OLB Greg Ellis is practicing in pads for the first time since injuring his Achilles tendon last year. That's a sign that all went well after his limited participation in yesterday's practice. CB Terence Newman is also practicing again. He wasn't working with the starters in the 30 minutes the media was allowed to watch. |

I think with the return of ellis and newman has strengthen the cowboys defense and pass rush. I think that the cowboys will be playing the patroits in the super bowl comes february 2008. with ellis, spenser and ware the sacks will come and the dominant defense will prevail, the fruits of parcell will come to the top.

I think it's great if Ellis thinks he can play, as he seems to sit when he thinks he's not ready, but Newman coming back scares me. I would really like to hear that he's 100% and he's not just rushing to get back on the field.

Ellis in pads and Newman in certain portions of practice does not = improved defense.
Ellis and Newman in the GAME == improved defense.
Newman won't be 100% this season. If that's what you want, wait til next year. Newman dragging his leg is better than the backups.

One of the important players coming back is Kevin Burnett because he is so fast... he will be important in the blitzing schemes because he can shoot the middle.. or come around the edge.. but can someone tell me what is the cowboys plans with BOBBY CARPENTER ????

This is the best news I've heard in a while. I guess that 2nd opinion helped Ellis get over his fear of playing with pain. But I still think we should rest them this week and get them closer to 100%. I believe Dallas can handle Miami without them.

To quote Damon Wayans (a.k.a. Jimmy Dix QB of LA Stallions/Last Boy Scout), why do you think they have an injury report?

I don't think we need to rush newman back this week. Wade will tweak the defense and if he does that then newman and ellis coming back will be cherrys on top! Save him to cover moss against new england in a few weeks.

This is good news for Greg Ellis and his psyche, but I still think either Greg or the organization is rushing this situation. Anthony Spencer stepped up and played well last week, and with Carpenter and Burnett available Ellis should take it slow and return at a full 100%.

Isn't it about time this 'wah' baby decided to get back to playing the game of football again? As a typical young fellow back in the day, I can still remember during the winter months hoping that the mud would freeze over outside so that we boys could get out and play some football on it. After getting myself knocked out one time by falling and hitting my head on some ice, my limp body just got picked up and discarded on the sideline. That is the way it was back then and it was all done out of the love of the game. Isn't that more important than money?
