Caldwell in the house

Indianapolis assistant head coach Jim Caldwell arrived at The Ranch at around 9 a.m. for his meeting with the Joneses.

The best thing going for Caldwell is Peyton Manning's endorsement. But has he made Manning or has Manning made him? It's like Troy Aikman. Did he make Norv Turner or did Turner make him?

Still, I like Jerry Jones interviewing these last two coaches because he could gain insight into how the Bears and Colts run things and maybe take a piece or three from them and incorporate into the Cowboys' plans.

actually, the best thing going for Caldwell is Indy's weather!
peyton's endorsement is a double edged sword - obviously there's a lot of credibility there, but along with the who-made-who question, if Peyton really liked him and wanted him to stay he would keep his mouth shut, wouldn't he?

ESPN reports that Caldwell is unlikely to accept a position with the Cowboys with Jason Garrett already hired as the OC. Which leads me to wonder why he is here.
I think that Jerry is doing the right thing by interviewing as many people as possible, but why interview someone who doesn't want the job?

Tom, a better question might be: Why would Caldwell leave a job where he has a QB that makes him look like a genius? As a HC without that QB, the Jim Caldwell who had a 26-63 record in 8 years at Wake Forest might resurface.

Great point by Todd, if nothing else we gain insight into two strong organizations and how they do things. Still, Caldwell is a weak candidate. Barry Switzer has a better chance at the job than he does.
