Let me welcome the fine folks of Houston to this here blog. I strongly encourage you to talk a whole bunch of trash. I mean, golly, why shouldn't you go wild over a preseason win? Houston native Aaron Glenn claimed he didn't even know the Governor's Cup existed, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to hide his hurt feelings. DeSoto's Patrick Crayton claimed the Texans approached this like it was a playoff game, but he acknowledged that the Texans earned bragging rights. Crayton also pleaded with the commish to make Dallas-Houston an annual regular-season rivalry. "Mr. Goodell, please set that up," Crayton said. I'm about to leave the Reliant Stadium press box and must admit I fear for my safety. Rowdy Texans fans might be rioting in the parking lot. |

Preseason doesn't count. 34-6, five rings.
Posted by larry giusti @ 11:33 PM Sat, Aug 25, 2007
I found it amusing that the Texans telecast had the president of the Texans in the booth for an interview, and he bragged that the Texans set a new attendance record for a preseason game of 70,000. He said they had 70,000 Texans fans there. What??? I saw at least 30% to 40% of the people there wearing Cowboys gear. Most of the Texans fans were Katrina evacuees still being housed in Reliant Stadium.

I am a huge Texans fan who attends DBU, and spend most of my time in Dallas, but I will not talk trash. It was a preseason game, and while our first team was very solid, I do not think talking trash does any good. I just want us to continue to improve and have a .500 record this year. Nothing more, nothing less. While I am no Cowboys fan, I love Wade Phillips and do wish him well.
Posted by Steve N @ 11:40 PM Sat, Aug 25, 2007
No trash talk ... just facts and a scoreboard.
Texans won't take a backseat to any team in the league, let alone the state. Preseason game 3 is a good measure of where teams are. Texans are ready to compete in the NFL, and with the new staff and management in place for year 2, we feel confident in our future year in and year out.
Scoreboard.

"I mean, golly, why shouldn't you go wild over a preseason win?"
You know what is sad about that sarcastic statement is that if your overly smug Dallas team had won you all would be talking non stop S%*t right now and for the rest of the year. Like last time.
But now that the game has come and gone and you got your butts collectively handed to you all have shifted into "it was just the preseason" and "the Cowboys weren't taking the game as serious as the Texans" mode.
I just got one question. Since this game didn't mean that much to you all apparently now why were most of the Dallas fans talking crap the entire week leading up to this game?
Posted by Terry in Salt Lake City @ 11:45 PM Sat, Aug 25, 2007
Triple347, what a small world. I also attended DBU and I'm a die-hard Texans fan. It was a good game, but us Texans fans shouldn't be talking any smack until we post a winning regular season record. Shaub looked great and Jacoby Jones looks like a draft day steal. Us Texans fans have something we haven't had in quite a while, hope.
p.s.-Romo will be fine. I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I think the kid will be a good NFL QB.

I am not going to talk trash. I am just going to speak the truth. Cowboys = sore losers.

Congratulations Texan fans on winning your version of the Super Bowl. We'll wait until Feb. to win ours.

Yeah, preseason doesn't count. Did you forget 19-10, buddy? So you're 1-1 against us. Wow....
And as for 30-40% of the fans wearing Cowboy gear, what game were you watching? Must have been the one that "didn't matter"....
Posted by Lazarus @ 11:56 PM Sat, Aug 25, 2007
I have NEVER understood Texans who dis either team! We're all family and should act like it. I can kick my "brother's a$$" but if you try, you gotta come through me.
I cheer for Dallas at all times EXCEPT when their winning would be detrimental to the Texans. I expect Cowboys fans to do the same.
When we play each other, Catie bar the door!

FOR THOSE OF YOU IN DALLAS THAT WILL SAY THAT THE COWBOYS DID NOT TRY TO WIN THIS GAME AND THAT IT DIN'T MEAN ANYTHING (PRESEASON)... WAS THAT YOUR FIRST TEAM OFF. AGAINST OUR SEC. TEAM DEF. IN THE 3RD QUARTER? YES I THINK IT WAS AND WE STILL HELD THEM.
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by swisher @ 12:16 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
All I keep hearing about are all of these Super Bowl trophies. Since the Texans have been in the league we have the same amount of playoff wins as the Cowboys: Zero. We were an expansion team. What's your excuse?
Posted by alfredo @ 12:31 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
I love beating the Cowgirls, Goo Texans
Posted by TexasOutlaw @ 12:32 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
I was at the game watching the Cowboys FIRST team trying to salvage a victory against our SECOND team offense and defense in the latter part of the third quarter. Couldn't do it.
It's only preseason but you gotta think your QB, RB's and D are not quite as good as you thought.
Posted by Redmustang03 @ 12:47 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
You know what they can have this win and we played like crap, but the only positive thing to come out of this is that we needed to fall back down to earth like this. You know what, the Texans can brag all they want, but they are not going to be any closer to being a playoff team this year, so lets not worry about this loss, its only preseason.
Posted by bnoble80 @ 12:52 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
I found myself at the JW Marriot in the Houston Galleria area today where the Cowboys spent the night before...yes, I'm from Houston and have never particularly been fond of the Cowboys...but since I happened to be there, I figured 'what the hey', and watched many of them all leave....three or four at a time...one bus at a time (security reasons, best I can figure)...oh, and some person driving on Westheimer tried to take a picture of the scene and got into a car wreck right where the buses were supposed to exit the hotel. Slow speed wreck. No one was injured. Gotta chuckle from the 40 or so onlookers outside the hotel door. Needless to say, with several HPD officers right there, it didn't take too long to issue those tickets and write up that traffic report.
As far as the game or the quotes above (like Clayton), it would be nice to have an annual Texans-Cowboys game instead of just preseason. But until that happens, will just have to wait until 2010 in Houston.
Posted by Saint Jimmy @ 1:15 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Amen Lazarus!!! We're all Texans here (and not the football team and excluding the bandwagon jerks that ruin the whole bunch) so what's with all of this poor sportsmanship between brothers? Just tip your hat to the winner, tell them we'll get you next time, and wish them luck. I've been preaching that for the past few days to these bandwagoners on here that were insulting the city of Houston and it's people. Hopefully this beatdown the Cowboys took will teach them a lesson. If not I'm going to refuse to associate myself with such trashy fans.
But with that said I do find these Texans fans talking trash very laughable. It's like when your little brother beats you at something that doesn't matter and won't shut up about it. Sorry, but it's preseason. The only thing about preseason that I care about is getting through it healthy. So little brother, come back and talk trash when you're able to bloody big brother's lip when it's for real. But go on and talk your trash...like I said, it just makes me laugh and roll my eyes in that big brother way.

Question?? Why would the writer assume Texans fans have same BAD manners Cowboys fans do, I KNOW he knows nothing about Texans fans OR FOOTBALL.
Thats why he writes a blog for Dallas Moron News (not to be confused with Startlegram in Fort Worth), because he doesn't let fact get in way of the WHINE (was only preseason, Texans wanted it more, YADDA YADDA)
So you telling me Texans had more desire, that is reason Romo had 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception BECAUSE ROMO DIDN'T WANT IT...ROFLMAO.
IF it was such a MEANINGLESS game, why have dozens of Cowboys fans run mouths over at Houston Texans message board. then when game over you have a better chance of finding a playoff win in Dallas.
WAIT I got it, you pulled same nonsense in 2002, trash talked (including players on HBO's Hard Knocks)Texans, then when got butt BEAT went into the usual Cowboys fans WHINE & EXCUSES.
Thats why I as a Texans fan, do not respect Dallas Cowboys fans. They run off at mouth and when lose you would easier find an honest politician OR they say I am an NFL fan not really a Cowboys fan (I call these Stealth Cowboys Fans..only when Cowboys win do they come out).
Get over yourselves Cowboys fans, better yet let's try some logic
You say Dallas Cowboys BEST in Texas, well since we beat your 1st team Offense & Defense for 3 quarters.
THAT MEANS HOUSTON TEXANS NOW BEST TEAM IN TEXAS!!!
Thank you for realizing superiority and character of Texans fans, hang around we may rub off on you Cowboys fans
Posted by One and Done @ 2:42 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
The author of this should just say "Cowboys defense looked good on this series/Cowboys offense needs a tune-up but should be okay" or something similar. Like a NORMAL game writeup for the average game, if the game was indeed just an insignificant preseason matchup. Or, this writeup should not have been done AT ALL.
It is more of a fan vs. fan thing more than the game action obviously, but dont even want to get into that, we all live under the same flag :-P There are a few Texas natives on both teams, but for the most part the starters on each team dont have many Texas ties...(we don't like thinking that but thats just the case) But jobs are up in the air and they should still have PRIDE in their on-field effort if they want to play. If the Cowboys dogged it, they deserve criticism and it just happens to come from Texans fans this time.
Still cant help but think if the Cowboys won and the probable puffing out of the chests and walking tall, and condescending demeanor that would have surely followed...

I'm from Houston and I pull for the Cowboys every game of the year except for one...the pre-season game against my Texans. Hope you got out of the parking lot ok Tim. I'm not going to talk trash about the Cowboys, but based on your post, I will offer you the same advice I offered up to our draft bust Mario Williams......you might want to check yourself for a yeast infection...........

I dont care what anyone says, but this is a HUGE win for the texans. in the last 5 years, there has not been much to be excited about, but now we at the very least have some exciting playmakers to watch.
the worst case - the texans go 2-14 again, but at least this season it will be fun and exciting, no more... run.....run.....2 yard pass....punt.
You cowboys fans need to get over yourselfs, because this means something for the texans. But you are correct that it doesnt really say too much about the cowboys. No greg ellis, terri glenn, and they dddnt play very well. they will be right there at the end of the year, so let us have our week of fun before reality inevitably sets in.
thanks
BOOMER SOONER, go roy williams!!!

As a fellow Texan watching the game from the Bay Area, it all looked the same, Texans wooped the cowgirls. As for the fans of the girls, you act like it ain't a big deal, but you guys have brought the blitz and game planning to every preseason game. I guess 11 years without a playoff win is starting to take its toll. ITS ONLY PRESEASON RIGHT!!!! Heres to the Texans 1st playoff victory and another playoff lose for the girls. Its a changing of the guard in TEXAS!!!!!

BDLS how do you explain the '92 Cowboys stinking it up in the preseason then winning the Super Bowl, putting 6 players in the Pro Bowl, cranking out one rushing champion, and setting the club record for wins in a season?
And why on God's green Earth would the Cowboys get up to play that team in August?
Here's the difference: We're actually competing for the division. To beat the Texans is no reason to give our rivals film of our system (the teams we play twice a year!). You guys will suck again so it doesn't matter.
Enjoy your PRE season win and keep that ugly cup.
Posted by Richard Lauer @ 7:30 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
And you wonder why no one likes the Cowboy fans. Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda. Always an excuse. I support the Cowboys but the reason we play games is to see who's the best on a specific day. The Texans won--Good job ; we have things to work on. We'll get you next time.
Posted by bigdaddy3lk @ 7:58 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
So many observations, so little space...
First: you knew that if you wrote it, we would come...and we did! HA! We win! We win! We win!! Okay, no big deal, really...still 0-0 like TO says. All Cowboy fans are right about that...
But, we live with the likes of Bill Lamza down here spewing his rhetoric about how great the 'boys are and thousands of transplants (why?) from your neck of the woods who continually rattle on about how superior Dallas is in every way. Little wonder that we look forward to going in to the office on Monday morning and seeking out those people to inquire as to what malady might have seized their beloveds this fateful weekend???
Plus, after two weeks of soundly defeating known playoff-caliber commodities like Denver and Indy, and taking at least some measure of pride in that, we Texans fans are a little 'hurt' that there doesn't seem to be a little more respect for what Gary Kubiak is building down here from anyone that has any remote association with Irving's Pride and Joy...
I haven't seen one comment from either Cowboy Player or Cowboy Fan or Cowboy Media Honk that says, 'You know, maybe that Houston team is a little better than people are giving them credit for.'
That respect ultimately will have to be earned on the field. When it is, six Super Bowl victories later, maybe these games will mean a little more to the Cowboys too...so maybe by 2043, you guys will be singing a different tune...

The biggest disapointment in the game, for me, was Roy. Well, I shouldn't say "disappointment". I picked him out as my sole "worry" in the blog on this subject a couple of days ago. Why is Roy Williams STILL missing tackles and giving up huge plays, even closer to the line of scrimmage? Getting REAL tired of the excuses.
As for the games results themselves, can't say I care anymore about them than the last preseason game against Houston? What was the score? These games are about preparation, not results. And the preparation shows a continuing problem in the secondary, with Roy and with the backup corners. Oh, and it looks like Grammatica has played his way off the team. We don't need another veteran kicker missing field goals AND extra points.
Otherwise, let the folks in Houston feel good about themselves. Another 6-10 regular season is coming all too soon. I just hope the Texans win enough games to finish above Cleveland, so the Cowboys get a higher selection off the Brady Quinn trade.
Posted by Harv @ 7:59 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
If the game didn't matter then why did you have your first team offense on the field again the Texans 2nd team late in the 3rd quarter? Was it to work on the interception drill???? And T.O....you got punked by a 4th round rookie.
I was in Dallas on Wednesday and Thursday and the fans were in rare form. Just like before the NBA playoffs and all the Mavs fans were talking trash about the Spurs and how that team was designed to beat the Spurs.....funny, they forgot to tell the Warriors.
The Cowboys are a good team. The Texans are an up and comer. I hope teams take the Texans for granted like the Cowboys did last night. It will make for a fun time in January at Reliant.

Typical Cowboy fans....Had you won, you'd be running colossal bandwagon smack.. We remember last preseason we played you and lost... But no, now that we kicked your butts with our 1st team, not to mention that the 1st team the field 3 series' before yours, you minimize it as a worthless preseason game.. Typical.. You remind me of Braves' fans.. When the team is down, the stadium is empty. When you are winning, everyone is a Cowboy die-hard. Don't give me the "die hard" smack.. I've been to no less than 20 Cowboy games. They are nothing more than a bunch of fur coats, jewelry and mojitos who have to ask "who won" after the game is over.. You aren't fooling anybody, "die hards".. SCOREBOARD!!!!!!!!

First off I'm a Texan, born and raised in the greatest nation in the world. Second I am a Cowboys fan, have been since I was a kid. I'm not a bandwagon fan either, I haven't missed watching a single game in 5 years. I've seen more bad times than good as a fan since I was still young in the early 90's and don't remember much. The Cowboys got beat, plain and simple. Got beat on both sides of the line. Got out hustled, Houston had more passion, more desire. And the Cowboys made a lot of mistakes, some forced by the Texans some not. Cowboys didn't handle the crowd noise very well or step up to the intensity of the Texans. So I will tip my hat to the Texans, good game. Matt Shuab looked good and Jacoby Jones will be Andre Johnsons best friend. Still not convinced about your defense but they definitely looked much improved over last year. But back to my first point, I am a TEXAN. Meaning I love my state, and I root for EVERY team in Texas. Yes, the Cowboys are the team I grew up with and love, but the Texans come in a close second. I watch every Cowboys game but I am sure to keep tabs on the Texans this year. Nothing would make me happier than to see two Texas teams playing in the Super Bowl. Same way I root for two Texas teams to play in the NBA Championship or the World Series. It's the best way to show the world what Texas sports and Texas fans are all about. I'm all for rivalries and some playful jabbing back and forth, but I get a sense of a real hatred between the teams fans. This is ridiculous. Have fun, enjoy the games, and stop hating other Texans. Good luck to both teams and here's hoping for a rematch in February!

Going on what we learned last year, you had to know the Cowboys were losing this one about mid-week when Bradie James was quoted saying, "we're not going to overlook this game...". Seems the Cowboys tend to get the stuffing beat out of them when they get a little over-confident. Way to go, guys. How do you stay focused for 16 regular season games if you can't keep focused for 4 preseason games?

I was there last year when we killed the Texans in a *real* game in Texas Stadium. The Texans have sucked every year since they have had a team in the NFL. So we should all just give them their moment of glory in winning a *preseason* game and then laugh at them all year when they lose 10 games.....like they always do.
Posted by Matt @ 9:17 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Hope trading out of 53 to get Marten proves wise as they passed on Eric Wright or Tarrell Brown, troubled talented DB's that fell - a desparate need - now. They also could use Jacoby Jones, looks like a steal, instead of Stanback.
War cutting Gramatica.
Posted by GabeHino @ 9:21 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
All I have to say is the Cowboys are proclaiming themselves as Super Bowl pretenders in PRESEASON and then they lose to the lowly TEXANS-so now its ONLY a preseason game of no importance. What kind of whiners are bred in DALLAS-I guess the type that are the Super Bowl Champions of Preseason-read the HEADLINES of your own Dallas Morning Star "Not Super Bowl Prone". So it errornous to say we as Texan fans cared more than Cowboy fans that see PRESEASON as an indication of the real NFL season.
Posted by jeo @ 9:23 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
crack me up. Cowboy fans. you truly do wear blinders. After the first two 'preseason' games all we hear is how great the cowboys are, they're goin' to the bowl.
So, now you stink in a game to, the other texas team, and suddenly its only preseason. governers cup?
in case you've not heard this before, that's EXACTLY why everyone in the NFL hates the cowboys. It's not the players. It's not Jerry Jones. Hell, it's not the Dallas. Dallas is in Oklahom, right? Anyway, it's you. The fan of the Cowboys.
Go win your super bowl because the team may be a winner, but your a loser.
Posted by jeo @ 9:28 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
...by the way, you know what they're saying in Houston today? It was a good game but we still have a ways to go.
I read in the News, Cowboys still ahve work to do. Hmm, kinda reads the same. I don't see the Texans declaring themselves for the Super Bowl. Again, it's you, the cowboy fan, that just doesn't get it.
Posted by Rick @ 9:30 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Cowboy fans should let the Texans and their fans have their moment in the sun. The Texans outplayed the Cowboys yesterday.
Does it mean the Texans are a better team? Of course not. It means they were a better team yesterday.
The Cowboys will be fine. With the way the Texans are improving, maybe we will finally have 2 Texas teams in the playoffs in the near future.

Posted by John Hansen @ 9:38 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
OK....now that everyone has calmed a bit, let's face it: Texans played hard, and well. Dallas looked past this game, expecting an easy win, and in the NFL if you let up (even against the worst team), you get beat. I'm sure Dallas will get beat by inferior teams in the regular season too. But for Houston, it's a sign of what we CAN do if we stay focused, and play with intensity. That's all it means.

It's obvious, having your 1s on the field in the fourth, against our 2s and 3s that you were trying to save yourself the embarrasement of a good old fashion a## whipping. Say now it's only preseason, what's the big deal, that's pure loser sniveling. Take it like a man for a change, you got beat, and beat bad. Ok Texas fans, you win. But please bring a real team to play for you this season, not the Arena quality teams you bring from year to year. When you can win more than 5-6 games in a season you will truly be able to call your heroes an "NFL franchise". Until then....JUST LOSE BABY! By the way, I remember the Texas beating us in preseason games before, David Carr fist pumping after touchdowns like it was the Super Bowl. Where is Carr now and more importantly : after those huge *preseason" wins against us, what happened in the regular season?
Posted by haha @ 11:48 AM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
HA!
For the past two weeks Dallas fans have been planning their Super Bowl party based on 2 preseason wins. The Dallas team has been playing there games to win, even managing to create some controversy over the play calling (not that I care, it is just obvious the Cowboys have been playing to win).
Now, the preseason game where the starters are in the longest (Hell, Dallas kept its starters in against our second team. How is that not trying to win?), all of the sudden preseason doesn't matter.
If the pre-season doesn't matter, then why were Dallas fans talking about the super bowl after the first two games?
Houston Texans played better and looked better in this game than the Dallas Cowboys

Sorry, Maverick, but if you cannot watch football without wanting to beat up the other fans just because your team didn't win, perhaps you should switch to watching Food network.

pretty sad these Texan fans getting excited over a preseason win.I guess thats all they have..since they haven't even had a winning season once
Posted by stevemdx @ 12:48 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
It felt really good to shut up all the loud mouth Cowgirl fans. Yeah, it was pre season, so that gives you a good excuse to be dominated by the Texans. You are not going to a Super Bowl for a long time.
Posted by anthony @ 12:59 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Let's all say this together "With the first pick in the Houston Texans select Mario Williams.." HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA....Yeah top notch organization. Could've had Bush. Could've had Young. Instead you use the number 1 pick in a draft on a 4 sack doorknob. Oh, I'll say hi to D. Davis for you guys. Don't get too upset when you guys have to rely on "the great ron dayne" for your running game after placing all your hopes on a fumble prone, injury prone back in Green. How does it feel to eat crappy Green Bay Packer crumbs? How many sack will the Texans give up this year? Have fun this season Texans fans. Yeah the Cowboys haven't won a Superbowl in a while, but at least the Cowboys get into the dance for a chance to go all the way. The Texans season is over by week 3. Then the Texans play for top picks. Oh by the way, it's nice to know that the Cowboys have won 5 superbowls, the Houston football teams, no matter what they are called will always be bridesmaids.

Man, the truth hurts. The Cowboys will be fine and lots of the fans on this blog will continue to be an embarrassment.*
*See the comment from "maverick". How lame is that? What's he gonna do, hit 'em with his purse?

ok you knuckleheads, here's my take.
Turnovers Dallas-2, Houston-0
Wins Houston-1, Dallas-0
End of story

Hmmm, a lot more "ALL CAPS" and masked profanity in this thread, which just happens to be the thread you invite Texans fan to. Coincidence? 34-6

Typical cowgirls!!! Your first team played well into the 4th against our 2's and 3's! I thought the girl's didn't care about the preseason!!?? The girls were talking about the Superbowl after 2 preseason games!! Please re-evaluate your team dallas! And please be careful when you cross back over the border to Oklahoma!!
Go TEXANS

Dallas fans: Quit being so defensive--you guys have five rings, right? As everyone is so quick to (correctly) point out, the Texans haven't done much to be proud of in their short history. So take it as a compliment that us Texan fans are pumped about beating a good team. I'm more happy about my team showing some signs of improvement than I am about the fact that it was the Cowboys we beat (okay, I'm pretty happy about that too...).
Posted by Hanker @ 2:31 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Don't you just love it when peple refer to the Cowboys as "Cowgirls"? I've never heard that before. How original.

TexanFans, Go To Your Room !

It's really amazing to me these people that come out of the wood work. I've never seen most of these people on this board before, yet they seek this blog out and talk a bunch of smack over a preseason game.
No, the Cowboy fans don't give a crap about the preseason. Just you low self-esteem having, Step sister suburb of Dallas, Houston fans who's team hasn't even had a .500 season yet.
Well get prepared for another sub .500 season. You people crack me up!
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 3:12 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
And another thing. Nobody's playing for wins and loses in the preseason. It's a glorified scrimmage and that's all. Working things out. So what if we as Dallas fans know what a Super Bowl contender looks like (unlike armpit Houston fans), and think that our team is capable of being there at the end of the season.
And the reason why our 1st team was out there in the 3rd quarter (Wade said before the game started that they would be) is, once again, because they needed to work on things. We know who's making our roster. The Texans still need to look at a couple more dock workers and bus drivers.
Hate us all you want you jealous Houston fans, but we will see another Super Bowl before you guys even sniff one for the first time. I used to root for the Oilers, but I refuse to support any team from Houston after seeing how you clowns represent yourself since getting your new team.
Dan Pastorini is probably ashamed of you people.

one word: PRESEASON.
any gloating if the cowboys had won would have been equally moronic as the stupid gloating by texans fans. i mean really, come on. the game means nothing, and even if the cowboys starters played a while, they didn't play the WHOLE GAME. doesn't that tell you something?
if you want to have hope for your team that's one thing texans fans, but bragging about a preseason game is just sad. really, really sad. the cowboys "beat" the defending super bowl champs in an equally meaningless game. PRESEASON IS WORTHLESS!
Posted by michael brown @ 3:37 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
i agree with crayton, texans-cowboys should be a rivalry game every year, and we could do it on the big thanksgiving day game! hell, everyone would take a side, draw the line in the dirt, two southern teams diggin in and fightin out. go texans... superbowl bound dallas is not! you should yall cling to SB wins well over a decade ago? no one on the field was even there then. it is laughable that cowboys should think SB every year when it hasnt won its division since the millenium
Posted by Richard LaRue @ 4:02 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
I am NOT a Cowboys fan but as a football fan I do respect some of their many accomplishments over the years. That being said, the Texans looked pretty good against Dallas but yes, it WAS pre-season. I'll take a regular season win over pre-season ANY day. My problem is not with the fans from Dallas but I would like to give a message to the Houston fans for Dallas: I - 45 NORTH!!!

It's not a rivalry if one of the teams and it's fans don't give a damn about the other team...
If there was any kind of rivalry, the team involved moved to Nashville.
It's a crying shame that you could find the money for a new stadium for these new spares, but you couldn't do it when you needed to save the classy Oilers. And don't give me a bunch of excuses about Bud Adams. Losers!!!
Posted by Ron Turner @ 4:45 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Man ,o, man for fans that say a preseason game doesn't count why the fuss. Is it because all week your coach had been saying that Dallas was playing this preseason as if it were the regular season? Or is it because all week Dallas fans were talking about this being an easy win and the Texans suck, only to have your crow served to you at 10:00 p.m. Houston time. Face it we know Dallas is a good team this year(not 5 rings good or 6 before you say it). I hope the whole NFL keeps you're idea of what our team is now. That will mean a couple of unexpected wins for us. Don't be surprised if you see us at 10-6 come Jan.
Posted by Maverick @ 4:46 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Ernest T...no, why do that? I'll hit them with your Mutha's purse. As the idiot who posted under my name, you'd have to show your face first. Obviously, you look like Timmah which is why you're hiding.

I am very proud that the Texans were able to look so good against such a great football team. As a Texans fan I can admit that we needed to see that from our team badly as we hope for the future. With that said, I hope the Cowboys have a great season.
Posted by chris @ 5:11 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Wow, you people take football WAY too seriously. It's just a game. It doesn't mean squat in the grand scheme of things. I can't believe some of you expend so much energy because you're way too proud of Texas and way too into football. What a pathetic bunch of posts.
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 6:11 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Chris, football is very serious in Texas. You don't get it, so it's not yours to have.
You're pathetic for talking about something you know absolutely nothing about. Stick to badminton, or ping pong, boy!
Posted by jesse @ 6:27 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
For all of the morons out there who still don't know the difference between a regular season game and a preseason game listen carefully. There is no game plans in preseason. There is no studying film and looking at each other's weakness. And I do not recall any game with meaning, with a 5-point lead or trailing by 5-points when the 2nd and 3rd stringers are playing in the 4th quarter. I think that it is pretty pathetic to be bragging about a preseason game. When the Cowboys beat the Colts in the preseason it did not mean anything. Didn't the defending Super Bowl champions lose all of their preseason games last year? And furthermore, who cares about the Texans? Speaking as a Cowboys fan I hate the Redskins, Eagles, Giants, Steelers, 49ers, Packers, and the Colts. Houston who?! Two regular season meetings. And in the history of Houston Oilers and Dallas Cowboys, how many postseason meetings? None! It might have been different if it wasn't for the biggest choke in NFL history. So keep the Governor's cup and we'll keep the last regular season win and the 5 Super Bowl trophies.

Just another Cowboy fan making excuses.
Except the loss and move on.
Posted by chris @ 7:59 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
No, Rodney. I get it. I get it real well. I get that football is more important than academics in Texas. I get that football coaches are paid more than teachers. I get that somehow you feel that talking trash to other people about football somehow validates yourself in the grand scheme of life. Ask yourself a year from now how much you care about this game.
It's a game. That's it. It may be life for the few chosen athletes who are paid to play it or report on it, but for the rest of us it's mindless entertainment at best. Expend your efforts somewhere that might actually pay off for you.
Posted by Allen @ 8:05 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
WOW COWBOY FANS, for not caring about this preseason game or it's "silly trophy" you sure are defending the lackluster performance of the boys with quite a bit of angst towards Texans fans.
It's ok though, I am suuuuuuure you would still be saying it's just preseason if you had won right? Riiiiiiiight. Just like you all did last year... wait, no you didn't, you bragged and bagged the Texans as minor leaguers.
I guess when your team gets beat soundly, what else can you do but cry all the way back up 45 to no mans land. By the way, if any of you try to say the Cowboys didn't care about that game, why did they play their starters at all? Much less three full quarters... Get back on the horse Cowboy fans, you'll be alright. After all, you get to play in the weakling NFC.
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 9:44 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Chris, if you read everything that I wrote you will see that I don't care about this weekends game. Maybe you need more of the academics that you spoke of in order to have better reading comprehension.
Don't tell me what to do with my time. I've been around the a few times on my own dime. I have my own boat, and a cabin in the mountains. I go to the Caribbean 3 times a year. Is that enough of a life for you smartie? I happen to like football alot. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Why do you even bother to post over here if it bothers you so much?
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 9:54 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Allen, beat soundly? What planet are you from? What was the final score again? Playing your starters for 3 quarters in a preseason game has nothing to do with wanting to win. If you truly knew as much about football as you do being a smart alec, then you wouldn't be making such ridiculous comments. The Cowboys are installing a new offense this year.
Once again for those of you who don't pay attention to reality, preseason games are nothing but glorified scrimmages that line the NFL owners pockets. Heaven forbid if the Cowboys coaching staff should want to do their job and take advantage of working against another team before the "real" games start.
Posted by Rod @ 10:02 PM Sun, Aug 26, 2007
Congratulations Rodney! Wow, all that and you live in Nashville too. Boy.
Anyway, i'll bet Atlanta is about sick with their two 1st rounf draft picks these days.
The Texans are not a bad squad if Green and Schwab stay healthly. We struggled to find a rythme last night but a couple times we made it look pretty simple which is a positive to take away from the game. I saw a lot of Texans celebrating that looks as if they thought it was September but they did play better than expected (and us). We'll see in November if it carries over.

I have a real good laugh when Cowpaddy posters have to run down the city of Houston because they got whipped. I've seen comments about Bud Adams, Taking in dying Katrina evacuees, the humidity and so forth. Some of you people don't realize that this makes you look even more stupid than you really are. Maybe there is a little jealousy because the Texans maybe an up and coming team. You see, we are entering our sixth season, what had the Cowpaddies down by 1966? About what the Texans have done. And some of you claim to be hardcore football fans. Give us a couple of years and then call us out. As far as the two cities? I've traveled all over the world and when I mention I'm from Houston they say " Nasa, Astrodome, the worlds greatest medical center. On Dallas they mention the murder of President Kennedy there. Pretty sad.

Rodney,
"Don't tell me what to do with my time. I've been around the a few times on my own dime. I have my own boat, and a cabin in the mountains. I go to the Caribbean 3 times a year."
This is ridiculous. A man says put energy into something else and this is your retort?
No self respecting, responsible, and intelligent man would have to resort to this type of self proclamation.
What next? Your dad can beat up my dad?

WOW, very classy of the Dallas fans. Yes it was the Texans super Bowl that is why the Texans pulled their starters before the Cowboys did. As far as Dallas fans saying (James Kingsmill) you will wait until Feb to win yours, just like you have done for the last 10 years.
Dallas has as many playoff wins as the Texans have. Of course you bring up the 5 super bowls, I could bring up Dallas record it's first 15 years in the league, but that would be looking into the past not present.
Oh wait, that is exactly what Dallas fans do. Let me know when they win something this decade.

Typical Crygurl fans... If y'all had won the game, we would be reading how great y'all looked. When y'all lost we ALREADY knew you would have the typical stock cowgurl CYA's lined up..
1. It was a play-off game for the Texans
2. It was a pre-season game....
wah, wah, wah.....
It was hillarious watching the Crygurl bandwaggoners run with their tails between their legs, after talking so much smack... LMFAO...
At the end of the day, we all knew it was a pre-season game too. Bottom line, our starters out performed your starters... No more, no less.

Dallas and the Texans have the exact same amount of playoff wins since the inception of the Houston Texans franchise.

Seems you Boys have a hard time getting a win in Reliant. lets go over the results since the first time yall played in H-Town. 19-10, 18-0, and finally 28-16. Maybe you should bring your horses when you come down here, or I know it was the humidity was it not, It certianly could not be Dave Campo, and Wade is a NUBE so lets lay off of him, I got it it was that Corners fault, your back up corner could not contain a Rookie, nor could your punting team, First String Punting team. You can brag all you want about your prehistoric Jewelry but you cannot win in Houston that is a fact.

Posted by anthony @ 6:04 PM Mon, Aug 27, 2007
Let me get this straight, all the Texans fans say the Cowboys are Cowgirls, Crygirls, whatever else and that they haven't won a playoff game since the Texans have been in exsistence. So since the Cowboys are not any good, and the Texans beat them in a preseason game, that makes the Texans a good team? That is like say I s*&k but you s*&k more. You guys really want to brag that the Texans stink less? Ask any football fan, other than Texans or Cowboys fans, or expert and every single one of them will admit that the Cowboys are and have been the better team since the Texans came into the league. It doesn't matter that the Texans are an expansion team. Carolina and Jacksonville were expansion teams and they made the playoffs and won in their first few years. The Cowboys have been and always will be "THE" team in Texas.
Posted by Wolf @ 8:11 PM Mon, Aug 27, 2007
I am a Texan and Cowboy's fan(fan of Texas football), Things that bug me on this..some fans like to talk the smack before the game and when they game is over, don't like to eat it.Also, I find it hard to believe Aaron Glenn didn't know there was a Governors cup.. Aaron grew up in Texas, played ball in Texas and played for both the Texans and Cowboys, heck the gov cup has been going on since Oiler's days.. also most teams in the NFL treat the 3rd week as a tuneup for the reg season. How funny Cowboy fans (some) sound like Bronco fans from a week earlier ... sadly Cowboys have as many wins in the playoffs as the Texans do since 2002...here is to 2007 (Cowboys and Texans) give them heck! kick Philly and Kick Indy!

Posted by Wolf @ 9:04 PM Mon, Aug 27, 2007
thing is about the expansion teams that have come in... Carolina and Jacksonville did wonders with the new "salary cap"...Teams didn't know how to protect their players and now teams protect players better and have a better handle on salary cap.. Houston had as an expansion team but Lord, at least it isn't Cleveland

1. Texan fans are responding to YOUR fans blog. We were not bragging about anything - except to those MANY arrogant cowpuke fans talking smack BEFORE the game.
2. If you knew anything about football, you would NOT compare the Texan's expansion draft to the Panthers and Jaguars, or the Browns for that matter. Different deals entirely!!
