WR Patrick Crayton isn't sure that the Patriots are going to be in the Super Bowl in February. But if they are, Crayton seems fairly certain just who they'll face. "I told my coach yesterday, ‘If they make it to Arizona, we will see them again,’" said Crayton. "If they make it to Arizona, we will see them again. Seriously, I’m not backing down from that statement. Yesterday I told my coach that and I’m saying it now." Crayton wasn't finished. He said that there are plenty of players around the league that are sick of the idea that it's Colts and Patriots, and then everyone else in the NFL pecking order. "That’s the perception of the Colts and the Patriots," he said. "And you get tired of hearing that." Crayton also addressed the Patriots' final touchdown, coming on a fourth down with 19 seconds left. He joked about it, yes. But he said that he also won't forget. “You put that in the memory bank," Crayton said. "You remember. You have a chance to sit on it, kick a field goal, whatever, and you score a touchdown. You know, if I was playing Madden, I would’ve done the same damn thing. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not gonna sit on something." He was then apprised of the popcorn eating the Patriots did coming off the field, and Crayton took that the same way he did the final TD. "It’s stuff like that, little things," he said. "You put it in the memory bank and prepare for the next time you face them." |

Boycott Albert Breer.
Posted by Parcells Guy @ 2:26 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Yawn. If Crayton wants to talk trash, he should ask "The Player" for tips first.
BTW, where is Julius Jones's "breakout" season, now that he's free of Parcells?
Barber should be starting, especially after that run that saved a safety (most backs, including Julius, would have been hosed there).

PaulC- show some class. Albert is a pretty good writer. What is your problem with him?

This guy albert needs to go away, at least for a few weeks. Talk about rubbing our faces in this loss having to listen to this patriot lover clown. They should have sent him back to Boston on the Patriots team plane

Geez, guy catches a couple of TDs and now he won't shut up. Patrick, just make sure you're not going to be the latest Stepfret Williams, Anthony Miller, Ernie Mills or Billy Davis before you shoot your mouth off.
Posted by JR @ 2:38 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
As much as I like Crayton, you have to accomplish a little bit in this league before running the mouth off like that.
Posted by bambam @ 2:38 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Crayton should worry more about preventing those dropped passes.
Posted by Steve @ 2:41 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
The only way he can prevent passes from being dropped is by stepping in front of TO before they get to him.

Seriously, Albert Beer should be banned from this blog.
He is a very good "passive" homer to his hometown team that upon first look, you think he's being subjective. Look closer and you realize the true colors of this guy.
Seriously we would be better off getting a writer from the Washington Post, that's how bad this guy is.

Is this the year that the Cowboys bring their 6th Lombardi trophy to Dallas? That possibility is there!
It could be an all silver & blue Super Bowl.
Of course, both teams have to make it there, first!
Posted by Gary @ 2:50 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I like Crayton's brashness because I believe great things are in store for this team. A couple breaks here and there and we could have won this game.
Remember when Brett Favre was an up-and-comer with Green Bay and Aikman & Co would spank them everytime we played the Packers? Then...Favre and Co grew up, became the Super Bowl champs and started whooping teams like Aikman & Co? Romo and this team are going to take some lickins but by the end of the year New England will be very concerned about playing this team in the future.

You guys are so thin skinned.
Don't worry collective depression will hit Boston once the Sox lose and the patriots get exposed in cold weather game as a "finesse" team -- which is what they are.
Yesterday, I though I was watching Air Coryell. Not Pats football. It catches up eventually when you can't Run and can't stop the Run.
Pats: can't run and can't stop it.
Key is play good enuff Pass D to avoid 14-0.... like Pittsburgh and Indy might.

Jeez, I'm a little surprised at you guys jumping on Crayton. Maybe its still just the bitterness of the loss, but I like a guy showing a little pissed-offedness and confidence.
As for the super bowl run, a lot of things can change between now and then, so lets play the season, but one thing that has to change, and Parcells Guy, you are right, Barber has to be the starter, and its not just his yardage, its the juice he gives the entire offense by his play.
There are several reasons the boys have scored only 6-points in the first quarter of 6-games, but the #1 reason is the guy they are starting at tailback. He gives them zero in the first quarter.
Posted by Rolando @ 2:55 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Please, dear god, spare me from the semantics.
My only complaint about growing up in Texas (and, subsequently, being a Cowboys fan) is that I frequently have to come across the most backwater, ideologically challenged bigots on the planet.
Could you guys, for five freakin minutes, get over the fact that Breer is from another part of the country? Put away the spit buckets, 12 gauge shotguns, Confederate flags and "Dirty yankee!" talk. Save it for another blog.
Its a blog story -- one that I'm really glad was brought to my attention. I hope the team will rally behind Crayton and use this last game as fuel for a deep run into the playoffs.
Seriously, I can't envision the season to play out any other way -- Boys and Pats for all the goods. I can't think of a better matchup either for the Superbowl, or a better run up in the NFC with Romo having to beat out his boyhood idol in Favre in the Conference championship.
Anyway, yeah, the only person(s) that should be banned from this blog are those of us whose mental acuity is plagued by that extra copy of the 21st chromosome. =)

Ummm, Patrick, love you man, but you guys just had a beat down by the Pats. You have bigger problems than the last TD. You players need to talk about killing drives with stupid penalties and making fewer mistakes in the defensive secondary. Also, sprinkle some holy water on Anthony Henry and Terry Glenn's legs, we need them.

we will see them again? not with that defense you won't. we've played two good offenses this year and both have lit us up. our secondary is just not that good, save terrance newman. unless these guys overachieve and start playing better (not likely), guys like patrick crayton and TO are going to have to start backing up their big mouths with big performances in big games, not a big performance once in a while against a sorry opponent.

For all you chowder head, mullet sporting morons, who have nothing better to do than jump on our website and spew pro-patriot anti-cowboy garbage. Ever heard of Sore Winners? Too bad your head coach is a cheat, and has no integrity. His and the patriots legacy will forever be tainted. Your super bowls will always be questioned, and your franchise will always be viewed in a negative light, because you are proven cheaters. Good luck in next year's draft. Here's to some Cowboy jungle karma ending Brady's season next week with an injury.
Posted by Patrick @ 3:09 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I didn't see a beatdown yesterday. Maybe we weren't watching the same game.
Shooting yourself in the foot with penalties, coupled with some questionable officiating and coaching, is vastly different from getting steamrolled.
Dallas should have had a chance to win this game at the end. It should have come down to the last possession. The Cowboys were probably still going to lose, but the 21-point differential is misleading.
Posted by Patriot Nation @ 3:13 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Robert... you're killing me man! My stomach hurts from laughing so much.
-The Pats are not a 'cold weather team'??? HA!! Umm the whole team is filled with guys who have played in it their whole career!
-Can't stop the run? Are you crazy??? They are 2ND in the NFL in total defense and Marion/Jones COMBINED for less than 100yds... NO ONE has rushed for 100yds against them.
-Can't run? You ARE crazy! They are 7th in the league in rushing (Dallas 11th) and have been missing their #1 back for 3 weeks and lost their back-up halfway through yesterday's game.
But hey, dont let the facts get in the way of your 'hateration'.
What a joke, dude.
Posted by Patriot Nation @ 3:15 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Boston Blows... do you mean the draft next year in which we have the Niners first pick? That draft?
Oh and wanna switch rosters and coaches??? Ummm... yeah, thought so.
Posted by Aaron @ 3:19 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Gary, is everyone in Dallas as clueless as you are?
You think the Pats can't run and can't stop the run? Well here are some numbers for you:
The Patriots' defense gives up 78 yards per game, good for fifth overall in the NFL. Dallas is ranked 7th. Furthermore, the Patriots allow 15.3 points per game, which is good for sixth in the league. Dallas? They allow 24 points per game and come in 21st.
As for running the ball, the stats are even more impressive considering Laurence Maroney has been hurt the last few games. But even with backup Sammy Morris, New England running backs are good for 141.7 yards per game. Dallas is at 130 yards.
And as for being a "finesse" team and not liking the cold weather, are you kidding me?? They play in New England where it's almost always cold. They have guys like Bruschi, Vrabel, Brady, Harrison, etc who relish the snow and bad weather. Remember the Snow Bowl game in 2001, or how they killed the Colts in the snow in 2003?
So to recap, you were wrong about the Pats not being able to stop the run. You were wrong about the Pats not being able to run. And you're wrong about them not being a cold weather team. Try actually learning some facts before you post to avoid sounding like an idiotic Cowboys homer who doesn't know a thing about football.
Now GO PATS! 6-0 and counting, proving that teams like the Cowboys (and the NFC in general) are weak and pathetic.
Posted by jason @ 3:24 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I like the comment. This team is not down and they know what they want. DALLAS WILL SEE NE AGAIN. And that is with Henry,Tank,Glenn and a healthier Newman.
Posted by Patriot Nation @ 3:27 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Right on the money, Jason. That's what cowboy fans should be thinking... 'we got served at home this time, but we may get another chance to play them again and see what happens.'
BUT... unfortunately, the Pats will also have their best defensive player then, Richard Seymour. Oh, and they will have their top back in Maroney.
Posted by Thraex @ 3:28 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Cowboys 5-0 record coming in to the game was against teams with a collective record of 6 wins and 19 losses. Patriots shredded the Dallas secondary and exposed a critical weakness. By the way, how about that TD run on 3rd and goal with less than a minute in the game.
Posted by JV @ 3:32 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
The way to beat this team is to have your offense on the field as long as possible. Dallas' offense was barely on the field and when they were, stupid penalties stopped all of the momentum. For the small amount of time we had the ball, we were productive with yardage.
For a brief moment after the 3rd quarter I felt that we were still in the game. We were beating them but kept shooting ourselves in the foot.
We were down by 14 points but came back. I know Pats fans were squeezing their cheeks late in the 3rd quarter and they were doubting too. We had them. But, a stupid holding penalty on 4th and 1. Roughing the passer! Pass interference on Watkins?
The Patriots are beatable and I'm glad that Crayton is saying these things. I want this young team to learn from it and pay their dues like all great Cowboys team have had to do.
One thing is for sure. We need to get touchdowns (or at least first downs) in the FIRST quarter. We need to be able run the ball. We can't ask Romo to do everything.

Hope that niners pick works out great, it better since you won't have another in the first, and only one in the second. Cowboys have been on top before and we'll be there again. You guys' cheated your way into some championships, but we've still got the better franchise, and always will be America's favorite team. Nobody likes a cheater. But go Patriot Nation---yaaay! Patriot Nation, what a joke. Patriots always sucked, until Beli=CHEAT came along, and cheated his way into your heart. Why don't you go blow him you peter puffer. Aaron and Patriot Nation,
Congrats on the win. You have a wonderful team and a tough coach who seems smart, if not warm and personalble. However, your stats on running and stopping the run are somewhat misleading. The reason you guys only average 78 or whatever yards per game are because teams are playing catch up. Not to say you dont have a great defense, but I am not that impressed with the defense. Dallas coulda/shoulda/woulda put up points in the thirties. What was it, 14 rushes for almost a hundred? Yeah, really stingy run defense. One of my complaints with the Dallas offense was that they didnt run it enough. You guys are missing Richard Semour badly. Your linebackers are old. I really enjoyed watching Marion Barber stiff arm Rodney "Dirtiest Player in the League" Harrison and taking me for a ride. I promise you this, the NE "d" can not stop either Barber or Jones. Now, if we ever get a chance to show that, who knows. Again, congrats on the win. Now, if an undefeated record could only come with class, you guys would truly be champions. Until I see the Pats win with class and without the dirty play that has marked your Super Bowl trophies, I will always root against you.

You should of heard Crayton on the post game show. He basically guaranteed a win next week against the Vikes. He was talking about how eveyone in the lockeroom was upset about the lost and that he felt sorry for the "purple people eaters" because the cowboys were gonna tear them up. Definitely an HSO.
Posted by patsfaninpittsburgh @ 4:03 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Uhhh Scott
The reason the Cowboys fell behind- The Pats had 14 points before the Cowboys... had a first down!!
If Barber/Jones are so great why didn't they run it down the Pat's throat... in the first quarter?
The Cowboys scored 27. 7 points were off the fumble. 3 points from the long kick off. Are you saying that the Cowboys offense is so bad that they can only score 17 points off a very bad Pats defense?
BTW Pats Cheaters- How did you come up with "Pats only have 1 second round pick"? That's what you are suppose to have. The Pats have 2 3rd round picks. 4 first days picks is not bad. Look for them to trade down in April.
Posted by JR @ 4:05 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
PatNation, et. al.:
Nobody with a brain is disputing the quality of the Patriots team. But we really don't care either, so until you accomplish more outside of a 6 year window, go take it back to Boston. And if you aren't at all concerned about the few things that Belichick and Brady know need to be addressed, then you're a dope.
Posted by craig @ 4:05 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I like that Crayton has some guts actually. It's mediocre bulletin board material this early in the season I don't think it's gonna get anyone fired up but him.
If he wants to stick his neck out there and make going to the Superbowl a matter of personal pride, then go ahead.
And the Pats fans will be gone once they're done gloating, so I wouldn't worry about them.
Posted by Scott @ 4:19 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Uuh, patsfaninspittsburg,
If you could take the Sam Adams bottle (or Brady's manhood) out of your mouth and read what was written, you could stop wasting everyone's time with your post. Of course the Pats had a lead before Dallas had a first down. Who said otherwise? If I knew why Dallas didn't run the ball in the first quarter, I would be on the payroll. It wasn't cause they couldn't, they just didn't run the ball. The first few series were three and outs, compiled mostly of short, ineffective passes. During the second and third quarters, when the Pat's lead was less daunting, Dallas ran the ball well. Why they didn't keep it up, I dont know. I think Jason Garrett likes to throw the ball, perhaps. Maybe he saw some matchup he liked. Hell, I don't know. Like I said, I wish they would have run the ball more, because they were successful at it. That is why NE is only allowing 70 something yards rushing a game. NE gets out to a nice lead early due to Brady and the passing game. Is this sinking into your clam chowder head yet? True, Dallas scored 7 off the fumble of your boyfriend. But there were more chances to score than what showed on the scoreboard. I dont want to wish hardship on anyone, but I wouldn't mind seeing what NE would look like if they had some injuries to deal with and shuffle people around. Loose a 1000 yard receiver (Terry Glenn), a nose tackle (Ferguson), corners (Henry and Newman not 100%), and see what happens to your vaulted run defense.

Nothing wrong with Albert supporting his team is there? I've not seen him talk any smack, he just posting what he's supossed to. Would you stop rooting for the cowboys if you moved? I wouldn't.
Don't be down guys, it was a good game until the 4th quarter, and a few bad plays changed things. Give us back Henry Johnson annd glenn and we'll be even better.
Posted by Breer's a Beli-lover @ 4:55 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
Just watched the press conf. where Breer just couldn't contain himself. Way over the top with loaded questions for Phillips, that emphasized the pats greatness. He wouldn't shut up. Dominated the whole press conference with redundant questions about how patriots greatness caused cowboy penalties, and how our defense could learn from such a great offensive powerhouse. What a joke. What a homer, go back to Boston.
Posted by Josh Ellis @ 5:04 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
What's wrong with what Crayton said? He has confidence; I like confidence.
After Romo threw the 4th quarter interception yesterday, I sent a text message to my cousin, "We'll get them in February!". I'm glad at least one of the players shares my feelings.
Posted by kameleon_o @ 5:08 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I don't see how anyone can have a problem with what Crayton said. If you get beat, aren't you supposed to want to get back up an get another shot at them?? I like his fire and just like him, I won't forget.
As for Breer, I don't understand why everyone seems to hate him so much when Calvin Watkins is a lot worse. That guy jumps on the bandwagon of every team the Cowboys happen to play. What a pr***...
And once again little Ernie T. Bass focuses on what a WR does after he catches a TD, instead of the fact that the guy caught a TD to put his team ahead of the best football team in the league. Or the fact that his supposed favorite football team just lost a game. Yeah Ernie, you're a REAL Cowboys fan.
Posted by colorado kool aid @ 5:38 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
You don't want someone to "rub your face in it" -- and I don't think that Breer has been doing that at all -- you need to PLAY BETTER so your face isn't capable of being rubbed in it! The truth may hurt you, but it is the truth. The Cowboys got their ass kicked! . . . and I've been a fan since the Cotton Bowl days when I sat in the end zone as a kid!

Boys didn't run the ball that much because how many times was it 2 or 3rd and 15 because of the stupid penalties....Cowboys stopped themselves not the Patriots..the first Cowboys score should have been a TD not a FG Crayton fell down wide open for a first down..on the last field goal Witten fell down wide open and Romo had to take the sack..I think the Dolphins defense = the Patriots defense

Guys, and girl (Breer), give it a freaking rest! Crayton is beyond mad, and you know what, that's the proper frame of mind. Not only will he not forget it the entire season, but no one on the team will either. If they are who I think they are, they will take the angry and disappointment to the very max through the entire season. I feel sorry for every team that comes up against the Boyz because they won't be seeing Washington, Philly, or NY..they will see New England and Brady's ugly mug!! I'm already motivated myself because I have to see this freaking N.E POS still here!!!

Posted by Charles - ATL @ 6:39 PM Mon, Oct 15, 2007
I'm not mad at the competitive fire that Patrick has. The problem is that going public with it these days don't mean squat. Internalize it, talk to your team mates, tell the coaches, tell the owner, but keep it in house and just go about trying to do all of the little things that make you better personally and the team overall.
Talk is cheap. Remember, we are trying to get where NE is. Do we ever here Brady, Bellicheat, or anyone else on team NE saying publically what they are going to do to the opposition? They concentrate on their game and how they will impose their will on a team ON THE FIELD: Limiting mistakes and penalties, understanding when it's time to take it a notch higher, and executing so efficiently it's maddening. THEN after winning they smugly enjoy and exude the confidence they had all along.
Folks, we don't have Jimmy Johnson's teams talent, coaching, and motivation around anymore to go Crayton's route of 'talking the talk...when you can't walk the walk.'
But I still believe we can become an elite team with the proper focus from the GM, coach, and players.

Hey Scott - have you seen the NFL injury reports each week - EVERY TEAM HAS INJURIES TO A FEW OF ITS KEY PLAYERS - Yesterday's final would have been 55 - 17 if Seymour and Maroney were playing. Garrett decided to run when the Patriots put 3 safeties in the game and pulled a d-lineman. He passed when the Pats played their base defense. You'd never be on their payroll because you don't pay attention to what is taking place in front of you. You're probably too busy cursing the refs or cheering a Patriots injury.
Your long-winded post was senseless.

Patsy Natiummmh and Erin:
What other bloggers meant re your run/run defense is that you can't run on good teams and you can't stop the run vs good teams. Your smash-mouth offense averaged 2.6 yards per run against us. Morris, who was playing as good as Maroney in prior games, averaged a smooth-and-long 15 INCHES per carry before WE KNOCKED HIM OUT.
And your stout D corralled Barber and Jones for a paltry 6.7 yards per carry. It was evident what a physical team you have when Barber just hid like an ostrich as you had him cornered for a safety.
As far as switching rosters and coaches, the problem would be that then we'd have to answer questions of whether our FIVE SuperBowls had a black mark on them.
We'd like to switch owners, though. That way when Kraft does Goodell-maintenance, it's the Cowboys that reap the rewards.

Lot's of smack talk flying around here, love Mr Rogers remark of a challenge in person, another internet tough guy. I'm guessing he tells everyone he's an ex Navy SEAL. Well let's see, where to begin? Maybe if Crayton worried more about the game in front of him rather than the SB he would have had a better shot at winning on Sunday. I don't hear anyone on the Pats talking about the SB. Here's to hoping he keeps dreaming of AZ, it's the one sure way he won't get there. As for the "Belicheat" haters, go on hating. Ask any Pats fan if they give a rats behind about how the rest of the league perceives him. We'll keep cheering for him and laughing at the haters. We just could care less about the sour grapes from cameragate. For those of you stupid enough to think that the Pats ran up the score, what the heck were they supposed to do? We put in our 4th string back with a two tightend set and you still couldn't stop it. The only other things we could have done were to either kick a FG (i.e. an obvious play to run up the score) or just GIVE you the ball (which would be disrespectful to the Cowboys, but I would have LMAO if that happened). The Pats did the most humane thing possible, we tried a run up the gut on 4th down. The defense should have stuffed it as it was obvious to anybody watching that's what they were gonna do. That's the only play they ran and would have run it again if they had another down. BTW, don't forget the only reason they COULD run the 4th down play was because your HC decided to call a TO thinking he could still win. If he hadn't, time would have run out before the last snap. Lastly, regarding all the posts about the Pats run defense, remember this. As Cowlishaw rightly points out - "As the late David Halberstam wrote in The Education of a Coach, stopping the run was what Giants football was all about. Now [Belichick] was saying he wanted to change that for the Super Bowl. "You guys have to believe me," he kept saying. "If (Thurmon) Thomas runs for a hundred yards, we win this game." Thomas ran for 135 yards. The Giants won the game.
What now Cowboy fans?

Cowboys fans are a bunch of babies. Look at all the excuses flying on this blog. Now you're taking your frustration out on Albert Breer, a sports writer??? Some of you guys are pathetic. Not all of you, but a lot. You talked before the game and guaranteed victory, called the Pats overrated, now grow a pair and take your whoopin like men.
