Crayton sounds off

Albert Breer   E-mail   News tips

Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton took a tour of ESPN's Bristol, Conn. campus today, appearing both on television and the radio. Here's a clip from First Take, where Crayton lets his feelings be known on the Patriots-Colts game this weekend. And here's what Crayton had to say:

Jeremy Schaap: Who do you think wins the game?

Patrick Crayton: I couldn’t tell you right now. I’m not pick either one of them, because neither one of them is my team. I couldn’t care less. They’re both in the AFC. Beat each other up, for all I care. I couldn’t care less who wins that game.

Schaap: Considering the way the Patriots played against the Cowboys in that game, it would seem at some level natural to not want to play them again. Or is that incorrect?

Crayton: Why not? They say in order to be the best, you want to beat the best. And technically, they are considered the best, by certain analysts. Not by other teams, but by certain analysts, they are considered the best. And you know what? I would love for Indy to go ahead and beat the Patriots.

Someone duct tape this kids mouth before he makes himself look even more ridiculous. I've never seen a slot receiver make so much noise.

Posted by TSmith @ 10:02 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

I don't like them either. And I think later in the year we will compete and beat them. They might melt in Arizona.

Posted by SaintTroy8 @ 10:05 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

i used to respect crayton because he worked his was up from being a 7th round pick, converted quarterback out of a small school; seemed to do everything asked of him. if he still does, then i have one request: SHUT UP! seriously i didn't know 400 yards made you a world beater. concentrate on sweeping the next 3 games.

Posted by David (Too many Davids) @ 10:06 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Let him talk. I hate the Patriots.

I see Indy beating them this weekend and I think we take them in the Superbowl if we cut down on the mental mistakes.

Posted by Maverick @ 10:24 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

He's only speaking the truth. Look, we need swaggers on the team, and that comes at all levels from the calm and sedate of Romo through TO and Crayton. Personally, I'd like to see some swaggers here with some cajones to get rid of the Breer the.... and Timmy boy. They give journalists a bad, bad name.

Kind of stupid considering he has had one great game in his entire career, pretty much disappeared in the Pats game and tried to hand the Vikes the game last week. That said, unintentionally or intentionally, it is genious to garner this much attention for simply running your mouth off the field. The Patriots, and the nfl (including the Cowboys), could care less what Crayton has to say but the media is eating this crap up.

Posted by Bob W @ 10:24 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Yeah, let him talk! Besides, the Patriots can't get any madder than they already are at the rest of the league. The Patriots are creating lots of bad blood!

If Brady does not get hurt running up the score, we will be ready for some payback in Phoenix!

Crayton knows he has to back it up. This is no different than JJ making the 49ers furious when he guaranteed a win in the playoffs. And, we beat the crap out of them. Bring on the Patriots!

OMG why are people so shocked when a WR talks brashly? It's like encoded in their DNA people!!! lol And personally I find it reassuring that my Cowboys want another shot at the Pats!!!

Posted by TSmith @ 10:42 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Man are we playing the eagles this week or what? Lets talk about that. I thought we hate them. Alberta, I will not allow anymore distraction from the real news. The East is among us. Lets go to Philly and beat the ugly people. McNabb will look like he is wearing concrete shoes trying to run from Doomsday07. Is Tank playing? Will someone write us a story? Go Cowboys!

It must be a good team if anyone, and this is ESPN, gives more than two squirts about what a 3rd string reciever has to say. I like it.

Posted by muddy waters @ 10:49 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

i'm a huge crayton fan. he's generally been underrated the past couple of years just because he hasn't put up traditional stats, but he's converted a lot of first downs for this team.

that said, this bit's not his shining moment. first he says he doesn't care about the Colts-Pats game, then he says he'd love to see the Colts win. so i guess he does care.

oh well. he's still my second favorite WR on the team - after the coolest of the cool Mr. Terry Glenn, of course.

Posted by Stevo @ 11:14 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Whatever man. ESPN is obviously baiting him to give some kind of ridiculous answer. Why is his answer bad? He couldn't care less. Nothing they do is gonna affect the outcome of the Dallas season. Like he said, they are in the AFC. Gimme a break, makes it seem y'all forget the moufs we used to have on this team, cuz controversy inspiring this is not

Posted by Pokes @ 11:15 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Watched the nfl live show. He did get beeped once. To me thats borderline. We'll see he's having a great year so far. Time to shut up and put up.

Posted by Tommy @ 11:15 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

What a moron. Does he realize that people are only getting him on TV because they know he will have diarrea of the mouth and make a fool of himself?

I don't think the Cowboys want any more of the Patriots. How can you talk so much smack about a team that put up 49 points on you and your offense managed all of 21. And they Haven't even had their Running Back at full-strenght yet.

Let's have these bad boys win a playoff game for the first time in over a decade before we start huffing and puffing about taking down that synasty up there.

Posted by stevo @ 11:15 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Rod it is genious to spell genius that way

Posted by Stevo @ 11:19 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Tommy, Cowboys were in the game into the 4th. I wouldn't call it a butt kicking. And the boys put up 27 smart guy. I'm countin the turnover for points if you call going for a cutesy touchdown with the game won as legit points.

Posted by Cowboy Elmo @ 11:29 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

There was a time not long ago when I would have loved to hear a Cowboy talk so bold. When the Boys have been good, I hate to say it, but it has been their M-O. It is obvious that this kid loves the Cowboys and although he may not be a top tier Receiver, let him talk. Just make sure you back it up come January.

Posted by rp @ 11:45 PM Tue, Oct 30, 2007

Tommy, the Cowboys stopped themselves against the Pats...how many plays did they have called back when they had a big play including the 4th and 1 ?? 4 or 5...so what if Maroney plays..the Cowboys were missing Henry, Glenn, and Tank....I want to see the Pats again

Posted by DougO @ 12:04 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

I don't see anything wrong with what Crayton said, as much as the anchors want to bait him. Even up the penalties and two dropped passes and the Cowboys and Patriots may still be playing. Dallas made too many mistakes, but player for player aren't awed by the Patriots, and shouldn't be, despite the constant media barrage.

Posted by Mark @ 12:06 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

Shut up Shut up Patrick.

Posted by Victor @ 12:57 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

He goes over the middle on Sundays after shooting off his mouth.
What have you squirming suzies done except go into a collective shell.

Cowards. Gutless. Chumps.

Posted by Donovan @ 6:29 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

Meanwhile, T.O. gets in and out of practice unnoticed by the media, able to focus on his game.

Job well done, Crayton!

Posted by Jerry @ 7:41 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

I think its ok to let him talk in fact I want more of them talking, I can't stand the political correctness around the team right now. Oh they are a great team, we need to be on the top of our game...blah blah blah....how about some statements like we are gonna line it up on Sundays and dare you to stop us....we are gonna pound your QB into submission.....don't come over the middle unless you have a good insurance policy.....How about a little fire from this team, on and off the field.

Posted by Scott @ 9:14 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

Crayton should be quiet. The bottom line is that for him to keep shooting off his mouth after Dallas lost to New England just makes him look silly.

Posted by U R Not in NE Anymore @ 10:39 AM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

Albert, we don't care about the Patriots. Obviously you do. Amazing how anything remotely related to your favorite team gets posted by you. Stop being a fanboy and cover the COWBOYS. Dolt!

Posted by UCTheStar @ 1:36 PM Wed, Oct 31, 2007

Hey, Patrick is a #2 receiver that's basically looking at going back to the #3 receiver when Glenn comes back...PLUS he's going to be a free agent in 2008...he's just trying to build some name recognition. It's got nothing to do with the Cowboys...it's all about getting a job next year...can't fault him for that.
