Family atmosphere

MICHAEL AINSWORTH / DMN

Patrick Crayton was asked in the locker room about the atmosphere around the team right now, and he didn't waste time with his response:

"Family, man," said the DeSoto product. "We play for each other. Every Sunday we’re out there, everyone has each other’s back. I think that’s what’s made us 4-0 right now. We don’t just see each other here in the locker room and on the field. Everybody hangs out with each other, outside of work. It’s more of a family atmosphere."

It's something that's been building over the course of the season, these guys say, and all admit that winning's certainly a part of it.

But there are smaller things, too. One that sticks out is the coaches' decision to move lockers around, so that positional groups were broken up.

"I think it’s built more this year," said corner Jacques Reeves. "We’ve been sitting in sections, all the DBs were there, linebackers were there, d-line there, o-line there. And now we’re kinda mixed up, so we communicate with different positions a little bit more. Like, me and JJ will sit over here and clown a little bit. It’s a better atmosphere."

Crayton makes a great point that alot of successful teams have expressed. There is no substitute for a family-like atmosphere when it comes to team sports. I'm very happy to hear this.

Boy look at Albert just killin us today...

I love hearing that. Sucessful teams like the Patriots usually have this type of attitude. I also think that the injuries this year have helped us because it has forced guys to step up and also makes them believe that they can overcome any injury or adversity. Again, something that the Patriots definitely have.

I cannot wait for that game, I think we have a real good shot at winning.

I agree that the Pat's have that attitude as well. When they won the Superbowl for the first time, they chose to be announced as a team instead of individually.

The Cowboys have a chance to begin a dynasty this year as long as they respond as a family to all adversity.

Man is this blog getting campy or what? Just kidding yall. We can beat the Patriots. We just have to play our game. Is everyone noticing the Boys are physically manhandling the other teams? It kind of reminds me of the early 90's when I used to see the other teams injuries pile up almost every game. I used to get irritated by all of the delays the other teams would cause! Watching the Patriots reminded me of the Buffalo Bills back then...seriously...K-gun Kelly...Tom Brady in the shotgun all the time...anyone???

I suspect winning is more responsible for creating the better atmosphere than anything else. Winning cures a lot of evils. It probably helps that Mr. Pessimism has moved back to Saratoga though.

4-0 has gone to everyone's little pea brain.

You guys are insufferable navel gazers.
