Not a lot in my opinion. By now, the players in this locker room are used to dealing with T.O.'s antics. It makes for great TV, but most of the players I talk to are simply amused by T.O.'s antics. If there was a suspension involved, I could see it being a huge distraction. Not only losing one of your best offensive weapons, but also losing him during Philly week. By Wednesday, most of this will have gone away. I do think Goodell sent a strong message with this fine. I'll be interested to see if the players' union files an appeal on T.O.'s behalf. He's going to provide mitigating factors, say for instance, "I didn't do it." T.O.'s now claiming that he was caught off-guard by the folks at NFL Network on Saturday. He didn't realize that DeAngelo Hall was in the locker room breaking the spitting story. Oh yeah, Miles Austin has a cracked bone in one of his fingers, but should be ready to go next week. Parcells said the reason his team can't cover obscure fullbacks is because of "mental errors" by two different players. m |

There are circumstances where doing the right thing yields results more positive than not disrupting "Philly week."

If the players you talk to act amused by Owens behavior please remember that for them to react to you in any other fashion would feed the insanity. They are forced to be enablers, so to speak, in order for their team to have a chance for success this season. When Owens is gone they'll sing a much more honest tune.

A side effect of using the 3-4 and sending the outside linebacker is creating space in the flat. So it is not likely Ware's coverage responsibility. However, this is one of the problems with the Cowboys not using some "stunts" and going with the base D. In the red zone it is also harder for the safety to get that far over that quickly. Parcells is blaming the player, but to some degree it is fault of the system. They better fix it this week, because Andy Reid will exploit a weakness every time.

Several times Ware has gotten caught in no man's land between going after the qb and covering the FB.
Roy Wms was consumed with Crumpler...when Vick rolled left Roy started to cover FB33 in the left flat, but then he pulled off and decked Crumpler who was at the goal line on about the left hash. Crumpler was being shadowed by another DB, Watkins I think, who had poor position, behind Crumpler 1 yard deep in the end zone. Vick came off of Crumpler and hit 33 wide open for the TD.
The trick seems to be making Roy, Ware, and Watkins think on the fly.

Would the two culprits for not covering the running backs be the two outside linebackers??

Tivo'ed the game and the one culprit that is in two of the three plays to the FB was Roy Williams. The last TD Williams is going to the FB and but turns to his left to nail Grumpler. # 26 (Glenn) is coming over to cover Grumpler and almost gets Glenn also. On the previous attempt Roy comes upto the line and freezes as the FB goes past him. Ware was coming off the end to seal up the running lane for Vick. Roy is the Culprit.

Yes, T.O. is a jerk. He also happens to be, arguably, the best receiver in the league.
It's all about winning. The Cowboys of the 70s that a lot of us grew up on and hold to such a high standard weren't all choirboys, either. You had Staubach, but you also had Hollywood Henderson. You had Pearson, but you also had Lance Rentzel. You had White, but you also had Rafael Septien.
And we may have T.O. now, but I haven't heard talk of any White Houses or "self-employed models" lately. It could be a LOT worse.
