I almost forgot to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Terrell Owens joining the Cowboys. I'm munching on popcorn as I type. |

That's almost as bad as "celebrating" the birth of Osama Bin Laden.

He was a league leader in positive stats, drops, and drama...ESPN camped Eddie Werder out at Calley Ranch all season...I would say he delivered on his end...
And lets leave it to the football people to decide who to run out of town...

I think the name Romo will replace the Owens headlines next season. Owens wants to be a winner, he has proved that. Dallas wants Romo to be a winner, and thats not gonna happen. Wake up guys, we need a quarterback. I keep seeing these blogs about the offensive line and the weak defense. Hey, get real, the Dallas weakness has been at quarterback for 10 years. Wake up Dallas and open your eyes. The Cowboys can draft and trade all they want, but until they get a real quarterback it wont matter, and Romo is not the answer.

One of, if not the best FA signing in the last 10 years.

WHO?
(BTW, I only exiled myself for a week from Mavs Blog, not all blogs!)
You da Man, Tim! Thanks for being a great blogmeister!

It never floors me how the media can create heros and villans. Owens has been a great teamate... just ask Romo and the rookie (Sam Hurd), who he took under his wing.
Owens put his team before himself. I'll bet if that injury had happened to, let's say, Fred Taylor in Jacksonville... he would have opted for season ending surgery. T.O. plays through it, trying to help the Boys make it to the Super Bowl... and we gripe because of some dropped balls. What about his league leading 14 TD catches.
Owens gets hammered for his own field celebrations by Tom Jackson and the media, saying he puts himself before his team. However, when Ocho Cinco, I mean Chad Johnson or Steve Smith does it, they are colorful and what the game needs.

First off, Tim...you must be desperate for news for posting such a blog quote. Think out of the box, dude. Secondly, JB, you get real. I don't care how good your QB is, if you don't have some horses up front, you cannot dictate your game.
Posted by dbk @ 5:17 AM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
T.O. has no character, this was proven all season long with the multiple incidents going all the way into offseason. The idea that Romo is the problem and not T.O. is ridiculous along with the idea that he is one of the best free agent signings! T.O. like Randy Moss never will be a winner because he has no character

Allen what the h*ll are you talking about...dang you sound ignorant...!!
Posted by Bob @ 7:38 AM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
Well lets see, Owens led the league in TD receptions and Romo came in as a rookie QB and turned our season around and got the 'Boys at least into the playoffs. Makes me wonder if jb (he's not the only person) likes anybody.

If his hand is well, T.O. will make all Cowboy fans forget the drama and drops from last year. He will prosper under his new position coach. Look for him to be more of a leader and still fiery motivator on the sidelines much in the mode of Michael Irvin. This will help with the conceiving and birth of the new Triplets: Romo, Jones, and T.O. Thanks Tim for the reminder.

Can someone please give JB some game film to watch on Romo? He obviously hasn't seen him play. While you're at it, can someone please give him some film on the QB's between Aikman and Romo? Romo is the best QB we have had since Aikman. If another rookie had made the same mistakes as Romo had made last year it would have been taken with a grain of salt. HELLO!!! this was the 1st year as a starter. Cut him some slack. Personally I dont blame the offense for the problems last year that was all defense (can you say Roy Williams?). Go back and watch the Eagles game at Texas Stadium. Does anyone even remember when the Lions came to town?
Posted by Doug (GO COWBOYS) @ 9:46 AM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
OH BTW JB the Cowboys averaged 27 pts a game, Romo has a 95.1 QB rating. Where are you getting your information?
Posted by Larry @ 10:42 AM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
J.B., Apparently you know more about Romo than the entire cowboy organization, not to mention a lot of football guys who have played the position pretty well like Staubach, Aikman, etc. who say Romo is a good QB, with the potential of being great. Sure glad you set me straight because I was really thinking FOOTBALL GUYS might know what they are talking about.

Ahh, you Cowboys fans--you sound just like Eagles fans 3 years ago. I predict the same results too. He's the reason Parcells left (don't kid yourself). In his world, he now thinks he's "won" & that the team will revolve around him. Jerry has hired a sock-puppet coach to do just that--cater to TO's every whim, maybe even create a "TO ratio" reminiscent of the "Randy ratio" the Vikings had. You watch--he'll end up in his usual antics before the season is over. It took 2 years with the Eagles, a year with Parcells--so he should be down to about half a season with Phillips before he starts acting up. He's incapable of normal behavior.

Let's see-we have a key player who has not made a training camp, is a constant nagging voice, will throw anyone under the bus, admits that if not involved early and often [even though he drops one out of five passes] loses interest in the game and admits that he doesn't know the playbook. This is the best free agent ever? By the way, he won't catch a pass until training camp this year either, which I guess is OK, because he doesn't know where to go anyway.

T.O., T.O., T.O., T.O., T.O., T.O., T.O.! Forget the drama the media creates, this guy is a damn good receiver. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he is more effective with the use of 2 hands this season and not just one. Go Cowboys!!!
Posted by Larry @ 11:47 AM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
Hey, the delightful Maureen is back. Couple of things Maureen.
(1) So T.O. drove Parcells out of town? Pretty weak for a head coach to be run out of town by one player. Terrible thing to say about your heart-throb.
(2) Do you think you are capable of writing a blog entry without using the term "sock-puppet".
(3) Since you are not a cowboy fan and parcells is gone, can we look forward to the day when your rediculous negative crap will disappear from this blog.

I dont need game film on Romo, and please dont compare him to Aikman. Remember when Carter was the best qb since Aikman. I am a realist, and a die hard Cowboy fan. Romo came along when the qb situation was dire and naturally he looks good compared to what we have had. He will screw things up again, just like he did in the last few games of the season. As far as knowledge of Cowboy personel and talent, Jerry Jones has been in charge of that. Enough said.
Posted by dbk @ 1:41 PM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
J.B. you've got to be smoking something illegal. No, Romo doesn't compare to HOFers now but to think that T.O. is not a problem and is some kind of Messiah is a joke! There is a reason he didn't last in SF and Philly. And the same crap he pulled there he is pulling here. Never wrong. Never responsible except for red herrings he'll throw out. Great talent but no character. And now the talent is swirling down the tube.

C'mon JB? Twincy was the best since Aikman? Romo blows the doors off Twincy Tarter. He plays the same way he speaks - with a lisp. They have gone through a few QB's since Aikman. Romo stats speak for themselves. Twincy never had the QB rating that Romo has. WOW, I can't believe you would even put those two in the same class. Now that's funny. You are right he came along when the QB situation was dire, Thank GOD! Are you seriously telling me that the games he was in and won he had nothing to do with? You are way off on this one BJ. If you were a die hard fan you'd be a bit more positive than this. They will go 11-5 minimum this year. NOW, enough said!!

I THINK I LOVE YOU, MO!
Posted by j.b. @ 2:54 PM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
Come on Doug, pull your head out. You must have short term memory. When the season was on the line, Romo screwed up. He had 3 mediocre games. I have seen some great Dallas teams, and all of them happened to have good quarterbacks. Jerry Jones has a lot of people fooled, including you. How many quarterbacks are we going to go through before fans open their eyes and say this is a problem? There is no defense that fears Romo on the field.Just be patient and he will screw up.
Posted by Larry @ 8:07 PM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
J.B., let me introduce you to Maureen.
I think you two would make a lovely couple.
the negativity in the room would be overwhelming. What vibes!

Until Romo wins a playoff game, I'm afraid he'll be considered by most to be an unknown commodity, no matter how well he plays or who's (defense, coaching, whatever) the weak link.
Posted by D.B. from N.M. @ 10:11 PM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
J.B.
I think that Romo needs to work on some mechanics (how to lob passes) and thats where Jason Garrett will come in. Romo needs to hang on the ball better too and a better O-line will help but nonettheless, Romo IS a playmaker, you can't deny that. Experience will just make him better but its definitely too early to count Romo out and if he doesn't work out than I have all the confidence in the world that Brad Johnson could be the man to lead this team to a Superbowl. Dallas's weakness was not Romo. He did what he had to do with what he had.
Maureen,
Wade Phillips will go to the "playmaker" whomever it may be at that time and if its going to be with T.O. then so be it. If there is going to be a "T.O. ratio" then it will probably be because it was earned. Dallas has plenty of go-to guys....I'm not worried.
Posted by D.B. from N.M. @ 11:36 PM Mon, Mar 19, 2007
T.O. kinda reminds me of Juwanna Mann. If you've ever seen that movie you'd know what I'm talking about.
T.O. is arrogant, conceited, and he is full of himself. I've seen him make big plays and I've seen him drop balls. Sounds like I just described every single player in the National Football League. Only difference is he's more upfront and outspoken than others.....Big deal!!! His honesty gets him into more trouble than the original problem was worth. I like T.O. and as long as he is making plays more than he's not making plays then I'm OK with that. At least he isn't making "off the field" news like Pac-man is.
Lets just see how T.O. responds when he is getting positive acknowledgment and positive reinforcement by his new coaches. I hated how Parcells strong-armed T.O. by not acknowledging his existance. Even former Parcell's trouble-maker LB Bryan Cox was more disturbing than T.O. ever was and Bryan got positive acknowledgement back then.

DB from NM, it doesn't matter how T.O. is handled he has no character. True he does or at least did have talent but Steve Mariuchi, a "players" coach and Andy Reid, a "players" coach couldn't get T.O. to respond to the warm fuzzies and Muskrat love playing in the background. And is it honesty or stupidity that T.O. has a proclivity for? As a fan I want him to do well but as a realist I know that his skills are diminishing and what we have left is an over-valued commodity who maintains his lack of character.
Posted by D.B. from N.M. @ 3:23 PM Tue, Mar 20, 2007
dbk,
You are right. I agree. I wish T.O. cared.

I am not j.b. so don't bash me here. Maureen if you are so smart you would learn to stay out of this blog, dude evertime you comment you get bashed. T.O. will have a good season next year. And remember if your name is MAUREEN, stay OUT.
