Just spoke with Saints quarterback Drew Brees by phone. He was in the middle of eating lunch, so I'm a little hazy on what he said. The last time Brees visited Texas Stadium was his rookie season in San Diego. He watched from the sidelines as the Chargers won, 32-21. Brees said he'll never forget that day because it was the first game after 9/11. The last time he actually played here, Brees led his Austin Westlake team to a 55-15 victory over Abilene Cooper in the Class 5A Division II state title game. Colts running back Dominic Rhodes was playing for Cooper that day. "I think they were quarterback sneaks, though," he said. Asked if he would've ended up with the Dolphins had they not low-balled him, Brees paused and said, "This was my opportunity." He's relished the opportunity to play in front of fans who've been through so much and said he couldn't imagine playing anywhere else. He grew up a Cowboys fan and said Troy Aikman was always his favorite player. Back with the Afternoon Report soon.
Romo and Brees are the top-rated passers in the NFC. Brees has thrown for 20 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions and is already receiving MVP consideration. |

Did anyone ask Brees how it felt to be Payton's SECOND choice at QB, behind Romo?

WOW. Mike, that's cold...
but I do have a friend that's like that, he's always talking about other girls in front of his current girlfriend... it's awful and probably eating Drew up inside.
coincidentally, it's also eating another Drew up inside.
subsequently, it's also eating yet another Drew up inside. but I hear he's getting another chance with the purple people up North...
