Draft wish list

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was hoping to draft an inside linebacker but couldn’t for a variety of reasons.

Dallas also had several running backs on their draft boards at the start of Day 2 but much like linebacker, couldn’t find one.

“Numbers-wise, we probably would have liked another linebacker, possibly two,” Jones said Sunday night. “We need more linebackers because of the numbers that was something we looked at. You just can’t cover it all.”

On the running backs, Jones said: “With the three backs we got right now we’re in good shape there going forward.”

Coach Wade Phillips said he was happy where the team stood on the defensive line.
“We got six guys who played last year for us,” Phillips said. “You may keep seven but you usually keep six defensive linemen. We might get a few in free agency after the draft here to make it more competitive.”

Cowboys should sign Randall Godfrey now that they did not get a LB in the draft. No linebacker out there right now is better than Godfrey.

To: Jerry and Wade
Memo: Could we PLEASE give an opportunity to RB- Darius Walker! All the kid has done thru high school here in the very competitive state of Georgia, as well as during his stay at Notre Dame, is succeed and gain thousands of yards. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and can get the yards you need to get when you need them the most. He is faster than a 40 time may reflect, he has great "football" speed.

Todd Archer reported in this mornings live chat that the boys are signing some pretty good rookie free agents including the project QB I personally was hoping they would draft, MATT MOORE. This kid could be the real sleeper among the rookie QB's and seems a perfect fit for a project 3rd string QB. A lot of potential.

The above comment from Jerry Jones that: "With the three backs we got right now we're in good shape going forward". Obviously, Mr. Jones has not been watching the total ineptitude of the 'Boys running game during the past three YEARS. Everyone in the league knows that we must pass at crucial 3rd and short situations because the backs that we have, have not and will not be able to make the crucial yards that are needed. Maybe some of the corners can be changed to running backs...Yea, good luck !!

OVERKILL..Enough already with always drafting/ bring in lb's, thats all we've do since 2005. Dont they care about lack of depth behind aging Ferguson (unless Ratliff is gonna bulk up)?? Go get ERIC MOULDS as fourth receiver, or use a #3 pick in supplemental draft for one

Ernie, the 2006 stats show that the Cowboys were 13th in the league in rushing yards per game. They were 3rd in the league in rushing TDs. They were 9th in rushing for first downs.

In 2005, they were in the top half of all these categories, as well.

I'm not saying they've been dominating the league for two years, but these are serviceable numbers. They sure don't show "three YEARS" of "total ineptitude."

With the poor play from Bradie James last season it's no surprise to me they wanted another ILB. He seemed lost at times and couldn't cover TE's and RB's all season.

As far as RB I think we'll see J. Jones running as if his "paycheck" depended on it which it does since he's going to be a F/A after this season and will be looking for a big payday.
