The Cowboys have the week off, but their field might not get the same rest. According to an AP story penned by Bernie Wilson in San Diego (we can't find a link quite yet), Texas Stadium is one of four venues being considered as a contingency site for this week's Chargers-Texans game. Qualcomm Stadium, home to the Chargers, is being used as an evacuation center as wildfires tear through Southern California, and more than 10,000 evacuees were there this morning with smoke overhead by afternoon. The Chargers are practicing in Phoenix this week, but the Cardinals' University of Phoenix Stadium is booked this weekend. That's left the league to consider Texas Stadium, along with the Texans' Reliant Stadium in Houston, Tempe, Ariz.'s Sun Devil Stadium (the old home of the Cardinals on Arizona State's campus) and Los Angeles as possible sites for the Houston-San Diego game, according to the AP report. UPDATE (8:03 p.m.): Here's the link. The Texas Stadium bit is in the 11th paragraph. |

wouldn't seem fair to have them play a "home" game in the Texans' home state. I recall the Saints being forced to play a "home" game against the Giants in Giants Stadium, and it really was just another home game for the Giants. Seems like they should find a way to play the game in LA at either the Rose Bowl or Coliseum.

"wouldn't seem fair to have them play a "home" game in the Texans' home state"
Seems fair to me. Cowboys fans would love to cheer for our good friend Mr. Turner, TCU's LT and Co to squash the lame named team from the b-hole of Texas. Go Chargers!

nando:
I could not agree with you more. That is the dumbest name for a team. Moreover, it is not even original. The Dallas Texans used it and I believe a basketball team in San Antonio used it once. It is one of the many reasons I root agaist that team.

Nando, funny that the Dallas/Fort Worth area was just voted as one of the ugliest places in the States right up there with Philly. People from b-holes shouldn't talk feces.

Arizona would be best to keep the 'home game' feel. Some of the Charger fans already with tickets can drive over there.

Saint Jimmy-
I saw that article on Yahoo.com but I didnt read it. In fact I never read those silly little JV journalism Yahoo articles. I always thought those were written for chicks and guys with broken wrists.

"Not that theres anything wrong with that"
In all seriousness, They should find a facility in Arizona or California. The Saint home game in NY a couple years ago was a joke and a slap in the face. They should have had that game in Philly because I promise you that they would have been the ultimate Saints fan for a night.

Chargers and Texans at Texas Stadium!?! Now how cool would that be? Ain't gonna happen, but what a thought! Damn shame what's going on over there on the left coast, and it's too bad the effect that tragedy is having on the Chargers and their fans... not to mention all of the folks in Southern Cali.
To Saint Jimmy... I appreciate your post, and I get it!

Damn shame what's going on in South Cali. As much as I don't care for the left coast, I sure as hell would never wish the tragedy those poor folks are currently experiencing. Chargers and Texans at Texas Stadium?!? Now how cool is that? Ain't gonna happen, but I love the idea...
To Saint Jimmy... I appreciate your post in this thread, and I get it! Me ke'aloha pumehana...

Why not give the evacuees tickets (it's only 10,000 for goodness' sake), and let them play at home and give some moral support to these poor folks. Heck, have 'em all on the field at the beginning for a salute. They'd probably be happy to pitch in for the clean up before and after, and they'd get to watch a game and feel like the home team and the home crowd is with them, not leaving them behind for some Arizona or Texas or the Rose Bowl.

Hello, I am a cowboys fan, but I live in SD and I would think that playing anywhere in California, would be bad, the air quailty is bad and the Colusium is an open air venue. I do believe ASU staduim would be the best venue, cause like one person stated, Chargers fans could drive up the I8, if it is open, and go see the game.

Bring LT Back to the MetroPlex.
Maybe he'll want to stay!
