With the rangers in the gutter, The boys constantly fighting for mediocrity, and the Mavs in the cellar of the West Conf. Not to mention FC Dallas or Desperados collapses. I guess it's time to watch more hockey. Too bad turco will pull the same stunt.

Good teams don't rely on luck to win and I really don't think Cowboys fans are babies to expect their team with so much talent to come out and play well and beat a bad team. Newman, Ellis, Ferguson and Ware (plus Romo since he started) seem to be the only guys that play consistent from week to week.
I love how these deadskin fans crawl out from under their rock when they win. You don't hear much from them the rest of the time. They're usually under that rock come gametime sucking their thumbs waiting for someone to tell them who won...

I hate it and I hate that I have to say it but it's true: There's no way that that was a 15 yarder at the end. The refs effed this one up. No one ought to be blaming parcells for going for two. That decision was indicative of the way he looks at the game, the importance he places on the most subtle plays from start to finish: if he converts, he asserts his gameplan in an unlikely situation; if not, there's really not much risk in it unless your game plan involves a dozen penalties; moreover, a pat isn't placed a whole lot closer to the uprights than the kick we missed after romo got us in position to win the game. anyway, stop jumping overboard and calling out parcells and owens and williams and henry. season's not over.
Posted by Keith P @ 4:03 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Look, we are 4-4 and pretty average but so is the rest of the NFC. Right now the wild card is with the 4-3 Vikings who have San Francisco. After that, there is a 4 way tie for 7th looking in at the playoffs. There are still 8 games and a lot can happen. Are we a Super Bowl contender? No. Can we slip into the playoffs even at 9-7. Maybe...

"oh Henry" is worse than the candy bar, way too many penalties!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Robert @ 4:04 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
If where Parcells I would do the following...
Make OL and TEs go through 1,000 snaps per day until they don't jump.
Put the DBs and LB in routes and throw them 1,000 passes per day until they catch 100% of them.
Make FG unti kick 1000's field goals per day until they hit 10 in a row.
Repetition may help an obviously stooopid team even if their legs fall off.
Posted by Nate @ 4:06 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Bill has said that over 100 yards in penalties equals a score (either one you don't get or one they get). Turns out that was difference today.
Posted by Robert @ 4:11 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
No one really believes the season is over. No one believes there are any great teams in the NFC.
But even if you make the playoffs you cannot be a stoopid team and win. Just like you could never win with Bledsoe either even if you did make the playoffs. Too immobile.
I have hope but it is fading with the unusal ways they find to LOSE. Incredible how they find ways to lose.
Top 5 talent. Bottom 5 brains.

Ok, halfway done we are 4-4, with 8 to play. Ideally, 6-2 is what we need to close with.
The yo-yo effect of up and down, win, lose, win, lose is frustrating. We aren't in first in our division, but by no means is the season over. No playoff spots or division championships are handed out after 9 weeks. It's a 17 week season and we still have time to get on a roll.
Fear not Cowboys faithful.
Let's go beat the Cardinals.

Losing to one of the worst teams in the league like that doesn't bode well. Each year, thankfully, I grow less and less interested. I'll still always love this team, but it's clear that it's going to be a LONG time until we sniff dominance again. The 90s seems so long ago, doesn't it? 15 yard face mask penalty or not, this game shouldn't have come down to a last second field goal. If you can't handily beat a team as pathetic as the Redskins, then forget it.

I disagree Steve. Barber is a great changeup back and does good when he's in but teams wouldn't respect him as an every down back like they do J. Jones. He runs reckless which does allow for him to get some extra yardage but that would kill him if he was getting 20-25 runs a game. He SHOULD have been used on that run where we got the saftey though.
Posted by Kirch @ 4:43 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
Coaching, rather the lack of.
1. You have to have your power runner when running out of your own end zone.
2. Sleeping celebration, turned out to be non factor, 153 yards of penalaties is a major factor.
3. Kick the extra point in the first quarter.
4. Clock management during the Skins last drive.

i would agree with all the previous comments that have been made today!!! however not enough has been said about the awful play from the defense .. this was supposed to be the strength of this team, but looks more like the achilles heal now.. lack of pass rush has exposed a less than average secondary

I love all of these Cowboy fans complaining about the facemask call at the end. A sloppy, poor, game by the Cowboys. Missed opportunities. Pathetic decision-making. No execution. A blocked kick to win it. The Cowboys deserved to lose this game.
Hope you all enjoyed another heart-breaking loss to the Skins. See you next year.
Posted by Colin @ 10:36 AM Mon, Nov 06, 2006
Was the facemask excessive? Yes. But the officials missed three blatant holding calls on the Cowboys, including one committed by Witten on a Cowboys TD. Add those to the ridiculous roughing the passer call on Taylor (he hit Romo's thighs, not knees), and the Cowboys were getting most of the calls and non calls their way on Sunday. Even with all that, the Cowboys probably should've won. It's not because the EP vs. 2-point conversion, either. Had they kicked the EP, and had the Cowboys been up 20-19 late in the game, you think the Redskins would've settled for that 49-yard field goal. I doubt that. So saying that EP would've had the Cowboys kneeling is an absurd assertion.

I don't know what it is but they are missing something. I am going to throw up. A good performance by Romo though. Like Parcells told them don't forget that TE!
Posted by Devin @ 3:16 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
With 153 yards in penalties, I'm not surprised. You have to be better than that. Undisciplined doesn't even begin to describe it. The Cowboys only have one division win this season.
Posted by Ben @ 3:17 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
The two guys we brought in to be 100% dependable, TO and Vanderjagt, cost us with a dropped TD pass and a low kick that wouldn't have even cleared our own line. Terrible game.

Bad Call. The face-mask penalty should have been a 5-yarder, not the 15 for tackling by the mask. Officials screw-up added to the players and coaches screw-up adds up to a defeat. The NFL ought to repremand the officials for that last call.

This is getting so old. Please tell me this is Zimmer's last year. It's pathetic they can't generate a decent pass rush or an effective blitz package. Greg Ellis is the one pass rusher who can do more than a bull rush. Yes, T.O. dropped a certain touchdown, but geez I'm so sick of seeing the defensive linemen being contained game after game. I'd love to see what Dick LeBeau or Wade Phillips could do with the Boy's defensive front seven.

Jones must have felt horrible as he witnessed the season collapsing upon the team and himself. Jones only has himself to blame, as he signed players at the wrong positions, not where they were most needed, in the offensive line.

Posted by RM @ 3:40 PM Sun, Nov 05, 2006
This kind of loss should be good for the future of Romo. Not everything works like it should. Better he learns about these kinds of games now rather than later. Future is what's important.
Good chance there will be a major mixup in the coaching staff after the year. This talented a defense shouldn't be making the same mistakes week after week. That's what practice is for.

Terrell Owens what a disapointment. Tony Romo played his butt off and because of TO and VanderShank they lose the game. Unbelievable. What else does Parcells need to do. TO is past his prime -- no way you drop that ball.

Good teams don't rely on luck to win and I really don't think Cowboys fans are babies to expect their team with so much talent to come out and play well and beat a bad team. Newman, Ellis, Ferguson and Ware (plus Romo since he started) seem to be the only guys that play consistent from week to week.

Maybe...

Bill has said that over 100 yards in penalties equals a score (either one you don't get or one they get). Turns out that was difference today.

Once again, bonehead plays will allow the Redskins to keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs. Mark it down, just like the Monday night debacle last year, this is the one that will haunt them all year!

I have never seen a RB turn a four-yard run into a two-yard run more often than Julius Jones.
Can we please see more of Barber at RB? Please!!

Steve I agree with Barber deal. I don't understand why JJ is the #1 and Barber is number two. I'm not trashing JJ but Barber just seems to make things happen when he is in. Also did any of you catch Jimmy Johnson comments after the game...wow I don't think he cares for TO so much.

No motivation, poor secondary, poor coaching

there's 8 games left people. please don't start committing suicide just yet.

5. Block, but everyone knows the OL is a problem.

i would agree with all the previous comments that have been made today!!! however not enough has been said about the awful play from the defense .. this was supposed to be the strength of this team, but looks more like the achilles heal now.. lack of pass rush has exposed a less than average secondary

"You are what you are."
The Cowboys are a mediocre team, with a mediocre coach and a mediocre wide reciever.
You are what you are.

GEEZ! Cowboys fans are such a bunch of babies. Whine, whine, whine.
The Cowboys lost. Get over it.

Skins fan here..Penalties and TO hosed ya. But take heart, you have Romo and we are going down the tubes with Brunell..Typical Boys/Skins game(and I go all the way back to Dandy Don/Jurgy)..Y'all have a bigger upside than we do considering you finally got a QB.

Ha Ha Ha
What else can I say.
Just like last year we will make the playoffs and Dallas wont.
