Well, not quite, but the NFL's Competition Committee will request to the owners that the time before games equipment guys will have 45 minutes instead of 20 to work on the K ball. Conspiracy theorists maintained Seattle slipped a new, shiny K ball into action before what would have been the game-winning field goal attempt and eventually slipped out of Tony Romo's grasp. "We want to do everything we can to eliminate that perception," Atlanta GM and co-chair of the Competition Committee Rich McKay said McKay said the change was talked about before the Cowboys' mishap. He added that the balls will also be numbered in order to be used sequentially so the kickers and punters will be working with footballs that are not fresh out of the box. |

I'd say this rule change all but confirms that the Seahawks pulled a fast one to beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. Anyone want to bet that had it been Seattle lining up for a winning kick that a less shiny ball would have been tossed out there? At least one good thing happened after that loss, a reaffirmation that cheaters never win as Seattle lost the following week and I'm betting won't even make the playoffs next year.
Karma baby, its a good thing, and the Seahawks have a big Karma slap coming in 2007.

And let's start the Kharma-Train by signing Hamlin!

I thought the whole point of the K-Ball was that the League Officials, not the teams, controlled them?

I would buy this conspiracy theory, but I understand that each team provides their own K-Balls, so it would be impossible for Seattle to have slipped in a shiny ball at the end of the day. Face it, he just dropped it.

He dropped it, no excuses

Sorry Michael, that is incorrect. The HOME team controlled the kicking balls, not each team. However, it is a pointless arguement, because he did drop it but you can obviously see that Romo caught the ball and had control before the action of moving the ball down for placement. When his hands started to move down, the ball just slips out. So, it can be argued that it was very slippery by the replay and obviously the league is going to say that this rule was in talks before the incident. They would does this to prevent Seattle from any issues.
