It was nice to see Marco Rivera sitting in the stands and enjoying himself during Saturday night's Dallas Desperados game. Rivera answered questions from a few reporters concerning his status for 2007. Dallas has Leonard Davis now at right guard and should just move him into the starting lineup and count their losses with Rivera now. It's nice of Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner/general manager, to allow Rivera this time to get his body in shape to make an attempt to make the team after his second back surgery in the last three seasons. Rivera is a good guy, but its doubtful he will return in 2007, at least with the Cowboys. |

I'd love to have him as the backup at both guard spots in the ikely event someone goes down...I could be wrong, but did we not end last season with plenty of sapce on the salary cap, that would be ridiculous to do again considering the importance of depth in the league.

The Rivera signing will go down in my mind as one of the most puzzling free agent signings of the Bill Parcells era. Everyone knew who the better Green Bay free agent guard was yet the Cowboys threw big money at the older, declining guard.
I'm concerned that the Leonard Davis signing may be a similar poor decision.
If we could only play the what if game:
Cowboys sign Mike Wahle instead of Rivera and he plays left guard but moves to right guard when...
Cowboys sign Hutchinson to play left guard. The Cowboys would actually get their $49 million worth in this guard.
