There's only about 363 days until the Cowboys will be on the clock again, so I reckon it's high time to start searching for mock drafts.
SI.com came through in the clutch, producing the most ridiculously early mock draft in NFL history. But, hey, it's not like we've got better things to do now, huh? The Cowboys are projected to pick ninth and 25th. (I think the Browns' pick will be top five, but let's just roll with this.) The projected picks: LSU DE Tyson Jackson and Oklahoma State WR Adarius Bowman (right). Jackson would be a bad pick because of the Bayou Bengal Cowboy Curse, but Bowman would be a mighty fine replacement for another tall, athletic WR who won't be around Valley Ranch too much longer. Arkansas RB Darren McFadden, who you just know Jerry has a gigantic man-crush on, went No. 1 to the Raiders. |

And which WR might that be Tim? Do you honestly think JJ would let him go if he has another season like this past one. Not a chance in hell.

I would like to think that Dallas will have the 32nd pick in the draft, along with Clevelands 1st overall! But that's just me... Bring on McFadden!

First of all, I dont think the Raiders will be coming in last in 2007. They did a lot of good things on draft day. Secondly, whoever comes in last will obviously have a lot of needs and I would think be very receptive to trading the boys out of those two #1 picks. Welcome to Dallas Mr. McFadden!!!bye, bye Julius.

I could easily see Jerry trading up if somehow the clevelend pick doesnt bring the opportunity to grab McFadden.

no bowman please...he was not reliable at carolina while there and then was sent packing due to drug issues...package the picks and get mcfadden or if romo doesn't work get the qb...

Ok, as long as we're being rediculous, I'd be curious to know how Goose compares Darren McFadden to Adrian Peterson. (I remind you that Jerry considered trading up, possibly to get Peterson. By trading with Cleveland, he may now have a chance at McFadden.) Which is the better pro prospect?

If McFadden don't have a serious collegiate injury, Jerry will almost sell the store to draft him. I would, if he ditto's his 2006 performance. My speculation is that Cleaveland and Oakland will finish 1/2 for worst 2007 record. Smile, Jerry!

Cleveland will be pressured to play Quin early. It's hard to imagine them winning more than five in that division with a rookie QB. Now that I think of it, that 2008 draft pick was a damn good investment by the Browns and the NFL. They just increased the viewer ratings for Brown's games by roughly the entire Dallas Cowboys fan base. Their marketing department should make note and adjust advertising costs accordingly.

The Browns wil have 4 QBs competing for the starting job: Derek Anderson, Ken Dorsey, Charlie Frye, and Brady Quinn. Anytime you go into training camp not knowing who is gonna lead your team, you have problems. In that division, they're pretty much guaranteed at least 6 losses this upcoming season. Looking at their schedule, I could see them beating Oakland and 2 out of these 4: Miami, Buffalo, Houston and Arizona. Say they get a victory over a team they arent supposed to. That's a 3-13 record which would've been good enough for the #3 overall pick this year. Package that with a pick somewhere in the late 20s-early 30s (hopefully)and say hello to 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Darren McFadden (and goodbye to Julius Jones).

I'll pass on Darren McFadden , Marion Barber will tear it up this year and win the starting job I gurantee it. The Barber shop is open on Sundays baby!

I think we should reserve judgement on JJ until next season. See how he runs with an O line that can get consistent blocking and a fullback back in the offense. But even so a backfield with McFadden and JJ would be pretty sweet I'm thinking. Opponents would get no rest when either was on the field (like the Saints)

I hate to be a downer but with one year under his belt, Charlie Frye could make a big stride this next season. I don't know why the Browns would feel compelled to start Brady Quinn any sooner than we had to start Bobby Carpenter since he was picked at #22 (much cheaper than a top 10 pick). Even if you say he cost them next year's #1 pick that is just a #22 overall and a second round pick, much less than the cost of a #3 overall which is what the O-lineman cost them. He is the one that must perform.
Frye could have the same kind of season that Drew Brees had after San Diego picked Peyton Manning and traded him for Phillip Rivers.
If that happens, maybe Jerry can trade down with both of the #1 picks next year and get someone else's 2008 #2s and 2009 #1s giving us 3 #1 picks in 2009.

The rest of the world has finally caught on with our strategy of drafting 1st round DEs for the rest of eternity.

What JJ does in 08 with the first #1 will depend more on Romo than anything else...If Romo has an improved 08, then McFadden probably will reside in Texas next year...If Romo doesn't improve, then Brohm will probably reside in Texas. Either way, a WR will be taken with the second #1 or the second round pick.

Are you guys forgetting about "slaton" from w. virginia ? now let's watch him get busy !
Posted by Gary M @ 10:52 PM Thu, May 03, 2007
isn't slaton smaller than jones?...if jones goes for 1400 yds and 10td's will jerry pull the trigger on mcfadden?
