There have been some painful defeats through the years, but can this one be topped?

And who deserves the most blame?

1. Tony Romo

2. Terry Glenn

3. Officiating

Posted by Lauren @ 10:36 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo...the game was literally in his hands....

Posted by Rob @ 10:36 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

1a. Tony Romo
1b. Terry Glenn
1c. Bill Parcells
1d. Roy Williams
2. Replay Booth

Posted by Bernardo @ 10:37 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Are you kidding? Who is to blame? Who else but the guy that couldn't hold on to the damn ball at the end.

Posted by Neil @ 10:37 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

All 3 deserve blame!!!!! The biggest joke of and ending to a biggest joke in the playoffs.

Posted by rs691919 @ 10:37 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Roy Williams deserves the most blame. Beaten on two touchdowns and gave up another long throw.

Parcells is a close second, because this is his team, and it shouldn't have come down to a field goal from the 2 yard line.

Posted by Adam @ 10:38 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Both. How can you fumble on the 1 yard line? How can you bobble the snap on the year's most important snap?

Blame both.

Posted by Phill @ 10:38 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

None of the above - Parcells and his coaching staff handed this game to Seattle by not attacking their obvious weakness. Worst strategic decisions since Hitler decided not to invade Britain after Dunkirk left them defenceless.

Posted by j @ 10:38 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Have to pin this one Tony, but even if they make the field goal, there's too much time on the clock, and Seatle wins anyway. Even if they won, they weren't going anywhere, let's look to next season.

Posted by kameleon_o @ 10:38 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

#1 - The officials
#2a - Terry Glenn
#2b - Tony Romo

Posted by Jara @ 10:38 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

The officials took this game from the Cowboys. There is no doubt about it. The hold on Newman was terrible, the pass interference was worse and the spot of the ball replay was a joke. What part of conclusive didn't the head official understand. No two ways about it...Dallas was clearly the better team tonight and got robbed.

Posted by David @ 10:39 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Guys, the replay booth made the corect call. Witten was nowhere near the 1st down marker.

If you offense can only score 13 points(Remember 7 came from special teams), on a defence with guys coming in off the street you are in trouble.

Posted by Malcolm @ 10:39 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

TONY without a doubt.

Can't wait to hear T.O.'s sound bites over the next week. He's going to explode.

Posted by Bluestar @ 10:39 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo, Romo, Romo. The loss was his fault period. The defense would have held Seattle with no timeouts for the win.

Posted by Mike @ 10:40 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

It's real easy to bash Parcells, but he did not drop the ball. Granted his team struggled at times this year, but he is not to blame for this loss.

Posted by Larry @ 10:40 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I wish I did not care.
You could not write a script to a more painful loss.
Convenient calls on 3rd downs were there all day but if you don't botch the snap it is a non-issue. I think I may find some answers in the bottom of a bottle.

Posted by I want to pull a TO @ 10:41 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Tony Romo is dead to me. He made me die a little inside with that one.

Posted by Jimbo @ 10:41 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I hate to say it, but Romo. But Terry Glenn is an incredibly close second. His play cost us 9 points.

Posted by rs691919 @ 10:42 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo the QB is not to blame. Romo the holder screwed up big time. But the Hawks would have gotten the field goal anyways--this is Josh Brown we're talking about and this is a defense that couldn't pin them inside their five yard despite all three timeouts.

Posted by Dave @ 10:42 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

The whole team !!

Posted by Bob @ 10:42 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo and Glenn

Posted by Bud @ 10:42 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I'll give it 50-50 to Tony and Terry. This may top the Jackie Smith drop. tough... for a heart-breaking nanosecond, I thought Romo was actually going to get in the end zone.

Posted by sbecker @ 10:42 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo literally and figuratively dropped the ball -- he's reasons 1, 2 and 3 that we lost.

Posted by Tom @ 10:43 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Blame the Offensive gameplan. They used five receivers in the first quarter, and that looked like a good plan to take advantage of Seattle's injured defense. However, someone gave up on it too quickly.

Posted by Doug @ 10:43 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I actually like Gramatica, but if he throws a decent block, Romo gets at least a first down. I would like to blame him. Without Romo, we wouldn't be here. With Bledsoe, we would have won 6 games.

Posted by GREG @ 10:43 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Okay....am I crazy, but wasn't ROMO down and the ground caused the fumble and he HAD gotten enough for the FIRST DOWN !!

WAS THERE A CHALLENGE???

This game made me kooky.

GO MAVS!!!

Posted by Shake @ 10:44 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Poor game plan by Dallas coaches. Dallas needs to decide who the offensive coordinator is and let him call the plays. Roy Williams should be a linebacker next year since he is a "biscuit away" according to Parcells. Dallas will need two new safeties next year in addition to another pass rusher.

Posted by Dirk @ 10:44 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Fitting end to a pathetic season.

Parcells and his band of losers (Bledsoe, Jones, T.O., Newman, Glenn) need to hop on the next train out of Big D. Time to flush the toilet and start preparing for next year with a team of players and coaches that have the heart to compete.

Posted by Frank C. @ 10:45 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

A tie between Glenn and Romo. Glenn's fumble changed the entire dynamic of the game. We stuff them on 4th and than do that. I don't understand why they would run that play with Owens. Dropping a snap like that is never exceptable, and in that situation, well, I can't really even think of anything to write.

Posted by Super @ 10:46 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo jerseys 50% off. Everywhere. Please.

Lets be serious, this team was never as good as the hype. TO is a wreck, Romo is still a backup. We just got a little hot and everyone went crazy pinning the hero label on Romo. Memo to Carrie Underwood-- call me.

Posted by Darrell @ 10:46 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Too many names to rank. Start with Glenn's drop, Parcell's gutless game plan, Romo's hands choking his throat while holding the ball.....

Posted by Rob @ 10:48 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

People off the street beat the cowboys. At least T.O keeps his streak alive 15 drops

Posted by Malcolm @ 10:49 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Nobody's smiling wider than Drew Bledsoe.

Posted by Frank C. @ 10:49 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

The officials were terrible! That call at the end was awful. It looked like he was a little short, but the refs ruled 1st down, and I don't know what could be considered conclusive from any of the replays. The Seahawks 1st 10 points came on drives that were kept alive by bs holding calls. Terrible. Seattle, here's your makeup for the Super Bowl.

Posted by David @ 10:50 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

T.O is to blame ...he disappeared against guys that were working at Capital One last week....get rid of him.... no top flight organization would tolerate him...Roy can go too ( just too fat and slow) and Romo is a pro bowl joke....send him to the sand lot

Posted by Bluestar @ 10:51 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Any idiot that lays any blame on the defense or Roy Williams for this loss must be Romo's girlfriend. The defense remarkably held Seattle to nothing after the refs spotted them 1st down at the one. Then Romo threw a low pass to Glenn for a safety.

Posted by charles @ 10:52 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I think Romo may have had a first down on that last play.

Posted by Tuna Bill @ 10:52 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Hate to say it, but Witten never made it to the one. It was the right call by the refs. I'm sure TO will say all the right things now (just like the start of the season) but give him some time this week and he will let his big mouth open...

Posted by Big Al @ 10:55 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Whoever put Romo's picture on top of the blog is to blame for the loss. It's been downhill ever since.

Posted by Rob @ 10:57 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

first down on the last play? he barley made the 2 yard line. His knees were on the 3 yard line

Posted by p @ 10:58 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo needs to worry about football rather than Carrie Underwood.

Posted by Ole Miss @ 10:58 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

This team regressed from November, actually getting worse instead of better, so I guess most of the blame goes with coaching. Say what you want about Romo, but it was the same story tonight as the entire last month--no pass rush and Roy Williams complete inability to cover anyone. The draft needs in this area should be obvious.

Posted by red @ 10:59 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Sure, this loss can be topped and has. How about losing the '82 NFC championship game to the 49ers after "The Catch"? Scarred me for life. The '06 Cowboys weren't going anywhere but to a slaughter in Chicago or NO.

Posted by David @ 11:00 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Tony and TO

Posted by ELgin @ 11:00 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Please! If we have to rely on a field goal to win a game we have no business winning in the first place. Defense played poorly on crucial downs. The O-Line forced Romo to "make" plays. And, yes, Tony botched the hold.

BUT!

Take a cue from Mike Leach - FGs are never something you want to settle for or rely on.

Posted by Ray @ 11:01 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Headline: The Decline and Fall of the Romo Empire

Posted by karry @ 11:01 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

There's alway next year unless your TO, the Big Fat Tuna, or Romo waiting for another pro bowl selection.

Posted by Gary M @ 11:02 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

thanks boys for sucking me in again....pink slip should go to t.o. for just being non-existent in big games

Posted by Scott @ 11:02 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Convert on 3rd and 1 foot early in the 4th quarter, then score a touchdown rather than field goal, and the Seahawks are done. Glenn hangs on to the ball, and the Seahawks are done. Romo hangs on to the ball, and the Seahawks are done. Big Bill exploits the Seahawks corners, and the Seahawks are done. I say Bill needs to go, and take TO with him.

Posted by Toronto guy @ 11:03 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

It's a team game. And all the blame rightfully starts at the top. Be a man Tuna and own up to it.

Posted by alwaysatroyfan @ 11:04 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

You guys can lay the blame on Tony if you want to. The kid is good. Next year with some help on the D. and a better offensive line this Team will be great. How about that Bobby Carpenter. That young man played great tonight. looked like a first round pick should look.
You can blame this loss on the officials. only 2 calls against Seattle. They were holding and never called for it.

Posted by Charles @ 11:04 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

It was in Romo's hands. A complete choke. He was off from the very beginning. Too many low, incomplete passes. He'll learn from this and be better next year but this one hurts.

Posted by Wes @ 11:04 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

How can anyone blame TO? He had one drop this game, which is the same amount as Terry Glenn (plus fumble) and Crayton. I believe TO was thrown to once...I said once...in the second half. That's just ridiculous...he was being guarded by a guy who was a loan officer last week...throw him the ball

Posted by Chuck @ 11:05 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

I hate these guys...I hate these guys...I hate these guys. I wish didn't care. I NEED to stop trying to live my life vicariously through a friggin' football team and do something worthwhile...this is what it's really about, I suspect, for all of us up late writing on a blog about our beloved franchise. Again, I hate these guys.

Posted by Chris @ 11:05 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Eventually, inexperienced QBs who come off the bench get exposed for why they were on the bench to begin with. It's one thing to make magic in your first few games, but sustaining your performance after opponents have enough film on you is the mark of a starting QB in the NFL. While Romo, with his instincts and mobility, took the Boys further than I think Bledsoe would have, his inexperience and lack of composure caught up with him.

Posted by Dirk @ 11:06 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Can't understand how anyone could think that the Cowboys got a raw deal from the refs.

Winners win, losers lose and make excuses for their losses. This Cowboys team is an embarrassment to the great Cowboys tradition.

With significant roster and coaching changes, the Cowboys can return to their winning tradition. If not, I won't be wasting my time following the imposters that we were stuck with this year.

Posted by rs691919 @ 11:07 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo choked the hold, but the defense choked for the last six games. A five point lead in the fourth quarter HAS to be maintained. Two touchdowns by Seattle's most hated Seahawk (Jeramy Stevens). That's an embarassment. Anyone who defends this defense must be Parcells' girlfriend (or cat).

Posted by Melonhead @ 11:07 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Yes Romo dropped the ball. That was a fluke though. I though Romo played pretty well for his 1st playoff game on the road. The problems? No sacks and lack of pass coverage by the safety position. I wear my Roy Williams jersey during each game but he is a liability in coverage.

But to me, the biggest issue is the game plan. 3 of their top 4 CBs are out and we don't pass more? Ridiculous. I don't like TO but he MUST be more involved in the offense. I know he's being double teamed but come on.

Good games from Julius, Miles Austin, Anthony Henry, Gramatica, Witten.

Posted by ernest t bass @ 11:08 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Blame? How pathetic is it when "fans" take the baited question of "Who's to blame?" followed by an ignorant list of suggestions and then wallow around in the sadistic pleasure of scapegoating players that did not lose for lack of effort. Sure hope this childish exercise makes you feel better. Not.

Posted by Bernardo @ 11:09 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Yup, Romo choked...big time. He feels bad about it and I feel bad for the guy. At the same time, if you are going to bask in the glory when times are good you better enjoy it when you stink up the joint.

Great stuff by TO after the game. You all said he wasn't a team guy?

Posted by Doug @ 11:09 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Come on people, don't put this loss on Romo. We would not even be in the playoffs without him. I put the blame on bad play calling. We never once went deep on the loan officer. Enough said.

Posted by walt @ 11:10 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

how about witten..you're a half yard from the down marker and 2 yrds from the goal line and you run short and can't push the defender a half a yard??see you at the gym!

Posted by Paul @ 11:10 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Romo's head got too big too fast this year. T.O.'s Hands got too small. Lack of Coaching to attack a secondary tonight who couldnt defend a watercooler in an office building. Was a complete let down to watch tonight. They all need beaten with rubber bats. Sad day for a true Cowboys fan. Sad Sad Day

Posted by Since78 @ 11:11 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

The common theme that is apparent to me is that Romo does not have good hands. He has fumbled numerous times, and at the most critical moment, he cannot handle a good snap. The blame goes to him. Terry Glenn is a close second.

Posted by rs691919 @ 11:11 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

What did T.O. say?

Posted by steven @ 11:12 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Remember how much time was left. The defense would have never stopped them from beating us on a last second field goal.

Posted by Ben @ 11:13 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Tony takes the blame, but I don't hate him for it. I'm trying to draw some positive from this heart-wrenching loss. I'm hoping that Tony takes this loss, uses it, works ten times as hard in the offseason and comes in guns blazing next year to lead us to a Super Bowl. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger; let's just hope Romo believes in that.

Posted by gls @ 11:13 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Are you talking blame for the season...or just this game. We wouldn't have been here if it weren't for Romo. So, the game came down to the final play...but, lets count the mistakes and dropped passes, by the leading dropper...that all lead to the fact that the game had to come down to the last play. We had opportunities to win early, so blame the whole team! I'll blame Jerry!

Posted by Matt @ 11:14 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

This loss will be pinned on Romo but Parcells needs to leave...Parcells lack of coaching led to the collapse at the end of the year. 15 years ago Parcells was a great coach, now he is no better then Art Shell.

Posted by Juan Sabor @ 11:14 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Terry Glenn's fumble cost us 9 points. Terry Glenn is to blame, Romo second.

Posted by Bill @ 11:14 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Tony Romo
Tony Romo
Tony Romo
Nerves got to him no doubt. Hasn't fumled a field goal or extra point attempt all year and then this. I do believe Seattle would have eventually won the game anyway.

Posted by man @ 11:15 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

No one is talking about that dumb play call from the 1 yard line / you run the stupid ball - don't throw a freakin hitch...

Posted by gpaq @ 11:15 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Don't blame Romo!!!!! If it wasn't for for Romo 'Boys wouldn't be in playoffs! Sure Tony screwed up. But 'Boys should cut him some slack. Romo is our future. Whatever does not kill us makes us stronger! Romo will be back! I believe!

Posted by Carl @ 11:15 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Say what you want -- Roy Williams gave up 2 touchdowns to TE Stevens. Tony cost us 3, Terry cost us 2, Roy cost us 14. That's my take.

Posted by Bill @ 11:15 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Boy did this Romo guy go downhill quick.

Posted by GM @ 11:16 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

1. Roy Williams -- gives up 2 TD passes 2. Overrated Parcells -- didn't attack Seattle weakness 3. Tony Romo. I can't believe we lost. I'm sick. I need a counselor.

Posted by Bernardo @ 11:17 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

TO basically said that he feels bad for Tony and that he told him that he made great plays earlier in the year to get them to the playoffs so he should keep his head up.

I also think Tony did great over the season and had great effort, but that doesn't absolve him from choking.

Posted by tn @ 11:18 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Cowboys should've gone for it on 4th down. Make it, win. Make field goal, Seattle has 1 minute plus with a great kicker

Posted by baldy @ 11:18 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

parcells needs to be fired for that play call - that one play cost us 9 pts.

Posted by rs691919 @ 11:19 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

As I cool off, I take solace in Chuck and red's separate posts that this team wasn't going anywhere anyways. Romo has shown enough to be the QB (not the holder) next year. So who is going to be the coach?

Posted by Bud @ 11:19 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

One botched hold doesn't make you a bad quarterback-no matter how much it cost. So just demote him to second-string holder. There were other missed opportunities.

Posted by Ran @ 11:19 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Not even close to the worst loss ever. This team wasn't going anywhere. It hurts much worse when you know you're the best team and you lose the championship. Such as: the Ice bowl, Dallas - Baltimore Super Bowl, 2nd Dallas - Pittsburgh Super Bowl.

Posted by Josh @ 11:20 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

#1 Romo
#2 Glenn
#3 Roy
#4 Officiating (the last replay call was correct, but some of the defensive 'holding' and the pass interference calls were repeatedly terrible)

This game and the Washington game might have been the two most unlikely losses ever. The 'Boys sure know how to choke it away.

Posted by Bernardo @ 11:20 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

It really isn't about who gave up more scores now is it? It is about who didn't get the job done when the game on the line at the end. If the FG is good then all the stuff before does not matter. Then again, the D would have had to stop the Hawks.

Posted by gNat @ 11:22 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Fellas, when it comes to the last game of the season you gotta be a little more philosophical about it -- you cannot blame one player or coach for one loss. The Cowboys were "this" close to generating an incredibly positive buzz about the team and the postseason, I.E. had we won this game would anybody be complaining about December? Therefore, we must look on the bright side and try to remember that next season is full of promise. In the meantime, GO MAVS.

Posted by gwhiz @ 11:22 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Folks, it is what it is. Mistakes were made throughout the game by Rome, T.O. Parcells and the officials. Plays like that happen. That's why we watch sports. Look forward to next year.

Posted by Rob @ 11:24 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

How do you think Seattle fans feel! The way they played and the are going to New Orleans or Chicago? this is only the calm before the storm. We will be in your shoes next week.

Posted by Emmanuel @ 11:25 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Some things are just not meant to be.It's easy to put blame on any one person, but bottom line we didnt win the game. They play to win the game..and they lost. GO MAVERICKS!

Posted by Rob @ 11:27 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

If you think The officials were the cause of this game Imagine what Seattle felt like after the Superbowl last year. Romo will bounce back and come through next year.

Posted by Scott @ 11:28 PM Sat, Jan 06, 2007

Lets not forget Tony went from a backup to starter to pro bowl and playoffs all in a half of a season. That is a lot, I think our expectations were high and he did a good job on getting Dallas to the playoffs in half a season as the starter. Next season maybe we can win the division and get a 1st round by with Tony starting the whole year. I do agree they should have taken more chances down the field but what did we really expect??

Posted by SeattleFan @ 9:59 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

We Seattle fans know we just barely dodged a bullet and are grateful for the win. Romo did a good job and should be given some credit for what he accomplished throughout the season versus defining his performance on that one botched play. Had he not stepped in, Dallas would have never made it this far.

Posted by brad @ 10:20 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Good God people!!! Who is to blame? Last time I checked, football was a TEAM sport. When did it become an indiv. sport? So why not blame the Dallas Cowboy Organization??? You can't blame Tony for botching the snap, Blame the Org. for putting him in that situation.

Posted by ed @ 10:21 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

I would have to blame the coach, Got it! Romo got us this far but, after the first half he should have never been in the game, he can't produce under pressure, Bledsoe should have played to see if he could move the ball. There is a reason Romo has never started before this season and we saw it last night.

Posted by Pats fan @ 10:23 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

My condolences, folks. Helluva painful loss. Only thing worse might be to be a KC fan and be embarrassed as well. Romo and Green should both be put on suicide watch, and Herm Edwards retired to a nice college team.

As a longtime Patriots fan, I can tell you you wouldn't have won 6 games with Bledsoe. He can't get rid of the ball in clutch situations, and he would have been sacked at least six times. Even though Drew is a really nice guy, we're all relieved up here that fate replaced him with Tom Brady. No matter how it goes today.

I'm sorry the rush had to end this way for you.

Posted by juliak @ 10:33 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Tony, It`s okay eyeryone makes mistakes once and a while.

Posted by Torence @ 10:54 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Bradie James is a good guy with a grat story, but he is the most absolute worst mlb to wear a Cowboys uniform. He is the main culprit in the defencive collaspe late in te year. He is terrible and has to go.If people really knew what they were looking at they wouldn't blame Roy W for the last Stevens td.It was Bradies man all the way.Why did Romo audible out of the run play called and throw to Glen?Romo is a back up at best!

Posted by Mike @ 10:55 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Sorry Guys....I am a Seahawks fan...I have been taking medication but it hasnt been working...dont blame Romo, he really tried...why didnt you work over the pieced together DB's? you should killed us with the great TO and Glenn...on this outing the old saying " I rather be lucky than good " held true....

Posted by Squak @ 10:57 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Good game. You all just pooped the bed all season. People called the Hawks whiners for the officiating in the Super Bowl so to say the officials lost the game for you last night is shameful. I would take a look at your secondary and of course your "pro bowl" holder, i mean QB.

Posted by matt boyd @ 11:05 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Has no one said anything about the hail mary on the last play? Looked to me like if Terry Glenn dives, he catches that ball.

Posted by Chicago @ 11:09 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Chicago will kick the bejesus out of both these teams so this game is a non-plus. Dallas completely overachieved this year - just be happy Cowboys got a chance for post-season play.

Posted by Adam @ 11:10 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

The officals were clearly a huge reason why the Boys lost..Only 2 calls went against seattle, there was no go reason 2 reverse the spot of the ball and bogus PI calls..This was alot worse then XL..The calls that went against The Boys were game changing calls..The holding call that went against the Seahawks(that their fans moan and point to) was just 10 yards..Nothing in the rules that state the Dumb QB has to throw an int 2 plays later!!! And their PI call in the endzone last year was actually PI..What a joke

Posted by Zeke @ 11:12 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

How can yall blame TO? They hardly threw to him.
Questionable ruling on the one, but I can see it both ways. When it comes down to it, it is Tony Homo the place holder, not the QB.

Posted by Drew @ 11:14 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Ohh man I feel for the Boys! Choke-o Romo is not a starter! If he gets the job next year the Boys are in for a long season. See ya Choke-o!!!

Posted by john @ 11:38 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

terry glenn is to blame! romos snap only cost the cows 3 points to win, glenns fumble cost the cows 9 points. he doesnt fumble we might not even be talking about a fumbled snap.

Posted by GG @ 11:39 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Come on...does it matter that the Boys lost? They were lucky that they made it this far anyway. The same can be said for the sad Seahawks.

As for pinning this defeat on either the: QB, WR or the Refs, this only glosses over the major flaws of this cowboys team. The entire season was a mess. This team needs a major overhaul. TO should be the first one out the door...send him back to Philly..

Posted by Carol @ 11:40 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

T.O. is to blame - every team he plays on falls into ruin! Enjoy another failed season if you keep him!

Posted by Dean @ 11:42 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

hi -

the refs got it right when they overruled the touchdown, but not the spot? Seems like crybabies still are a Cowboy tradition. I was at the game and the Cowboy fans are such sore losers - compared to the fans visiting for other teams. It's strange - like when the Yankee fans get upset over losing to the M's.

Posted by VikingFan @ 11:52 AM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Stop your whining! As an attendee of the first Hail Mary game in 1975 where Drew Pearson committed offensive pass interference and got away with it, I have been whining for 31 years. Now, it's your turn. 30 years, 364 days to go. Enjoy. Go Seahawks!

Posted by Seattle_Bluegrass @ 12:13 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!! HAR HAR HAR!!!

The win went to the best team. Even GOD herself intervened to make sure the Hawks took home the bacon!!

Posted by Mark @ 12:23 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

All,

We should have known you CANNOT win in the playoffs with a Rookie QB! I just thought he would blow it with an Interception. We may never get over this loss, EVER! We are paying the price of having a jerk for an owner. JUST PLAIN PITIFUL!

Posted by David @ 12:39 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Romo- Thank you for a very fun, exciting season. I am thrilled about your future here and am very thankful to have you as our big man. Keep your head up, everyone posting here must totally be perfect (shame on you jerks, and Ill be watching next year!

PS- Thanks for getting us to the playoffs in the first place!

Posted by sal @ 12:51 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

1. 1st string QB that couldn't do the job.
2. 1st string kicker that couldn't
2. 1st string D that couldn't defend.
3. 1st string "superstar" malcontent receiver that couldn't hold onto a pass.
4. 2nd string QB that couldn't hold onto a ball.
5. Past his prime coach.
6. Meddling owner.
7. Deluded fans!

Posted by Vash @ 12:55 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Romo has to bear the responsibility for the worst loss I have ever witnessed in an NFL game. Other things happened earlier, like Glenn's fumble which gave the Seahawks new life (and eventually the lead), the defense allowing that touchdown to the Seahawks (but the def did a fab job overall), the dropped passes and the penalty. However, Romo lost his game single handed. I cannot believe that anyone could choke like this!

Posted by Jeff @ 12:58 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

All I can remember is the "The Catch" that is how much this one hurt! Not that this team was going to win the Super Bowl, but you only get 1 chance and they blew it. I live in San Diego and my brother n law tells me that we still have the Chargers (but they don't understand). This is Dallas and we expect championships. I don't blame anyone because as they say "this is a game of inches".....

Posted by pat gac @ 1:25 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

as a seahawks fan, there are those of us in the great nw whose hearts blead for tony, bill, and especially the fans. i cant imagine how bad yall must feel. but when T.O. came on board, you should have expected no less.

Posted by John @ 1:31 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Its so ironic that the Dallas defense stepped up in the game (except the last touchdown allow by Roy Williams), and the offense didn't step up. I would say the total offense is the blame especially Tony Romo. Most of his passes was not on target, offense line couldn't protect Romo and the offense play makers either could't make the catch or fumble the ball for a turnover.

Posted by Curtis @ 1:36 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Hurts..yes. But most painful??? I've never forgotten the dropped Jackie Smith pass from Roger Staubach. Trust me, a Super Bowl flub hurts worse than a Wild Card playoff loss from a team in search of itself. Keep your chin up, Tony. We're all human--even
Cowboy fans!

Posted by Louie @ 1:45 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

The whole team does. It shouldn't have come down to this. How soon we forget, if it wasn't for Romo we wouldn't even be in the playoffs.
At least next year we will go in knowing who are quarterback is going to be and not be looking at the AARP roster for fill ins.
Keep your chin up Tony, you had a great year and technically you're still a rookie.
Stay Focused, enjoy your off season and get ready for July.

Posted by Larry @ 1:53 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

As much as I hate to say so, this loss is on Parcell. Why would any coach take a chance on not attempting to kick the field goal on third down (considering the game, end of season, etc all riding on the success of the field goal) just in case of such a miscue. If Parcell's had gone for the field goal on 3rd down and the bobble occurred, fall on the ball and do it again!

Yes I know the clock, etc. were involved, but turn it over to the defense for the one time out and less than a minute to play and if they lose it they lose it, but you HAVE to be ahead to win.

Posted by M. Martin @ 2:04 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

"Team win-Team loss."

"We'll git'em next year!"

"Go Cowboys!!!"

Posted by Seahawk Fan @ 2:06 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

If you really want to place blame you should go for the whole Dallas team! They should have run away and had that game in the bag by the half with all the injuries that the Seahawks had going into and during the game the game.

Posted by Jeremy @ 2:14 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

1) Romo
2) Glenn
3) Officiating

I thought the coaching was fine; I doubt any other coach would even have Miles Austin in the squad.

Posted by JW @ 2:28 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Didn't get to see the but listened on my radio (I,m a truck driver). I bet Jerry was on the sideline at halftime. Doesn.t matter if they are ahead or behind, if he comes down at the half they have a 93% loosing record. We only need one trade, Jerry and he can take his bedbuddy TO with him.

Posted by Dave @ 2:38 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Tony Romo has been exposed, once again, for the fraud that he is. The fact that he's in the pro-bowl is a joke.

Posted by Liles @ 3:56 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

What about Marion Barber? I guess he spoiled us during the regular season. Drew Bledsoe should have been holding on FG attempts as soon as Romo became the starter. Parcells probably didn't want to bruise his ego by making him do it.

Posted by Chris @ 4:27 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Romo and Parcell go hand in hand

Posted by Fleet @ 4:45 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

This just in from the department of speculation: Koy Detmer will be the Cowboys backup QB next year. He just successfully held on the Eagles 19 yard go ahead fg in the 2nd qtr.

Posted by Dennis Sholl @ 5:21 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Well take your pick... Witten fumbled away the ball, Romo bobbles the snap, Glenn costs us nine points, T.O. drops some more, Roy Williams couldn't cover if his life depended on it, but most of all, I am sick of Parcell's strategy of not opening it up and playing it close so as to win it on the last possession... sick, sick, sick...parcell's i hope is gone!

Posted by GR @ 5:50 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Does anyone really believe the Cowboys would have won the game with Gramatica's field goal? There was still lots time left on the game clock. Do you really believe the defense would have held the Seahawks? Come on.......the defense couldn't hold'em when it counted and we were 6 points up. This would have been today's Dallas Morning News Headlines..."Seahawks win it with a field goal!"

Posted by GR @ 6:10 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

I'm convinced the Columnist and bloggers blaming Romo for the loss must be Washington Redskin fans! The Cowboys were in the playoffs thanks to Romo. He is the future of the Cowboys. Now the team has a QB to build around.

Posted by Bluestar @ 7:18 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

The reality that Romo is an average QB at best is beyond some fans here. He was an unknown coming in and with a little luck looked like a superstar until defenses started to prepare for him being the starter. Now you know why he was the backup. He's no Staubach or Aikman. I hope he has lost that stupid grin.

Posted by Josie @ 7:51 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Whewww...All I can say is that the Cowboys are going to make my husband and son have a darn heart attack...yes I'm very disappointed but they are in trauma...Maybe I can sue Jerry Jones...LOL

Posted by Opie @ 8:44 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

ANY COACH THAT IS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT THE GAME WINNING KICK ON THIRD DOWN IS TO BLAME.

FACT.

Posted by True Cowboys Fan @ 8:52 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

One thing about this loss is it has the fortunate effect of shedding unwanted BANDWAGONEERS! For every Romo hater, T.O. despiser and Jerry Jones ruined my team screamers, GO FIND ANOTHER TEAM TO FOLLOW! MY COWBOYS did pretty da-n good considering they had effectively a rookie QB at the helm. Fix the defensive secondary and get a new offensive coordinator who KNOWS HOW TO USE HIS PLAYERS and we will go deep into the playoffs next year. The loss sucks but I have no regrets considering our bright future.

Posted by The 12th Man @ 8:57 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Hey the only people to blame is the whole damn team.....if you blame the one guy who bobbled the ball at the end of the game you don't know anything about TEAM sports...the offcials did an OK job...Dallas just lost...GO HAWKS!!!!

Posted by khutch @ 10:31 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

I am sick and tired of everyone blaming Romo, and TO. A real coach would have adjusted to get key players involved. Parcells brought this team down himself. All year he never gave anyone credit for anything. Check the records, Parcells has done nothing since Belichick left his staff. Funny how his understudies are still in the hunt
(Peyton, Belichick etc.).

Posted by Big T @ 10:50 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Amen 100% to Opie. In re: Glenn -- he is not to blame for this, but how fitting that he should have a colossal blunder at a critical moment. That makes it almost 100% of the players who screwed something up royally this season. Glenn had been the rock of the offense until then. Could McBriar and DM Ware be the only ones wihout blood on their hands this season?

PS: I renew my call from right after the Tampa game that Crayton replace TO and become the #2 starting WR. That touchdown reach was a big-time play.

Posted by Lance Price @ 11:10 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Yeah this has been topped and may not even make the top 10. Super Bowl V versus the Colts, both Super Bowl losses to the Steelers, both NFL Championship games against the Packers in the 60's including the "Ice Bowl", "the Catch" by Dwight Clark, etc.

Posted by rhdj @ 11:27 PM Sun, Jan 07, 2007

Am I the only one that noticed the ball looked slicker than the rest in the game? I think it had more shine than my new car!!! We need A real Off. Cord. if we want to go to the next level. some fresh 3-4 coaches for defense would not hurt. The talent level is set we just need Tuna to let the Cords do ther job without his veto.

Posted by zbs @ 12:35 PM Mon, Jan 08, 2007

One person is not responsible for a one point loss or win. It's the team. Like David said, our first string QB couldn't take the team very far at all at the beginning of the season. Our 2nd string got us to the WildCard and seasoning will settle him down for the future. The Cowboys have a receiver that wouldn't know how to play on a team if his life depended on it. (BTW, why is TO on the team anyway?) The pass defense is just kicked back most of the time. The owner is a menace and won't let the coaches handle things. And then we certainly can't forget the mistakes in the game. When your best players make mistakes along with the usual suspects then you have big trouble. The Cowboys had big trouble in this game.

Posted by mjklouda @ 12:51 PM Mon, Jan 08, 2007

A bad loss, but not worse than the Ice Bowl, or "the Catch" game, where the Cows were clearly better than the Pack and FortyWhiners respectively. This came down to coaching: Not attacking their loan officer/DB weakness, not recognizing RWilly is a liability in coverage, not making the players take some responsibility: Laducoer(sp?) should have told the ref. that there is something funny about the ball, if there was indeed something on it. (Even Ditka, no Cow fan, noticed it). Romo will be fine, but watch Payton's Saints march to the SB! To think we had that creativity bottled up here and wasted! I have no clue who the next coach should be...

Posted by Tino @ 2:58 PM Mon, Jan 08, 2007

Stop blaiming the officials. The replay was incredibly conclusive - there was no first down. Only the biggest homer would try to argue that point.

The blame is on the defense for letting the Seattle offense march down the field in the second half. The Seattle O isn't even a shadow of it's former self - there is no excuse for letting such an injured group walk all over you. It was a matter of pride - or lack thereof.

Posted by Mel @ 12:23 AM Tue, Jan 09, 2007

I'm a Hawk fan but they shouldn't have won a playoff game. Why didn't Dallas throw more on that goofy secondary Seattle used? Dallas has talent. Romo will improve.

Posted by SEAHAWKS @ 8:24 PM Mon, Apr 30, 2007

GO SEAHAWKS GO! WE LOVE YOU TONY ROMO! lol
