Todd Archer handled a boatload of questions in this morning's chat. Here's one of them ... bballcap: I think Dallas should be a top three team in the NFC this season. With this roster's talent, how can this be wrong? Todd Archer: How could this be wrong? Injuries. Romo doesn't play well. Injuries. The defense struggles to figure out Phillips' scheme. And did we mention injuries? For all of the good feelings going into camp, remember the Cowboys were 9-7 last year. They have some serious questions. They have a chance to have a special team, but fans in other NFC cities are saying the same thing today. |

The biggest question mark has to be (yes, Petey, aside from injuries) the new system. Not only is it a new system on defense, but a totally new approach on offense. No one knows how things will shake out in the regular season and Romo's feel and ability to move the chains with Garrett's game planning -- no one! The history and stats or success of teams with new systems offensively and defensively would be interesting to research and learn. I don't know the numbers, but I'd wager there's a steep learning curve for clubs with new systems. Cowboys fans be real, real patient!

I don't understand the love affair with Romo. He hasn't proven anything. Sure he seems like a nice guy but is Dallas so in need of a winner they are counting on Romo to give it to them? Just a question, I'm a basketball coach, too many guys on the football field for me.

According to Jerry Jones, the love affair boils down to two words.
Hispanic Marketing.

I'm not real smart Mr Bass, I hadn't thought of that. Good one!
