![]() AP We always get the opponent's coach and a star player on the phone Wednesday. It just so happens this week that Lovie Smith and Brian Urlacher know Tank Johnson awfully well, so they got peppered with questions about the Cowboys' controversial addition. Neither had a negative word to say about Johnson, who was visited by Smith, Urlacher and several other Bears during his stay in the Cook County Jail. "I am excited for Tank," Smith said. "Guys need a second chance in life a lot of times. I think what they're going to see is that they’re going to get a guy that made a few mistakes but is a good guy in his core. "You know how it happened with us here. It didn’t have a happy ending. I still believe in him. Now, I'm anxious. Sometimes you need a change of pace, a new scenery, and that’s what he’s getting. I'll just leave it at that." Urlacher described Johnson as a jokester who was a fun guy to be around in the locker room. "We miss him," Urlacher said. "We miss his play on the field also, but he moved on. Hopefully he does well in Dallas." |

Wow, that is really classy. Rarely has anyone said anything so nice about a former teammate who screwed the team over by getting thrown in jail. Has anybody said anything nice about Vick, for example?

Sounds like Tank may not only exceed Fergie's production on the field but could fill his shoes as funny man in the lockeroom as well.
Can anyone find out what # he's gonna be assigned since his 99 is already taken?

Comments like that make me feel good about the sign, because although he's had off-field incidents... he is not a locker room distraction, nor a bad attitude guy.
All reports of him from Chicago are nothing but compliments about him in the locker-room and on the field. Just cross your fingers he keeps his nose clean in Dallas.

This is not surprising to hear about. There had been indications that Tank is far from the monster that he's been portrayed to be. I think he will help us to reverse the late season trend recntly.
And, btw, in addition to this signing, I read where there could be the possibility of us being interested in Jason Taylor if the Dolphins were to put him up b4 the trading deadline? I don't know about the rest of you fans, but I can envision a 08 1st rounder (not the Cleveland pick) for Jason to have a Charles Haley impact and Super Bowl run. We would get another good 4-5 top years out of Jason and forget about Ellis...and allow him to tutor Spencer and/or the Hatchers of the world. Think he has the ability to drop in coverage as well.

Charles, I would welcome the chance to get a Jason Taylor, BUT,
No way in the world am I gonna give up top draft choices in next years draft after watching the RB at Arkansas. Hold on to those high draft choices and trade up and get this guy. He is a monster.

^ Charles -- No, No, No, No, NOOOOOOO!!!!
Go and get Taylor if you want to (I personally don't think he's worth it), but do NOT give up a damn first round pick for him.
No way!

Larry, how was Franklin? How come you didn't stop by and see me in Belle Meade? Did you see Tim and Faith at Bread and Company?

I think that Tank is going to have to relocate to a home around here. Its obvious that he isnt getting any love from the AZ pd Dept. He is going to be hounded, just because they are upset that he doesnt play for the home team. He has a target on his back. Looking at the offenses he's been charged with, it sure seems like he has being harrassed.
