That's one of the reasons why Bill Parcells said in a talk with Sports Illustrated's Peter King on Monday.

Look at some of the recent hires: Oakland brings in 31-year-old Lane Kiffin. Pittsburgh brings in 34-year-old Mike Tomlin. The New York Jets hired Eric Mangini last year, and he's 36.

Parcells will turn 66 in August.

For the record, secondary coach Todd Bowles is 43, passing game coordinator Todd Haley is 39 (he turns 40 next month) and running game coordinator Tony Sparano is 45.

How about Mike Martz or Mike Sherman?

You must really have arrived as a cornerstone member of the 4th Estate when 1) a sports writer calls a NFL head coach to give him career advice; and 2) he leads his weekly on-line article with that advice.
