![]() LOUIS DeLUCA / DMN Just finished talking with our man Calvin Watkins, who was at Texas Stadium for the Cowboys' coaches clinic today, and he's got some news: Right tackle Marc Colombo had arthroscopic knee surgery about 10 days ago, according to owner and GM Jerry Jones, and is not expected to practice on Wednesday. The Cowboys will monitor Colombo during camp to make sure he doesn't get overworked. (UPDATE: It's Colombo's right knee, not the left knee that derailed his career in Chicago) Bookend left tackle Flozell Adams had a scope earlier in the off-season but is expected to be ready for practice. Colombo started every game last season after winning the job in training camp. He signed a two-year, $7 million deal this off-season. He participated in all of the minicamps and organized team activities without issue. Nerve damage in his left leg led to his release from Chicago after dislocated his patella, but he used the 2005 season to build strength in the leg, which paid off last year. Also, rookie reciever Isaiah Stanback is expected to miss the first practice because of shin splints. Of course, he's yet to sign his contract yet anyway. |

Which knee was it?

This isn't good news, but it doesn't sound too serious. Any word on how many practices he is going to miss?

My question is this. If he had a prior injury, then played a season that ended in February. Why did he just have the surgery 10 days ago? You can't really rehab meniscus damage, and if it's ligament then they knew at the end of the season. Doesn't make much sense to me.
