Wade Phillips was the first coach to interview with Jerry Jones without any ties to the Cowboys and it seems like he has been long since forgotten in the Cowboys' search. He continues to be in the thoughts of Jerry Jones and has told people with the Chargers he remains in the mix. Remember this: he has a 48-39 record in four spots and was 45-35 in his full-time gigs with Denver and Buffalo. |

John Clayton reported he has been in continued contact with Jones since the interview. Would still be a great hire, IMHO.

Please Jerry do forget Wade. Now this guy bores me to tears.

Yeah, and he would come with the experience of having been fired, not once, but twice (as has Norv Turner), so he would be prepared for the eventuality that most NFL head coaches encounter.

The new coach will have to deal with Jerry's expectations of Garrett being the 'head coach in waiting' anyway. May as well start with a guy who could give our defense some life. I'm not saying anything bad about Rivera, I'd be excited about that too, but... just... not... Norv. (sorry Norv - I live near D.C.)

Am I the only spoiled 'Boys fan out here? Doesnt it seem that JJ can do better than Turner/Phillips/Caldwell/Garrett/etc. ??? There has to be a coach laying in the shadows ..... like Parcells was the last time. Am I right ????? I read that DelRio was interested in the job but would he cost too many draft picks ????

Please!!!!! forget Phillps and Turner and hire either Rivera or Singletary.

And don't forget that Wade thought Rob Johnson was a better choice than Doug Flutie in that notorious 2000 playoff game against the Tennessee Titans!

Please forget Phillips and Norv. No re-treds.

Wade might turn out to be the best HC candidate. He can manage and organize very well, which is really what you want from your HC. The only move that would shock me is the hiring for HC of someone other than Phillips or Turner.

Let's face it: If the Cowboys want to go with experience, Norv and Wade are about as good as it gets this year. Who else is available? Jim Fassel? Steve Mariucci? Denny Green? Art Shell? Marty Mornhinweg? Do any of those guys evoke any emotions other than fear and loathing?

Wade is much better than Norv Turner.

Great move. See my earlier blog comment. I'm psycho!
