DeSoto's finest, Patrick Crayton will move into the starting lineup if Terry Glenn misses any significant time with a knee injury. Crayton, in his fourth-season, is an unrestricted free agent after the season and this potential opportunity to start raises his value to the Cowboys.

Calvin, in reading both your posts on Glenn and this one on Crayton, to comment on the first one about Glenn and his second injury to the right knee potentially being serious, I completely disagree with the sentiment that the Cowboys will go out and find a WR or need to do so. I feel Crayton can and will do a perfectly fine job in the starting lineup, and also feel as though Hurd will step up given the opportunity. How have the Eagles done with their "no name" group of WRs? Pretty doggone well haven't they. Why could Romo and the 'Boys not do the same with Crayton and Hurd manning the spot left open by Glenn. Now, if we're in week 4 and the two of them just have completely blown it, then you absolutely must go out and scour the waiver wire for help. Maybe they could bait Keyshawn back in the uni...JUST kidding. And, you never know, maybe just maybe Stanback is this season's Colston...it can happen.

It'll be a big challenge for Crayton trying to show the NFL that he's for real. Just gotta hope that Glenn won't be out for long. He's the only WR with pure speed and the offense will miss his talents if he's out for an extended time.

Maybe it's just me... I'm just not sold on Crayton yet... especially as a starter. I always felt Glenn was the most valuable receiver besides Witten, no matter if it was TO or whoever else was the no. 1

I like PC but the problem lies in the fact that he cant stretch the field like TG can. While I agree that he should prove to be a decent #2 (looks like TO wont have to worry about getting passes thrown at him now) PC will not command the kind of attention that TG did and it will ultimately affect the other skill guys. And what happens if TO goes down? We need to add another WR and I'm now REALLY ticked we didn't keep Urban.

If this is a serious injury I'm thinking it may mean that the T Glenn era is over. If he's out this year he most likely will never play again. Once a knee goes at his age he loses a step and, without his speed, he can be a serviceable WR, but not a starter.
I think this may be the opportunity for Miles Austin. He's 6'3", has great speed, and looks to have nice hands. Turn him lose and see what he can do.

It is hard to believe that they won't bring in the WR that the Patriots released (and the CB that they got from the Bears and released). The Cowboys actually tried to trade for that CB before training camp. No way am I sold on the WR's below T.O. on the depth chart.

If Patrick Crayton was anything special, it would have showed by now. At best, he's an average receiver. I guess that means the GM has got to come up with something. And THAT worries me.

Anyone recall Crayton caught 93% of the passes
thrown to him in '06 ? Led the NFL in this stat.
Recall the catches in traffic he made last year ?
PC is a player, let him do his thing. Ditto for
Hurd, the new #3.
Cowboys are OK at WR - not like they passed on
a crack-shot starting WR in the draft, not like
Urban was any answer, nor is some "guy off the
street".
Chill out about Crayton & worry about these
injuries to the D ... It ain't gonna matter
who's at WR if they can't stop the bad guys.

DeSoto has several guys making significant contributions in the NFL... many of them starters.
