Your Mosley Afternoon Report starts now

Let's start with some housekeeping issues. Reserve DB Jacques Reeves missed practice again with an elbow injury but Bill Parcells isn't ruling him out for Monday. And join me in congratulating rookie DE Jason Hatcher and his wife on their new arrival.

Parcells said Hatcher missed part of team drills because of his child's birth. I mean, the nerve of this kid!

The holiday spirit seems to have taken hold of Bill Parcells, who spent several minutes talking about his admiration for Eagles coach Andy Reid.
Reid and Parcells have struck up a long-distance relationship based on sharing the same body type and basic football philosophy.

Reid told us this morning that Bill called to encourage him when the Eagles were 5-6 and had just lost Donovan McNabb for the season.

Asked about the phone call, Parcells said, "I didn't know that he was going to make [that public]. I really do think a lot of him. Sometimes even though you don't know a coach, you kind of identify with a guy."

Cue the string quartet.

"When I was a young coach in this league, several of the older coaches - not all of them - took time for me. I made up my mind that if I was ever in that position, I would do the same."

Parcells was still with the Jets when Reid was a rookie coach. He remembers walking over to Reid and telling him how fortunate he was to have a defensive coordinator like Jim Johnson in his first head coaching job.

Parcells echoed something that Reid said recently.

"If you gotta be doing something on Christmas, it might as well be something important."...

In other holiday news, Parcells said he will have his players stay at the team hotel Christmas Eve and then allow them to go home early Christmas morning to spend time with their families.

Back with Part 2 of the report in a few minutes.

Question for Stinky; does Parcells plant one on Andy Reid's cheek after the game in holiday spirit?

With all due respect Matt, given what your picture looks like (& assuming that's the best shot they could have taken), you probably shouldn't make fun of other peoples' looks. Did you ever think of karma? That could well be why you got a flat tire the other day--too much snottiness eventually gets its comeuppance.

Don't worry, karma is outlawed in Texas. We only grow in your snottiness.

Parcells is a pragmatic mentor. He knows eventually he's gonna need some beefy pallbearers.

Having your birthday around Xmas sucks. God Bless Hatcher's baby, but too bad for kid.

JPW,
The pallbearer comment should make his eulogy. Priceless.

Greg
