Anderson explains cricket eating

Rookie FB Deon Anderson confirmed that he did indeed eat a live cricket and gave me all the squishy details.

"It was kicking and everything," Anderson said. "I almost dropped it. ... It wasn't that bad. I thought it'd be worse. I was thinking about frying some up tonight for some protein."

Anderson ate the cricket to save 50 bucks, although he says it was more a matter of pride. He had bet injured RB Alonzo Coleman that he could throw an apple into a trash can located at the other end of the rookie locker room. Anderson missed on two attempts, costing him $25 a pop.

Coleman made a double-or-nothing offer, pointing to a cricket that was parading around the locker room. Anderson said the toughest part was cornering that little sucker.

FS Courtney Brown recorded all this ridiculousness on his fancy-schmancy cell phone. The veterans saw the video in the team meeting minutes later, confirming to all that Anderson is a little crazy. I'll see if I can get Brown to forward the video my way or perhaps put it on YouTube.

Full disclosure: I sure hope Anderson makes the team.

You keep mentioning the weight of several players that differs from dallascowboys.com and the Dallas Cowboys Star Magazine (Free at 306 versus 324 and Obomese at 235 versus 248). What is the source for your information? Why does it differ from dc sites?

Anderson has officially become my favorite player.

You gotta love the guys that are out there and a little crazy. Beats the heck out of those who preen, say canned answers, or blow off fans. Spread some love for the guy who's still a kid at heart, since he's playing a kid's game.

That's greatness. Indeed cool that these guys will lighten up like that. Jason Ferguson is another player who is great to listen to because sometimes he's pretty hilarious!
