Message to Marcus Spears?

Two defensive starters are still on the field: OLB Anthony Spencer and DE Marcus Spears.

Spencer is a rookie learning a new position. He needs all the work he can get.

Spears is a third-year veteran who has been a first-round bust so far. He played well in the second preseason game against the Broncos, but it sure seems like Wade Phillips is trying to tell him something while the rest of the starters sit.

I wonder what Spears' excuse will be this year. He's already used the people's favorite "Parcells made me stink".
