Rookie WR Isaiah Stanback played down the fact that he toasted All-Pro CB Champ Bailey during 1-on-1 drills. "He was guessing," Stanback said, explaining that the only reason he got open deep was because Bailey squatted in anticipation of a curl or crossing route. Stanback is smart to be humble. The last thing a rookie who hasn't even played in a preseason game needs to do is brag about getting the best of a superstar. And Stanback readily admits that receivers have a big edge in 1-on-1 drills, with no pass rush or safety help. Nevertheless, Bailey has built a Hall of Fame case in large part by squatting on routes and using his blazing speed to recover. To see Bailey fail to make up ground against a 6-2, 213-pound rookie was an eye opener. |

You know that commercial of NFL players that say when they knew they were NFL bound. Standback can now say he knew when he beat the best corner in the game during preseason 1 on 1 drills?

While it is good to see Stanback not bragging about beating Champ, it is even more pleasing to know he is fast enough that once he gets a step on you, he doesn't give it up!

Hold your horses Playmaker. It's still too early to tell, but that is a good sign. I think after this next game on saturday will know more. I'm sure Coach Phillips is going to give him plenty of game time to show us his stuff.

I think Isaiah Stanback should change his jersey number from 86 to 15 (that is once J.U. gets cut).
For one, Stanback is eligible as a receiver to play with a number in the teens. Secondly, he may very well be our emergency quarterback in the future.
Also, his initials are I.S., graphically similar to 15
