That's the Ware we've been waiting for

The monster has been unleashed. The half ended with DeMarcus Ware's second sack of the night. He got this one despite being held by LT John Tait.

Wade Phillips tried to talk the refs into putting one second on the clock, which would have given Tony Romo a chance to let a Hail Mary go. Phillips gave up hope when they started setting up the stage for Gloria Estefan at midfield.

These refs are flippin' horrible.

Posted by Markipoo @ 8:51 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

More fine work by the officials there was 2 seconds left.

Posted by Ken In SA @ 8:51 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

There have been several astoundingly bad referee calls in this game. Heads need to roll tomorrow.

Posted by StB @ 8:51 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

These refs are making it even harder on the Cowboys tonight. Witten, Owens, Adams and now the clock. Can we get a break?

Posted by Billy @ 8:52 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Phillips is so weak...A better coach would have been all over that.

Posted by cory @ 8:52 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Can Gloria Estefan catch a pass?

Posted by Raul @ 8:52 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Can Wade challenge this? A new play hasn't been run yet.

Posted by Tokin Texan @ 8:52 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

MARK MY WORDS...THERE WILL BE A CALL FROM THE HEAD OF OFFICIATING APOLOGIZING FOR THE TERRIBLE CALLS IN THIS GAME!!!

Sorry about the caps but I'm drunk and ticked!!

You heard it from the Tokin first!!

Posted by mp @ 8:52 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Please tell me what's going on with the refs? I'm not trying to be a homer, but that back block against Witten, interference against TO, punter dropped twice and now this? You've got to know the defense is going to look to stop the clock if they make a stop.

Posted by Arman Kitch @ 8:53 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Halftime.
Time to check out "The War" on PBS.... Chris Collingsworth bugs me.

Posted by Phil @ 8:53 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

That was the worst officiated half of NFL football I have ever seen! That referee is incompetant! There were three seconds on the clock when Grossman was tackled!

Posted by Matt @ 8:53 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

That is the third call that has gone against us. When are the refs going to wake up ?

Posted by Cowboy-Al @ 8:54 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Ugly first half but could of been worse. Now that the Bear D mistique is over with, time for the Dalls Offense to shine. Time to Cowboy up guys. The refs might be playing the Bear Defense in their fantasy league, which explains the calls, but they can't stop the ROMO to T.O. connection for long. Go Boys !!!

Posted by JasonJ @ 8:54 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Boys are playing against a good D and some bad officiating. First, a block in the back against Witten. Second, a pass interference by T.O. And then a play that can be reviewed, doesn't even get the head officials acknowledgement.

Posted by Habib @ 8:54 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Lets call this game off,the refs have already decided who is going to win this game.

Posted by wausroamer @ 8:54 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Hola, vivimos in Mexico......

That's my interpretation after seeing the half-time graphic on NBC.

It was nice knowing you America...welcome to third world status.

Posted by Bryce @ 8:55 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Is the Chicago mob involved in this game? Two phantom penalties (block by Witten and interference by Owens) and the lost play at the end of the half. What are the refs thinking?

Posted by lee @ 8:55 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

there was at least 2 seconds left on the clock when that play ended. The clock stops at a change of possession. but I guess these referees forgot the basic rules of football. Thank god they're on top of that "horse-collar" rule, though. Jeezus Criminy...

Posted by Choco @ 8:55 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

They need to do some investigation into this officials or are the NBA and NFL doing a referee exchange program

Posted by Ol Sarge @ 8:56 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

I'm not a whiner, but the officiating was horribly biased against Dallas. Witten phantom illegal block negates a big gain on screen pass to Jones. Owens phantom offensive pass interference. Bears DB mugging Crayton, no call. Then the half ends with time on the clock and a penalty??? The officials called six penalties on the Cowboys before they called one on the Bears--including the first three mentioned here. Are these Pop Warner officials? Are they on the take in the notoriously corrupt city with broad shoulders? It can happen...look at the NBA.

Posted by Aaron Layman @ 8:56 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

That was ridiculous. Still, the Cowboys are killing themselves, they need to clean these penalties up.

Posted by Jason @ 8:56 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Here, here on the refs. I'm in Houston, so my TV doesn't come with a silver and blue hue. Definitely some heavy Soldier Field Slant from this crew. Lets see if JJ can grease some palms at halftime.

Posted by Hank @ 8:58 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

What is up with the refs.
4 blown calls all against the boys.
Conspiracy theory... Did they check the refs for any pay off!!

Posted by Warden @ 9:00 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Glad to see the NBA's Tim Donaghy found work so soon. What a fix job! All that said, we should be up at least 10-3 were it not for the Crayton drop. We get the ball first, have to march it down and score 6. Refs really choked today. Wade should blast them after the game, win or lose!

Posted by David @ 9:02 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

I thought the clock stops automatically after a sack?

Posted by mike @ 9:05 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Yes... a little fishy by the officials tonight... didn't they read about that NBA ref over the summer? The ref who wound the clock, then signaled dead ball should be fired or sent back to the world league. oh wait. no more world league. arena ball.

Posted by These refs suck @ 9:08 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

This is Freaking ridiculous. I haven't seen a game this ridiculous in a long time. I hope Jerry does something about this tomorrow. These referees are terrible.

Posted by Mike W. @ 9:10 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Apparently clock issues like that are not reviewable. However Al Michael's showed how after Ware sacked Grossman on 4th down that the ref gave the run clock signal before the stop clock signal. Just sheer incompetence.

Posted by Tokin Texan @ 9:28 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

Good to see you guys are editing.

Ya got 1 less fan of the site...

Posted by Scott Brooks @ 9:36 PM Sun, Sep 23, 2007

It's no accident that the refs are wearing black and white tonight...

Posted by Ron in Ft Greene, B'klyn @ 12:26 AM Mon, Sep 24, 2007

Reports following the game, inspite of her brilliant vocals performance, show that Estefan was taken to Cook County Emergency Ward with lacerations having been leg-whipped by DeMarcus Ware in an attempt to block for the Bears' Trainrex.
