Pacman Jones' lawyers are appealing his season-long suspension, basically on the grounds that there's a bunch of thugs in the NFL. To prove their point, they put together a loooooooooooooong list of all the arrests of NFL players in the last seven years that The Tennesseean got its hands on. Only six players were arrested while they were employed by the Cowboys. That's well below the league average, even if you eliminate the Bengals. The Cowboys' arrests: 11/11/06 -- DB Marcus Coleman … DWI (immediately cut by team) 2/14/03 -- DE Peppi Zellner … arrested in Georgia on charge of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute (charges dropped) 1/14/03 -- CB Dwayne Goodrich … two counts of manslaughter after hit-and-run accident (serving 12-year prison sentence) 9/21/00 -- WR Joey Galloway … charged with misdemeanor assault on a police officer in Wheeling, W.V. (charges dropped) 4/17/00 -- OL Tony Hutson ... failure to appear on speeding charge and weapons charge (weapons charge dropped) 3/23/00 -- OT Solomon Page … Arrested in West Virginia on charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing police (pleaded no contest to lesser charge) EDIT: Thanks to VegasFan for double-checking my work. |

I know it will be brought up by some jerk that doesn't know his facts and doesn't like him but how many times has T.O. been arrested since he has been in the NFL? Or in his life for that matter? I think the answer ZERO!

Speakin' of thugs, are you sure that Michael Irvin wasn't drawing a paycheck of some sort 18 months ago when he was stopped for speeding (99 MPH) and arrested for possession of a crack pipe? Heard he's headed to the Hall of Fame ... or somewhere.

What does your statement about T.O have to do with the subject at hand STEVEN, its a totally different issue, T.O is a cancer on a team and is a distraction with all his sideline and locker room antics, he's not a team player, never will be, its all about him, The other list or subject stated is about criminal aggressions in society, BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

Derrick, my statement is that T.O. has never been in any legal trouble. Has never been caught with any illegal drugs. Has never been pulled over at 3am after leaving the club doing 90 down Greenville (or any other street in the cities hes played in). Has never been in the "wrong place at the wrong time" as so many other athletes use that excuse. But yet whenever someone like Pacman or Chris Henry or other players get in trouble with the law he is lumped in there with them. By who? The media. The same ones that turned a minor incident (mixing a painkiller with supplements and going to the hospital) into this circus atmosphere. ESPN is camped outside Valley Ranch leading off Sportscenter for a week over it. A little joke during training camp (Discovery Team cycling uniform worn BEFORE practice officially began) into this whole "bigger than the coach" crap. The ones who make T.O. out to be this terrible teammate are the media. Most all of his former teammates say he is one of the most passionnate people on the team and would do whatever it took to win. Sounds to me like the kind of guy I would want on my team. But the reason I made my first comment was because I knew someone would come on here and say something stupid like "Don't forget T.O.'s overdose incident" and frankly it really pisses me off.
Rant over

What evidence points to him not being a team player?
You have none, all people have is his sideline rants. Terrence Newman called out all of the cowboys Team and said they need to shut up and play, does that make him a distraction or a leader?

What about Quincy? Or did he get in trouble after he was off the payroll?

Before we rejoice how little the Cowboys have gotten into trouble in the 21st century, look over how many either before or after graced Valley Ranch. You have Marco Rivera, Aaron Gibson, Leo Carson who came in after their infractions, and Darren "What do 'Voluntary' mean?" Hambrick and Antonio Bryant, among those I've found, for those who left before they got into trouble with the law.
Is it me, or are 90% of these DUIs? You'd think these guys would realize they can afford a driver, and looks like there's a real drinking problem in the NFL, more than anything.

A driver? If you had never been rich and suddenly were able to buy a Ferrari, who in their right mind would hire a driver?

Did Peppi Zellner get his name 'Peppi' b/c he was always wired on the crack/cocaine?
So Pacman is basically saying he thought it was OK to get arrested 10 times in two years because other people were thugs too? Grow up, this is a job. Anyone else out there have a job who wouldn't fire them after the first 5, let alone 10?

Kudus to Jerry Jones for realizing that the Cowboys had a problem and hiring Calvin Hill to come in and mentor the young players. Jerry also committed to not drafting potential problem players. Example: Greg Ellis instead of Randy Moss. I am sure there are countless other examples that we don't know about where JJ erred on the side of integrity instead of talent. The data listed above speaks volumes. Thank you Jerry Jones.

I might be wrong but I could have sworn that Dwayne Goodrich was cut and looking for a new team when his vehicular manslaughter occured. I was certain that when that tragic event happened the headlines to it were "Ex-Cowboy Goodrich".

Dwayne Goodrich was not a member of the Cowboys when he was arrested. He had already been cut at that point.
