![]() Getty Images DE Chris Canty glared at a reporter who asked if it was a relief that the Cowboys wouldn't have to deal with Tiki Barber on Sunday night. "You're going from a running back that's 200 pounds to one that's 260 pounds," Canty said. "Would you feel relieved?" Barber, who retired but still rips the Giants on national TV, was an elite back who especially excelled on plays such as draws and screens that showcased his elusiveness. Brandon Jacobs, Barber's 6-4, 260-pound replacement, figures to do most of his damage by lowering his shoulder pads and punishing tacklers. "Brandon Jacobs brings an entirely different element to running the ball," LB Bradie James said. "They're kind of old-school with that. We know they're going to try to come out and do their best to test our will. "We know that we've been in a few games with these guys where it's been an all-day sucker, where we're fighting the whole time. I have no doubt that's how it's going to be." |

I remember the game at Texas Stadium last year, the defense was completely unable to stop Jacobs, they man-handled the Cowboys D. I am hoping that things will be different with Jacobs getting all the carries this season.

Larry, if you read this, I'd like to get your opinion. If the Cowboys finish 9-7 or lower and miss the playoffs, do you think JJ will: A. Fire Wade Phillips. B. Keep the status quo. C. Give Coach Wade a 2 year extension with a raise.

The facts are that Brandon Jacobs has ran effectively against the Cowboys when giving the oppurtunity, remember last year when he ran smooth over an unblocked Bradie James and didn't break stride. The Cowboys hands are full with the Giants backfield combo. Wade has to sure up the strong-side which includes a underacheiving Spears (DE), a green Spencer (OLB), a overhyped James (ILB), and Willams (SS). The only relief is if the strong-side comes to play.

Well, given the DL, Bradie James and Roy Williams played football last year like the French fight wars, I give Jacobs a 95% chance of steam rolling them for 200 yards.
I can see now this wonderful 1-Gap blitzing scheme running right by Jacobs as he barrels through arm tackles.
I just wish these D players would stop making excuses for everything.

Boy, I really feel sorry for some of these Cowboy fans. The season hasn't even started and they're predicting doom and gloom and worrying about worst case scenarios. Hey, Larry, why don't you follow another team and stop bringing everyone down? You not only know squat about football, but your glass isn't even half full, it's totally empty. There's room on the Carolina bandwagon, where Matt Moore will lead them to the promised land. "Fans" like you make me nauseous.

Does anyone actually think the Giants medicore O-Line can open up the holes for Jacobs consistently to allow him to put up big numbers? I don't see it! Jacobs had a 69 yards on 15 carries last year against the Cowboys. Yes that is a 4.6 per carry average but you need to read through the numbers. His biggest single gain was 11 yards and that was on a 3rd and 18. He also had a couple other 3rd down and 2 carries that the defense could not just play eight in the box.

Oh Please, Anthony. What gusto to post that on a Dallas blog. Jacobs is horrible. I doubt he gets 50 yards Sunday night.

Giants medicore line? They were I believe 5th or 6th last year in least amount of sacks allowed, I wouldnt call that a bad line. Their line is very underrated and did really well this preseason if you saw them play (first string line didnt give up 1 sack). I am afraid of Jacobs myself, he is a monster and I hope we have an answer for him but I dont think we do

Last year when Jacobs was in the defense was pretty sure he(Jacobs)would get the ball, this year it will be harder to key on him.If Jacobs can get past the LB's the corners and safties will have a long night.

I believe that the O-line of the Gints has dramatically improved, and is as physical as any other in the league. Add to that a big and fast RB to go with Shockey and you have a very punishing unit. If you do overplay the run Eli has the ability and tools to make you pay. You better get pressure on Eli or its going to be a long day.

Are you guys talking about BRANDON JACOBS? He was positively mediocre against the Cowboys last year.
MikZ why is it going to be HARDER to key on Jacobs now that Tiki is gone? The guy didn't even get 100 carries last year! I'll be surprised if he gets less than 250 this year as the starting tailback.
And Tommy...
1st and 10 at NYG 20 (3:37) E.Manning sacked at NYG 12 for -8 yards. FUMBLES, RECOVERED by BLT-H.Ngata at NYG 12. H.Ngata to NYG 12 for no gain (C.Snee).
2nd and 10 at BLT 45 (4:37) E.Manning sacked at NYG 50 for -5 yards (J.Johnson). FUMBLES (J.Johnson) [J.Johnson], touched at NYG 50, recovered by NYG-K.McKenzie at NYG 50.
1st and 10 at CAR 25 (4:52) E.Manning sacked at CAR 28 for -3 yards (S.McClover).
shEli and the Giants are dead meat if he can't consistently deliver on a three-step drop.

martin,
eli's had a pretty nice preseason, and the giants' pass rush looked scary at times, even without strahan. this team will be a lot better than people think.

I have no faith in our team this year. I think we are going to lose to the giants this week, jacobs is a monster and eli has improved a lot, look at his preseason games. newman is out and glenn will be on one leg. This is not good!
