Thanks for coming up with such a good roster. Way to go out on a limb and guarantee 35 of the 53 selections, especially after watching every training camp practice and two preseason games. That's maybe one more than my 19-month old daughter could do and she's struggling with the Cover-2 concept right now. Cover-3 she has down cold. If you were joking, well, then we need to freshen up the material. Hey, it's preseason for everybody. Not to totally bag on Tim because he makes sense on his picks. Really, he does. For those of you who believe leaving Matt Moore off the final roster is a major gaffe consider this: why would, just for example, the Bengals want to claim a quarterback for their final roster when he has no clue about their offense? I'm not guaranteeing Moore would make it through waivers to the practice squad, but there is a pretty good chance it would happen. Even better than guaranteeing 35 of 53 spots. So here's the projected practice squad: Moore, nose tackle Remi Ayodele (assuming they keep just six defensive linemen), running back Alonzo Coleman (Jackie Battle's ankle injury hurts his chances right now), tight end Rodney Hannah, linebacker Alex Obomese, cornerback Alan Ball, wide receiver Mike Jefferson and a yet-to-be determined offensive linemen. We reserve the right to change our mind, so don't hold us to this. |

Hahahaha. So Courtney Brown doesn't make the roster or the practice Squad. Yeah right! He beats Elam for a roster spot. Get real guys!

Boy Todd, you have some nerve kidding Tim about his 53-man squad, which is really very good, when you come up with such a nutty practice squad.
For starters, you say there is a "pretty good chance" Matt Moore might make it thru on waivers. To keep a spare on the 53 you gonna take a chance on losing a young guy who just might be the real deal? That would be crazy.
Not room here to go into all your practice squad selections but to mention a few:
No way Alan Ball makes the practice squad over Courtney Brown.
No way Mike Jefferson makes the practice squad over J. Urban.
I think your 19-month old daughter did this practice squad for you.

Ooooh Timmy got put in his place!! Not only does he piggy back on Todd's roster breakdown but he dropped the ball on the practice squad and Todd picked it up and ran with it. That's why Todd is in print and Timmy is stuck in the blog.
As for the practice squad. Nice attempt but Remi will make the team. Where's Courtney Brown? He's making the team somehow. I agree that Matt Moore will make the practice squad. Your point is very valid in addition to 1 good quarter in preseason doesn't mean squat. All these idiots boohoo'ing the idea of losing Moore is hilarious to me.
Larry, I hope your feet are clean because you just put it in your mouth. Urban isn't elligble for the practice squad. How does it feel to know a 19-month old girl knows more about football than you do?

Anyone who thinks that a team won't hesitate to pick up a young quarterback who shows promise and has excelled in the preseason games, just because he doesn't know the new team's offense, needs to be covering golf.
Teams can pick up 2nd-string quarterbacks just before the season starts and have them ready to play in less than a month. It's not ideal, but you usually just have the backup for injury protection, which, hopefully, won't happen before the new QB is up to speed.
Now, how much of the offense does your 3rd-string quarterback need to know to chart plays on a clipboard? Besides, if your 3rd-string is playing meaningful time, isn't your season pretty much in the toilet anyway?
Whether Moore might be claimed up off waivers will depend on how he shows in the remaining preseason games. Certainly not on whether he knows another team's offense. He has already made cutting him dangerous. If he continues to perform like he did in the first game, if we cut him, we lose him.

I must say, NOT a very nice group.
Having said that, I must point out an obvious mistake. Jackie Battle will beat out Alonzo Coleman for a practice squad spot.

On the whole Matt Moore on the practice squad thing. You do realize that if we release Moore and another team picks him up that means he's on their 53 man roster for the year. Not a whole lot of teams are going to want a project UNDRAFTED FA QB taking a roster spot. Especially when that QB hasn't been in training camp with you all year. Especially when he's only had 1 good quarter against scrubs under his NFL belt. Now if he has two more good games this argument becomes moot. If the Cowboys are smart, we'll be taking a good look at Richard Bartel these next few games and not Moore.

Saint Jimmy,
Wow, I guess you are right. Overlooking the fact that Urban is not eligable for the practice squad does make me NFL illiterate.
I have probably forgotten more about NFL football than you know ol' buddy. Apparently you have been looking for something to get on my case about because of past comments I have made about your postings, so enjoy my monstrous error.

Todd, you don't have very many nice things to say about Matt Moore. Didn't you cover Bartel in high school and college? Is that why you can't see what everybody else sees in Matt, including the Cowboys staff. Yes, it was only one good quarter...against the defending Super Bowl champs, in his first ever appearance in an NFL game, and he looked awfully comfortable doing it...against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Oh, I forgot, he was also playing along with the Cowboys 2nd and 3rd stringers too...hmmmmmm!

There is no way Coleman makes the practice squad over Battle.

Larry, you flatter yourself if you think I even know you or what you've said to me in the past. In fact, if it weren't for a comment made on sports radio about Urban that reminded me of your dumb comment I wouldn't have even seen your reply to me in this post. And I never called you NFL illiterate although I should call you outright illiterate since that's what you got from what I said. Man, I'm still laughing at the size of your ego to believe I was "out for you". Even if I was how the hell would I know if "Larry" was you or some other guy posting. It's not like that's a very original name. But at least you got one thing right...you are senile.
