When Wade Phillips hollered at the Cowboys before Saturday's practice, he swore to cut the next player who was late to anything. TE Andy Thorn found out the hard way that Phillips wasn't just talking tough. Thorn's release yesterday came hours after he missed curfew. Now, Thorn obviously isn't a huge loss. He might have been the team's third tight end, but it's not like he's a far better player than Adam Bergen or Tony Curtis. Thorn is the kind of player a new coach can use to get the rest of the roster's attention. Flozell Adams and T.O. had to hustle to make it to yesterday's walkthrough in time. It would have been sad to see two key starters go, but I'm sure Wade would have stuck to his word if they didn't arrive at the Alamodome in the nick of time. |

So what would he have done if a star player would have been late?
I don't know that Coach Phillips would cut T.O. or Aaron Glenn, or Jason Witten, or Terrence Newman.

He might as well quit if he tried that! I don't think Jerry would go for it at that point.

A star player would have had an "excuse" and that "excuse" would have been believed. Something like, "I got a flat tire and my cell phone went dead"....Wade would say "Okay starting player X, just don't let it happen again, so you are not cut...but you will not start against the Colts." and that would be that. Always easy to make an example out of some no name guy, ya know?

LOL, no one believes Wade! No even his grandkids!
Cut Romo cuz he is late to practice??? .... LOLOLOLOL ...
I am 100% sure Jerry Jones will cut Wade long before any starter sees the waiver wire. Hell he balls out coaches for hammie stretching.
You media guys forget who runs the Cowboys. You can't take a number 2 in Valley Ranch with Jerrah's approval.

Hell no he wouldn't cut TO or Romo or any starter. No coach in his right mind would. You can't treat all players the same! Ask Curvin Richards if Jimmuh treated everybody the same. And Robert, said coach got bawled out for sending Hatcher and other guys to run sprints without letting them warm up first. Get your whining straight, Eeyore. That was stupid, and Stewart deserved what he got.
