Am I the only one who thinks this comparison from Calvin "Lucky" Watkins' story is a bit much? Defensive end Chris Canty compares Ellis' status to Michael Jordan when he was sick during Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. "When Mike had the flu, he went for [38]," Canty said. "That's G-Money [Ellis]. That's what he is to this team." Ellis and Jordan are both 6-6 and went to North Carolina. So they've got that in common. Ellis has had an above-average career but has never gone to a Pro Bowl. Jordan is the best athlete of his generation. Seems like a torn Achilles tendon is a bit more serious than the flu. And there might have been a little more on the line in the NBA Finals than there will be in Miami this weekend. |

Michael Jordan is the best athelete of his generation? That's pushing it waaaaay too far. If he was the greatest athelete of his generation then how come he couldn't play baseball? Bo Jackson was more atheletic than Jordan was. Bo could run over a 250 pound linebacker one week and then hit a homerun off of Roger Clemens the next and then break the bat over his head in celebration. I'd like to see MJ try any one of those.

Canty obviously wants to make sure he gets a nice Xmas present from Ellis

...but other than those things, it's the very same.

"G-Money"?
So far Ellis going for 38 minutes, heck, seconds, would be a plus.

I guess that we can officially discount what Canty said about Ratliff being able to handle the nose guard position.

Canty has a promising career in public relations ahead of him.
If he would just work a few sacks in first.

Anyone reading what Canty said, and comes away holding the idea that Canty is comparing Ellis' career with Jordan's career is at the very least idiotic and at most arrogantly dishonest. Honesty seems to suggest that Canty is comaparing an INSTANCE in Jordan's career to Ellis' CURREENT SITUATION and VALUE to this team. To get that twisted is shameful.

Maybe Ellis should get some advice from Jordan on how to push off better.
