Guess he's over the Seattle Slip

12:25 AM Mon, Sep 10, 2007 |
Tim MacMahon   E-mail   News tips

Pretty sure Tony Romo answered any questions about whether he had recovered mentally from his unfortunate moment in Seattle.

Oh, he'll have to talk about the Seattle Slip again if the Cowboys make the playoffs. But you can make that if a when if Romo keeps playing anywhere close to as well as he did tonight.

Romo completed 15 of 24 passes for 345 yards and four TDs with one pick for a ridiculous QB rating of 128.5. He also rushed for a TD. He saved a Dallas defense that had a tough debut in the Phillips 3-4.

"I don’t want to go crazy here," Jerry said, "but it shows that you can make up for a lot of sins if you’ve got you some good quarterbacking."

Four passing TDs. But you can bet the rest of the NFL will use the film of those four TDs against him in the future.

enough with The Slip, The Bobble, The Drop or whatever the heck anyone calls it. Romo doesn't hold anymore so it's pointless now. Unless he starts throwing K-balls there's no reason to mention it in regards to Romo and his psyche.

Roma done good, which means he, players, and staff, will have to work even harder this week.

I've never understood this "film" argument. Presumably the Giants had film from last year right? So why didn't they stop him?? If the receiver is open, and Romo has time, Romo is going to make the completion. You can't watch film and stop it.

Naturally the NBC archives crew, along with the blessings of Al Michaels- I think it would be safe to assume- showed Romo's infamous bobble and talked about it... yadda-yadda-yadda... I glanced over to my beloved bride, who's originally from Seoul, and has been a die-hard, rabid Cowboys fan for her 10th year now, and I said to her, "These guys are never going to let this Romo botched snap-hold thing go away..." She told me to shut-up and watch the game!

I was kidding. Making fun of the stupid "the league got film on Romo late last season and exploited his weaknesses" crowd. If everybody executes, film doesn't matter. That's why the early 90's Cowboys were so successful. It was a simple offense, everybody usually knew where the ball was going, but it didn't matter because it's extremely hard to defense a perfectly executed offensive play.

Tony has charisma and talent!! BTHOutta Philadelphia

is anyone else concerned about the bobbled shot-gun snap in the first half? I had visions of late last season when Romo wasn't able to hold onto the ball... it was probably the snapper's fault, but come on!

Posted by True Fan @ 9:58 AM Mon, Sep 10, 2007

it's the first game and it was against the Giants. Come on people. Enough said. He still has a lot to prove.

Everyone is over it except the media types which will continue to milk it for all it's worth long after we are all dead and gone. Shut up about it already. That goes for your too Tim!

OK, Jerry. Tony has shown that he is a "real" quarterback. Sign him NOW!!! You gave huge dollars to bogus quarterbacks (see: Carter, Quincy; Hutchinson, Chad; and Henson, Drew).

Posted by Lawrence @ 11:27 AM Mon, Sep 10, 2007

Tony had 5 TD's - 4 passing and 1 rushing!

The only reason MacMahon continues to mention Romo's fumble is so he can write the cutesy, but not clever, "seattle slip" one more time and then retire to thoroughly smell himself for being a true wordsmith. He does the same thing with the "brady quinn con job" nonsense and tries too hard to be the official nickname-giver of the NFL.

Good lord Billy,

you win the prize as the best glass half-empty comment of the day.

Its ALWAYS the snappers fault when the ball comes back before the QB has called for it.

If you want to be concerned, be concerned that many shotgun snaps were way too high, to add to the center's snapping problems, but that is an easy fix(I hope)

It sure is nice to watch Tony THROWMO instead of Drew VELCRO!

i truely hope that was sarcasm because Romo saved what could have been a turnover when he CAUGHT, not bobbled, the ball off his chest.

Drew Velcro....funny stuff.

ha ha, seattle slip. is that what that politician was doing when he was arrested in the men's room?
