If Forbes.com is right, Bigg Davis is one of the world's 25 top-earning athletes this year. The fact that Forbes lists the Arizona Cardinals as Davis' employer makes me question its accuracy, but there's no doubt that Bigg is one really rich dude. That's why I found it funny to hear him grumbling about the price of a plane ticket. He's headed to his home in Arizona this weekend, and he waited too long to buy the ticket. He was rather perturbed about forking over $1,400. Bigg has an eight-figure bank account, but he doesn't think that makes it OK to waste money. He told me about a recent trip to a gas station when he paid with a $50 bill before fueling up. His tank was full at $49.61, so he went back inside to collect his 39 cents. The clerk couldn't believe it. "If something in here costs 39 cents, can I just take it?" Bigg asked. "I didn't think so." |

Yeah. When I went to a 7 eleven in Houston, I got ripped off once for 55 cents. The clerk didn't even give me back the change, she just went to her phone. I'm not a millionaire, but 55 cents can buy something!

$1400 is rather ridiculous for a ticket to AZ. He should have priceline.com-ed it. Then again, it's not like the guy can fit in coach...

Good for you Bigg. Tips are paid for getting good service, not because some gas station is ripping you off. It's bad enough that they are ripping you off at the pumps as it is. I'm sure he doesn't need the 39 cents, but that isn't the point; is it?

I read during training camp that Bigg has ~11 siblings or so. That's a lot of birthday/christmas gifts to spend money on!

Is that for coach or first class? I can't see Bigg fitting in coach, and maybe not even first class. I've always wondered if the team charter jets have extra large seats, and if the team hotels and training camp sites have extra large beds. Some of these dudes truly are Bigg...

10-15 years from now we'll be reading the sad tale of a football player who is broken down and destitute. That player WON'T be Leonard Davis. Enjoy what football brings you, but don't be stupid about the money. Good for him.
