Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones surrendered today to face charges in a strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting. He was released on $20,000 bail. He has a court hearing next month in Las Vegas. What are the chances this guy ever steps on an NFL field again? |

I would have to say the chances are REAL slim. Like maybe 5%. But let's not bury the lead here. I MUST know.......Was his bail paid in $1.00 bills taken out of a brown paper sack? LMFAO

Hopefully, he won't play ever again. Roger Goodell is slowly going to reshape the behavior of these thug NFL players that think they are above the law or they won't play anymore. The NFL has an image to protect and these players that continually defy authority have already left a bad taste in the leagues mouth for way too long and it's time for the league to cut their losses. Slowly, they are doing just that.

Not until he changes his off-field habits and ways (or so it would seem)

i hope he can clean up his act, there are always chances for a person let's just see how the trial goes, i think he will play agian!

The odds that he can stay out of jail or avoid more trouble during his current suspension seems to be pretty small. I don't think we will see him on the football field in an NFL uniform again.

Hopefully the NFL never lets this thug scumbag back on the field. He's proven that his biggest aspiration is not to be an elite football player but to be a lowlife gangster thug. Even after all the Vegas trouble, he's back in the news wanted as a witness to ANOTHER shooting outside of ANOTHER strip club. I'd put his chances at 2-3% of getting back on the field.

Jerry Jones would sign him

I don't want to read any Pacman fodder on this blog. This guy had one decent season, is a thug-hoodlum and this is a waste of space on this blog. If its Peyton Manning, then yes print it. But please, don't put Pacman crap on this blog. He doesn't deserve the space.

It's really easy to refer to these guys as thugs from the comfort of cyberspace. This guy wouldn't be a thug if he wasn't famous. He's just be another criminal to almost everyone reading the papers, and that's just sad.
On the plus side, at least he wasn't dumb enough to parade around with a pseudonym named after a neighboring country! :D

I think in the case of Pacman, the law will take this out of Goodell's hands. Apparently this guy cannot stay out of trouble long enough to get back on the field of play. God knows what else the nutt will get involved in before his year's NFL suspension is up. He will never see the field again, I think the only question now is will he stay out of jail.

Nice try.
Where's MacMahon?
Posted by Hanker @ 3:41 PM Fri, Jun 22, 2007
This is the biggest waste of talent since Chris Washburn was in the NBA. He deserves everything he gets. He will be in prison within the next 5 years. He's a pathetic human being.

I do not know why this is news on the cowboys blog, I think I read dalllas cowboys! Not titans. Please leave this type of crap with espn.

This is part of what he is currently serving his year suspension for. As long as jail time doesn't come into play, he'll be back in the NFL next year. Needless to say, he's one slip up away from a permanent ban. Hopefully the realization of what he stands to lose will straighten him up.

My question is whether Jeff Ireland and the Cowboys' scouting department flagged this guy as a risk before he was drafted.
Posted by kameleon_o @ 5:15 PM Fri, Jun 22, 2007
Sort of on topic but now Tank Johnson from the Bears was just pulled over for speeding and the police said he was "slightly impaired", whatever that means. The blood test hasn't come back yet, but if does come back that he was over the legal limit, I wonder what the new commish will do to him too??

Who actually cares!!!!!!!???????

Sarah, this is a FOOTBALL blog. Chill out.

Wow i guess im in the minority but I think this guy is 100% guaranteed to play again. for how long? who knows but he is a very good talent so someone will take a chance on him.
Posted by Brian C @ 8:10 PM Fri, Jun 22, 2007
I wonder if he played for the Cowboys, would this be an even bigger story and do you think the league would have been tougher on him? What do you guys think?
Posted by Rod @ 11:44 PM Fri, Jun 22, 2007
Absolutely no doubt he will be back. Bet your house and your ex-wife on it. He is a terrific talent. Terrific talent with good lawyers always find a way back into the league (See Ray Lewis). Lots of thugs in the NFL & NBA.
Posted by Calhoun @ 2:07 AM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Brian,
I don't think it would have made a difference. He has so many infractions against him that it wouldn't matter. It's hard to be lenient when busted 17 times.
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 8:53 AM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Ron, you are correct that Jones has some talent, but Ray Lewis gets it and Pacman doesn't.
Posted by Brett @ 9:43 AM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Wonder how the Cowboy fans would be reacting if Pacman played in Dallas. Has he done anything worse than Michael Irvin, Nate Newton. Jones has only been charged, not convicted of a felony, like these three former Star heads. Wake up and smell the coffee, if Goodell had been commish in the mid 80's, the Pokes would not have been able to field a team.
Posted by Rafe Hollister @ 10:35 AM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
DJM and Rod, I might agree with you IF this guy could keep his nose clean from this point forward, but Rod, I would bet my house and and all my brewing equipment(don't have an ex-wife), that there is no way he can do that. This isn't the end of his crap. Look at his record. About a dozen run-ins with the law so far and counting. If he hasn't done enough already, sooner or later the commissioner will ban this guy for life and he will end up in the CFL playing with Michael Vick.

Abe, your comment shows you are an ignorant racist. Juneteenth is a beautiful holiday celebrating freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. Every race has its thugs. Using your "logic" we should name a white thug to be master of ceremonies for a 4th of July parade.

Pacman, once out of jail and reinstated (which may be some time in the not forseeable future), will return to the NFL and play for the Raiders, who else?
He inspires the capitol "P" in Punk.
Posted by dave j @ 2:52 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
98% chance he'll play again. Roger Goodell will not reinstate him until he behaves like a boy scout. He seems like he has no hope, but once that money runs out he'll have to straighten up.
Once the NFL reinstates him, at least 10 teams will line up to sign him. And yes, the Cowboys will be one of the teams in line. This guy actually has talent and has produced on the field. Again, he won't be reinstated until his PR firm does its job and by then, he'll be a safe risk.
I'm not saying that's how it should be - I'm saying that is what will happen.
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 5:30 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Brett, your analogy is just stupid and biased. Michael Irvin and Nate Newton were not in situations where people had guns and got shot.
Another Cowboy hater, imagine that...
and for your information, I wouldn't want Pacman anywhere near the Cowboy's facility the way he's acting right now. Most Titans fans are done with him as well.
Posted by Paul @ 6:02 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Tremendous talent, but Pac-Man is involved in some extremely violent and criminal behavior. This is not like Ricky Williams or Odell Thurman. Jones seems to be incapable of staying out strip clubs, where he and his entourage are lucky to leave without someone getting shot. I think he should be in prison definitely not in the NFL.
Posted by Brian C @ 6:24 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Calhoun, I just think that he would have been suspended earlier had he been a cowboy
Posted by dublem @ 10:55 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
this comment is directed toward the moderator. i can not believe the "Juneteenth" comment by Abe was allowed to slide through. if contributors to the blog are not socially or racially conscience maybe the moderator should be.

Brett...I absolutely 100% agree that this moron will not stay out of trouble but he will be back in the NFL. I cannot think of a single Pro-bowl level player that hasnt made it back into the league after trouble. Again, some stars are a little dim but all have a home in professional sports.
Posted by Chester @ 11:59 PM Sat, Jun 23, 2007
Brett...Thanks for your input! Your story has grown very, very tiresome. Hope you enjoy your parting gifts! Bye!
Posted by Chester @ 12:10 AM Sun, Jun 24, 2007
Sad to say, but I say it's a 100% chance!
In today's world, crime pays, and there are no consequences for evil actions...so why would this be different?
Negative, or realistic? I don't wear no stinkin' Rose-Colored Glasses!

What I can't get is that Pacman isn't humiliated by all this. Maybe every dude around has been to a club at some point in time but anyone who endangers an NFL career to watch strippers is telling the world that he strikes out with women unless they're getting paid. So why broadcast that news?
