Wade Phillips didn't even bother to let Mat McBriar know that Brad Johnson had beat him out for the holding job. "He did not!" McBriar said when I informed him of Phillips' announcement. After I assured the Aussie that Phillips had indeed given the prestigious gig to Johnson, his brow furled while he glared silently for several seconds. "Unbelievable," McBriar finally muttered before swearing to give "the fossil" a battle during training camp. All the above quotes are real. Wow I'd like to have seen that - a furled brow! How'd he do that? Furl means to roll into a cylinder so McBriar must have a very flexible brow.
