Miami coach Cam Cameron and DE Jason Taylor just visited with Dallas media via the magic of the conference call. We asked their thoughts on the Patriots' caught-on-tape cheating scandal. Cameron played dumb, pretending he didn't really know what was happening. Taylor demanded consequences for the Dolphins' AFC East rivals. "I think they should have all their games disqualified and not be allowed to make the playoffs for the next four years," Taylor said. Taylor was kidding about that. He said he actually laughed when he heard about the Patriots' sneaky sideline methods. "I thought it was funny," he said. "I don't think there's anything new under the sun in the NFL. I'm sure it's been done before." |

Wade Wilson gets suspended for 5 games for something that doesn't directly impact the game, and he's had a stellar record of integrity for his entire NFL career. If they go soft on Belichick, it's complete BS. He's been suspected of cheating for a long time, hell he even cheated on his wife. All the attention is on Belichick, but who's actually paying the guy? That's all on Kraft. He made a pompous comment about the Jets complaining only because they always get beat by the Pats... well duhh.. if you're cheating It would be hard to lose wouldnt it?

For once, lets let the league office complete their investigation before we pronounce sentence.
But Jason Taylor, cheating is cheating and is not a laughable matter if it really influenced the outcome of a game(or many games? we don't know yet).

completely unrelated to this topic, but what's the word on Terry Glenn? Is he still thinking about it? Does the delay mean he's going to do the microfracture surgery instead of the scope? Could someone, maybe, do some reporting on this?
Related to the topic, if it violates league rules, they ought to be sanctioned.

Wrong! This makes all those SBs won by the Patsies hollow and empty. The players and coaches may have gotten more money by cheating. But if I'm a Patsie fan, I feel like I've just won a 200 meter race against Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson--except that Lewis and Johnson had to wear 300 lb. weights around their ankles.

they should forfeit this game AND a 1st round draft choice, at least. The pats have done this before so they should be penalized hard

The Pats are a disgrace to the league.Especially Bill Billachick,so is that what makes your defense so great?Lol.The COWBOYS will have to punish them we they come to BIG D.

Routine or not, shame on the Pats for needing to stoop to this level. Sure casts a different light on 3 Super Bowls in 4 years.
I want to see Goddell treat the Pats like he has treated Pacman and Vick:
** 1st and 2nd round picks in 2008 and 2009 gone
** Suspend Belicheat for the duration of the season (and make him apply for reinstatement in 2008)
** Forfeit the Jets game last Sunday.
If it's just draft picks, it should be pretty easy to say the NFL has a double standard, especially where African-Americans are concerned.

I think Belichick should get a 5 game suspension or WORSES remember Goodell " COACHES SHOULD BE HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD " This is Belichicks Doing so he should get Suspended !!! so should any Coordinators and assistants involved.. Craft should get a fine and Loss of Draft picks.. This is Way Way Worse that what Wade Wilson Did ?? What do you guys think..?
RODNEY IN NASH AND MIKE.. No I didn't want Glenn he would've got MOSSED on Sunday. BUT.. Tory James and Sammy Davis are 6'2 - 6'1" and can give us a physical Man to Man Bump and run that Glenn couldn't.. That's all I was saying.. and just have them until Newman gets back... that's all I was saying

I don't know about a playoff ban.. but.. they should get their 2008 1st round draft pick taken away. I think that would be enough to slow down the cheating.

I essentially agree with the serious portion of Taylor's comments, give me a break what NFL team has NOT done something like this to give themselves a "competitive advantage". I feel they should be punished given it is a rule, but more so because of their stupidity in getting caught. Again, MLB, NFL, whatever, every professional sports club does something at some point in time to give themselves that good 'ol "competitive advantage".

Belicheat - "Honestly, guys...I thought it was just the kiss cam."
The NFL will punish him severely by making him wear a brand new clean sweat shirt with sleeves still attached during games.

Suggested penalty for the Pats:
2 game suspension for Belicose (and fine him)
Loss of 2 draft picks next year
10% reduction in the Pats salary cap for the next
3 years

Someone here came up with a new logo for the Patriots. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=121&f=1851#s=121&f=1851&t=1005687

I'm not a Patriots fan by any stretch of the means, but you all are completely naïve if you think EVERY team is not doing something this. There's a reason why coaches hold the play cards up to their face when calling in signals. What do coaches in the coaching box need binoculars for? Hmmm. Like Brian said, the Patriots were just too arrogant and stupid. Given Goodell's off season track record, the punishment will fit the crime. Just be careful what you ask for, b/c if this happens to the Cowboys, I'm sure many of you will be singing a different tune.

Wade Wilson got 5 games then so should Belichick. Plus at least one if not two 1st rounder’s.
And how do you misinterpret a rule that says no cameras or recording devices are allowed on the field, sideline, and coach’s box on game day.
Bill, what part of NO did you not understand?
Posted by ernest @ 1:07 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
What's wrong with cheating? The only thing wrong is they got caught. Like my hero Chris Collingsworth always say, "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying". Who cares if they cheated. They will Beat Dallas with or with out resorting to cheating. I am now officially a Patriot's fan!
Posted by Victorb @ 1:07 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
Give Belicheat the Pete Rose treatment. This should NOT be tolerated.
Posted by PaulC @ 1:23 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
Malcolm, do you have any evidence of another NFL team cheating like this? The Patriots were specifically warned not to do this, after being under suspicion for cheating for several years. Now, we have evidence. I know of no rumors about other teams. Do you? What teams??? Attempting coverup the Patriots' crimes by smearing other teams with no evidence will not work.

I'm sure this spying thing does happen all the time as I'm reading everywhere, but what I think is obvious is that this is the Patriots, which is why the sports media is basically pronouncing this controversy as silly with "move along, nothing to see here" like attitudes toward it. You see, the Pats are the current darlings of the NFL and media establishment (much in the way the 49ers' organization was during the entire 1990's). They can do no wrong, and even if they do break the rules it's admirable because they are doing what it takes to win. And besides, those are silly rules anyway, now aren't they? Is there any doubt that if this were one of those teams most of the league hates, like the Raiders or Cowboys, that the attitude would be much different? Or if this had been the Jets spying on the Pats, and not the other way around? Hmmm...I wonder.

Well, the words of "don't do the crime, if you can't do the time" seem befitting. Whatever that is. I agree that cheating should be unacceptable in any fashion. But make it fair.
NFL has had some bumps and bruises with their reps and it must be equal treatment mo matter what or who.
AND FOR THE RECORD, this cowgirl can't wait to meet the PATS...we aint neva scared!
Posted by vee gee @ 2:34 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
The punishment should include, but not be limited to:
1. Ban all Patriot coaches from wearing hoodies.
2. Require them to all wear suits through November. Beginning in December they must wear suits on the road and speedos only at home games.
3. Require them to watch 10 hours of video per week of Tom Brady's kid for the rest of the season.
Posted by Scurge @ 2:35 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
It's only cheating if you get caught, well you got caught. Coaches are held to a higher standard so there punishment should be higher. I don't think the fans or players should be directly punished for this (ie draft picks). Fine and suspend the head coach for 16 games, and no TV commentary jobs for those 16 games.
Posted by Habib @ 2:43 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
Belly check is a smug jerk and I hope they lose high draft choices and this is disgraceful act by a guy who acts like he invented football.
Posted by Parcells Guy @ 2:52 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
Now we know why Donovan McNabb threw-up in the Super Bowl.
Those cheating Patriots have a lot to answer for!
As punishment, let's put Belichick in the closet for seven minutes with our most senior member (the clock doesn't start until the door closes).
Posted by Cory @ 3:21 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
Wasnt it the Dolphins who knew the Patriot's snap count last year? I am sure that they don't want to get involved in being judgemental. Besides, isnt it nice to get the "offseason behind us and only play football?" Well, nevermind......
Posted by Malcolm @ 3:22 PM Wed, Sep 12, 2007
PaulC, I wouldn't give up my resources (no snitching here), but I live in an NFL city and know quite a few NFL players. We talked about this in the barber shop and it wasn't even an issue, rather it was funny that they got caught. Second, I'm a Cowboys fan, but I'm not naive or overzealous. I'm not saying what they did was right, but if you think they are the only team doing this, you are crazy. Listen to the players comments from around the league, NOBODY is surprised. Why, b/c this is what some teams do. Don't get the word professional confused with integrity.

I hate this attitude these days of "everybody's doing it, so it's no big deal." I'm seeing the decline of human civilization happen in my lifetime. What a shame.

THE PATS ARE THE BEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL AND THATS COMING FROM SOMEONE THAT IS NOT A FAN!
ALL THESE TEAMS WOULD GIVE THEIR EYE TEETH TO GET INSIDE THEIR THEIR RIVALS HEAD THROUGH ANY MEANS. THE COWBOYS TRIED IT AGAINST GREEN BAY BUT STILL COULDNT BEAT THEM IN THE BIG GAME
THOSE OF YOU THAT THINK YOUR OWN TEAM IS ABOVE CHEATING NEED TO WAKE UP TO THE REAL WORLD.
AND T.O. PREDICTING 50 POINTS A GAME IS THE BEST JOKE IVE HEARD IN MANY YEARS. HE NEEDS TO CLOSE HIS MOUTH AND LET HIS BRAIN CATCH UP IF THATS POSSIBLE.

First, the Patriots should forfeit the Jets win. Second, they should be penalized a 1st and 2nd round draft picks this year, and a 1st and 3rd round picks next year. Then Belichik should be suspended for 8 games. If Roger Goodell can suspend Wade Wilson for unknowingly taking a "performance enhancing drug", when Wade is no longer a "performer"(player), stating that he holds coaches to a higher standard than the players, Belichick KNOWINGLY broke the rules of the game, so if Goodell does not come down harder on Belichick than he did Wade, I will have lost all respect for Goodell.
