Rams LT Alex Barron, who got his butt kicked by DeMarcus Ware all day, was asked what he thought about the Cowboys. "Cowboys are alright," Barron said. "I can’t speak for the whole team, I only saw a few people. But they’re cool, they got some good players. They won today, so hey." Pretty lukewarm praise, huh? I can see why Barron wasn't too effusive. I mean, the game really was much closer than the 35-7 score indicated. Let's see. ... The Cowboys only had a 502-187 advantage in total yardage. ... 28-12 in first downs. ... 62 percent to 25 percent in third-down conversions. Whoops, looks like I was wrong. This was an absolute whuppin'. |

Alex Barron sounds like a typical Cowboys Fan/Beat Writer

I heard that the rams were classless, but had no idea.

Well, what else would or could he say? No one likes to get their nose rubbed into the dirt.

Agreed. The man just got his @ss handed to him. Give 'em a break!

As good as the 'boys seem today, the Rams were that and maybe even better back what seems like about an hour ago. NFL stands for a lot of things, and in this day of free agency/salary cap parity, it mostly reminds that everything is Not For Long. Enjoy it.
As for Barron, he wasn't there an hour ago, he's been there five minutes. Time enough to learn how to put it away and move on, apparently. Good for him. Maybe next up he'll learn how to remember the snap count.

One of these days the Cowboys are going to start cold like they did today (and in the first three games) against a good team and they're going to get knocked down and a good team won't let them get back up. Play like this against the Eagles let alone the Patriots and I think they don't get away with it. The combined record of the four teams that the Cowboys beat is 2-13. Get a grip!
Posted by NTouch4u2 @ 5:53 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
What can we possibly excpect from an offensive lineman who was beat like a drum all day? Not Much!
The most important thing is "JERRY JONES" are you listening, please don't let your "FUTURE YOUNG" Head Coach Jason Garret get snatched by another team like you let HMMM UHHH, Sean Payton, Dave Wandstedt, Butch Davis, (Norv Turner) I think for him it would have been different for him if he would have stayed in Dallas instead of leaving to take a head coach position in Washington.
Jerry Please don't loose him!!!!
Posted by mark @ 5:59 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
(1) I love the Cowboys.
(2) Name one good team we have beaten.
(3) Don't eat the cheese fans.
Posted by S L @ 6:07 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Hey MikeB, don't worry. Most of us 'boys fans have been around the block a time or two and seen umpteen and oh seasons turn into complete and utter disasters somewhere along the way. Just the history with the Rams alone tells enough sad tales to make the point. This game is just the situation and opponent that you fear. And instead of the cringe plays we half expect, the interception results in zero points and the blown shotgun snap gets amazingly turned into a first down. Instead of squeaking out a white knuckle win they dominated in the end as they should. Our yahoos are, as always, heavier in the "whew" then in the "yeah".
It's been a while since the blue Kool Aid tasted this good, don't mind us if we enjoy it a few hours. Trust me, there's not a one of us who doesn't know the opposition's record so far and the teams that are coming, or that every game could go either way on the difference of just a very few plays.
That's why they play. That's why we watch.
Posted by Warden @ 6:09 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
One of the dumbest things you hear football fans say is, yeah, they're 4-0 but who have they beaten? Don't fall for it. All you can do is beat the team in front of you. Uh, Mark, weren't the Bears the defending NFC champs. Weren't the Giants a playoff team last year. The Dolphins had a great record in September. The Rams were supposed to put a gazillion points on the board, and just about every expert picked them to go to the playoffs this year. Now I will go eat some cheese. Boy, you guys just can't enjoy success.
Posted by Saint Jimmy @ 6:12 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Barron is just trying to act tough because he knows that the game showed that he wet his pants going up against Ware. I think he eclipsed Flozell's career number of false starts in this game alone. He was scurrred and it was obvious.
Posted by Mark @ 6:18 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Warden,
I enjoyed the game as much as you, but if you think the teams we beat were good teams then you need to watch some more football.
And, if you think what I said was dumb, then I think you are an idiot...
Posted by Warden @ 6:25 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Yeah, Mark, you're right. I should watch some more football. I've been a Cowboy fan since 1970, so I think know a good team when I see one. One last thing about the schedule. San Diego is gonna lose to KC today. Looked like an easy game. Pittsburgh is gonna lose to Arizona. Everybody loved the Jets against the 0-3 Bills, they lost. There are upsets every week. I'm not apologizing for the 4-0 start. When we beat the Patriots what will you say then? They took us lightly, were due for a loss, etc.? Are we just nipping these lousy teams at the wire or dominating them? I guess I'm just a glass half full kinda guy.
Posted by Jeff in PDX @ 6:31 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
If you want to play the "who have they played" game....them I'm down.
Packers?.....Who have they played (eagles, giants, chargers, minnesoa = 4-11)
Pats? (Jets, Bill, chargers =3-9)
I guess all the undefeated teams are a fraud
Posted by Mark @ 6:43 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
I've been watching football as long as you Warden. I'm 49 years old and have seen quite a bit in my time.
If we beat New England, then I'll say we are for real. But, check the current records:
NY: 1-2
Miami: 0-4
Chi: 1-3
STL: 0-4
It's obvious we have talent, but our receivers are not speedburners and our secondary hasn't seen a real quarterback yet. So, you can enjoy the kool-aid, but I'll wait to see if we are for real.
Posted by Jeff in PDX @ 6:49 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Yeah but at the same time Mark, they are not squeeking past these teams....they are crushing them........NE has done the same thing....whats your opinion on them?
Posted by tex @ 6:52 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
To Mark:
On the web it is hard (obviously) to tell who is being "real" and who is just trying to stir the drink.
Assuming however, that you really ARE a Cowboy fan, it is very unbecoming of you to accuse long time fans here that they are "drinking the Kool-Aid" and other rants.
This is a fan board for the Dallas Cowboys. Let the fans, these long-suffering Clint Stoerner, Quincy Carter, Dave Campo fans, celebrate a win for the love of God.
Everyone knows it is still early, even Cow-sheep.
Everyone knows it means nothing until the playoffs start. Everyone also knows that your behavior here is tiresome at best.
P.S. Mark, you better thank your lucky stars the fans here let you speak. On some NFL city boards, they would have kicked you off immediately. Check out the brutal fans in Pittsburgh, Philly, New England, etc.
Chill, and give your fellow fans some relief and credit.
Posted by Warden @ 6:52 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Our receivers are not speedburners? Haven't seen a real QB yet? You kill me! Thanks for admitting we have some talent. Manning is not a good QB? Ever think our defense has something to do with how bad the other teams are looking? We're missing our fastest WR if you've forgotten. A guy by the name of Terry Glenn. Again, you're just a negative person. That has nothing to do with me. Isn't it time for you to take a shot at Jerry Jones or something?
Posted by MikeB @ 7:07 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
My point is not really that the Cowboys have played four mediocre teams (even though they were), it's that they haven't played well enough, imo, to beat a good team. I think the cold starts are going to be a big problem against better teams.
Posted by Warden @ 7:23 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Tex: right on target! Can we long suffering fans enjoy a 4-0 start without having to apologize to the doubters and haters? Yeesh! Imagine watching a game with these downers? Who are you guys rooting for tonight -- Giants or Eagles? A tough one, but I'm going with the Eagles, because the Giants have a very easy schedule coming up, with games against the 49ers, Dolphins, Jets and Atlanta coming up the next 4 weeks. Let's bury one team at a time!
Posted by Mark @ 7:37 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
First, I was responding to Warden's insult.
Second, I cited Bill Parcell's favorite phrase "don't eat the cheese."
Third, The folks in Philly and the like are blue-collar losers and if that is the standard then I'm proud to be the way I am, which is an independent thinker.
As for New England, I think they have earned the benefit of the doubt. And to bring them up shows the lack of depth in your thinking.
You can question my credentials as a fan, but if this team implodes, I can assure you that this town will turn on them with venom. I for one, keep my hat on straight and my expectations on planet earth.
Posted by Willy Henderson @ 7:45 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
I agree wholeheartedly with Tex and Warden! We are 4-0 for Gods sake, this is great! We are CRUSHING OPPONENTS AGAIN! I Don't care what anybody says about our opponents, these are NFL teams who also want to win.Injuries?, we have injuries too. To the whiners; Quit your bitchen and enjoy the season! We are in a very exciting time for the franchise, I am jumping with joy about what is happening in Big D.
YEEEHAAA GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Marls @ 7:54 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
No one is saying they are the greatest team ever. We know they will lose their fair share (4 losses). Why do you think the team will implode Mark? That's a pretty random statement. I don't think anyone would consider this team a powder keg ready to explode. They seem to have good chemistry. I didn't think the team last year had as good chemistry especially because of the acrimony between Big Bill and T.O.
Posted by herson @ 7:55 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
funny how people say we haven't beaten anyone yet or we haven't played a good qb. Hmmm let's see, wasn't marc bulger in the probowl last yr? Hasn't Eli taken his team to the playoffs every yr since he's been the starter? I believe rex grossman played in the superbowl last yr. And wasn't trent green a really good qb the last few yrs?
Very true that none of these teams that we've beaten have a winning record. Same can be said about Green Bay, New England, Pittsburg, and to some extent Indianapolis.
Posted by mark @ 7:58 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Marls - you're reading comprehension skills need work. I said "IF THEY IMPLODE."
That kind of blows your entire post out of the water.
Herson - those quarterbacks suck. You have no case. Grossman was benched. What kind of person thinks Grossman is a good quarterback? Green had a horrible game throwing the ball all over the lot. How old is he? 38? He's not what he was. KC gave him away. Eli is under fire constantly in NY or don't you read anything but Cowboy kool-aid daily? An Bulger could hardly breath with all the pain he was in.
Why is it so hard for you people to see what's in front of your eyes?
Yeah, we have played great, but pardon me if I haven't reserved my Super Bowl tickets.

Mark is playing by his own rules of what makes a team "legit"
Posted by herson @ 8:37 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
yea mark is a clown...so i guess the other undefeated teams aren't good either since all the teams they've played have losing records too. So my question is name me one winning team that's beating teams with a winning record? And don't even say Indy...their division is weak and we proved it last yr.
Posted by mark @ 9:09 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Jeff,
So, you are impressed by Grossman, Green & Bulger (with two cracked ribs)? Tell me your rules...
Herson,
You're the clown. You can't even directly address what I said.

Folks,
After reading all the posts, it is quite evident that the onscreen character Mark is just a troll looking to get a rise out of y'all and trying to be the party pooper to the true blue faithful who, as I stated above, have weathered terrible drafts, terrible teams, the always unpredictable and clueless Jerry Jones, the overrated Big Bill, and other obstacles since 1995.
Each and every fan here knows that we have won anything yet. We are simply happy that we have a young, talented qb, a good offensive line and playmakers on offense. We know our defense still has question marks which cannot be answered until New England comes to town and also until December rolls around.
Again, Mark is a troll looking for a reaction, and my advice is to ignore his rants.
Posted by mark @ 9:19 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
The troll insult is the last gasp of the feeble-minded.
I've been a Cowboy fan since the Super Bowl against the Dolphins, so ya'll don't let me spill your wittle kool-aid on yourselves.
I'll go bye-bye so ya'll can have your fun...
Posted by herson @ 9:27 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
well i would ignore him but he still hasn't answered my question which was name me one nfl team thats destroying teams with a winning record?
I'll give him 3 guesses but if he's smart he'll only need one.
Oh and Mark since you ain't going to the superbowl i'll go instead for you. I'll have a sign saying "Romo hates trolls"
Posted by Warden @ 9:30 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Mark, what insult are you referring to? I never mentioned you by name, just said it's dumb to talk about the other teams' records after 3 or 4 games. Of course they're not gonna have a good record after we beat them in week 2, 3 or 4. Shows your paranoia though to think that was a personal insult. You may be a "follower" of the Cowboys, but you are not a true fan. We should all defer to you, Mark, because obviously you are the football genius here. We all need to learn more about football from you.
Posted by Tim @ 9:57 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
the pats are supose to be the best team. Yet they have played teams tha have the following records:
NY Jets 1-3
San Diego 1-3
Buffalo 1-3
Now they play Cincinnati which is 1-2. Please tell me how they can be called the gratest when they have not played a good team yet and we can't?
Also Indi squicked by two of their wins and have played teams that are mediocare by far. I hate this neg look at wins. One game at a time but lets celibrate the vitories without the negative buts. They are impresive. Right now the Giants are beating up the Eagles.
Posted by Eddy @ 11:01 PM Sun, Sep 30, 2007
Tim you beat me to the punch. I was just googling the same thing to find the records of those two teams opponents. How come nobody is talking about that???? Another thing people realize that the 4 teams that the Boys have beat have those records because we beat them. Also, we aren't just squeaking by any of these teams, we are crushing them!!! That is what good teams do to supposedly bad teams.
Posted by Jeff in PDX @ 12:08 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Mark, I havn't been impressed with those guys and never said I was.......not sure how you can give the Pats a pass on playing weak teams but not the boys.....
Posted by Cowboy @ 3:05 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Personally I don't care if the Cowboys were 0-4, I'd still be watching them, I'm a loyal fan. The Boys are my football team, alway have been, always will be. Just retired from the service, lost three buddies in the war that were also fans, so it pisses me off to hear the argument that the Boys haven't really played any good teams, blah, blah, blah. Like if I or my dead buddies really give a damn! All I know is that the Boys are 4-0 and getting stronger as the season progresses. As a fan, I will continue to hoot and holler, but mostly enjoy every win no matter what caliber of team the Boys play.
Go Cowboys & Semper Fi!!
Posted by thecentre @ 5:07 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
To all the naysayers, yes the teams we beat do not have a winning percentage that makes you go "WOW". However, the difference is in recent years past we would have lost to these same type of teams.
Posted by Vox Veritas @ 6:44 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Mark... the best thing any team can do against a crappy opponent is beat some or all of that crap out of them.
45-35
37-20
34-10
35-7
Nobody said anything about reserving Super Bowl tickets, but can you honestly say that there's a better NFC team? Who would you throw up there? It's pretty obvious that you don't think the Giants, Rams or Bears are the best.
Posted by Mark @ 8:25 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
The kool-aid is working pretty good. Tim thinks that losing to the Cowboys counts for 4 losses or three losses. Another guy must be an attorney because he say's he didn't insult me because he didn't mention my name. Sounds like Clinton. As for the New England "dodge" on my part, I believe I said they get the benefit of the doubt because of their history. The Cowboys are merely doing what they did during the Parcell's era: build up a good record early in the year. That's what they have done this year. If they don't collapse and they beat New England, then I'll be sold.
Just to further expound on yesterday's "GREAT" victory, Troy Aikman kept admonishing the Rams coach for leaving in a clearly hurting Bulger. Troy alluded to the open receivers that Bulger couldn't hit. Also, Troy and Buck were joking how the Rams offensive line were having to introduce themselves to each other because of all the substitutions each week. Finally, Troy ridiculed the cornerback covering Crayton so badly that I felt sorry for his mother.
Did you guys have the volume turned down? Must be you were listening to some tunes, hitting the bong and high-fiving. Sounds like a good time, but devoid of reality.
Finally, I'm still cracking up over the "Grossman was in the Super Bowl last year" comment as some sort of triumphant spike in the end zone signalling victory over my dour remarks.
I'm just not easy like you guys.
Yours sincerely,
The Troll
Posted by Vox Veritas @ 9:04 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Mark, why do you need Sham and Aikman to issue you your opinions? By the way... the Cowboys were never 4-0 in the first four games with Parcells. They were 2-2 the last three seasons running, 3-1 with a home loss to the eventual 5-11 Falcons in '03.
Posted by Mark @ 9:19 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
I don't need their opinions. I stated mine and was told that I "play by my own rules on what makes a team legit." So, I thought I'd bring in the experts. But, if that makes my opinions invalid, then please explain. In my view, it only reinforces what my own instincts tell me, but I know it's tough for you guys to accept dissent.
Posted by Vox Veritas @ 10:55 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
It doesn't make your opinions invalid, but it doesn't make them more than opinions, either. Do you really think those guys are "experts" in the sense that experts are the most informed people in their field? I don't have any problem accepting dissent, do you have a problem with backing up your own opinions with your own thoughts? Any NFL team can only play the teams that are on it's schedule. When a pretty good team plays a pretty bad team, the pretty good team should win convincingly, wouldn't you agree? And I'll ask you one more time, do you see a NFC team that's better than the Cowboys? Because if you don't, it might not be too late to reserve those Super Bowl tickets after all. Kidding, of course, but you get my meaning. If you DO think that there's a better NFC team out there, I'd like to know who you think it is and why you think that way.
Posted by Mark @ 11:17 AM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
I think Troy Aikman qualifies as an expert. Buck is an informed observer, but I'm willing to say that he's not as qualified as Troy, but I would say he's probably more qualified than anyone on this board, me included.
Now as for the NFC, I would like to see how we do against the Redskins, the Giants with their real defense (as you saw last night), the Packers and even Philadelphia, who we historically have problems with. The Redskins defense will be very tough with their two safeties.
That's ignoring Detroit (3-1) who killed us last year, Seattle (3-1) who beat us in the playoffs (albiet it was a game we should have won) and Tampa Bay, which seems to be on a comeback this year.
I'm sure we will make the playoffs and win the first round game. That would be better than Parcell's tenure and I would consider that an accomplishment for the team.
I hope I'm wrong about not buying the Super Bowl tickets. I'll be around all season, so you'll have your chance to say "I told you so" and I truly hope I have to eat all the crow. I'm just waiting to see how we do against a team with their full complement of players.
By the way, the Rams also were missing a running back who had the 5th highest total yards from scrimmage in NFL history.
Posted by Warden @ 12:38 PM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Let me get this straight: You're giving the Giants defense credit for beating up a team absolutely decimated by injury -- the Eagles missing Westbrook, LJ Smith, their starting Left Tackle, and subpar receivers -- but when it comes to the team you root for, the Cowboys, you give them no credit for a 4-o record. Hypocrite!
Posted by Mark @ 12:52 PM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
No, I said I want to see us play the Giants with their full defense, including the guy who destroyed Winston Justice and with Strayhan in mid-season form. Osi or whatever his name is was out early in the game against us, if you recall and Strayhan missed the entire training camp.
But, if you want to play the hypocrite game, then I guess you are conceding that the Giants suck, because they preyed on a decimated Eagles team, which just goes back to prove my point that we haven't played anyone (or anyone who had their top players on the field).
Posted by stormhawk @ 3:55 PM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
>>When we beat the Patriots what will you say then?
Well, this isn't going to happen, so we don't have to worry about it. ;)
The Cowboys are good - better than I'd given them credit for coming into this season - but they won't beat the Patriots. Originally, I'd predicted a 14 point victory for New England, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. I think this is actually going to be a high-scoring slugfest, but the Pats are the better team, and they'll come out on top. The important thing is that the Cowboys WILL make a good showing against the Patriots, and this'll make every other team in the league think twice about playing the Cowboys. Personally, I'm predicting a New England/Dallas superbowl (and, of course, I think New England will win there, too).
And, just for the record, I am a New England fan. I was born and raised in Connecticut, though I live in DFW now. But what kind of fan would I be if I changd up my team just because I moved? :)
Posted by Mark @ 4:18 PM Mon, Oct 01, 2007
Well, I'm willing to see all sides, but I actually do think the Cowboys can win the game, but they must start quickly, not allow any special teams touchdowns and get maximum pressure on Brady.
As Mike Tyson once said: Everybody has a plan until they get hit.
