That's what Roy Williams said as he ran into the locker room, pointing to a bunch of reporters. Williams and Ken Hamlin double-teamed a certain New York native a few minutes later, hollering told-ya-so's and such. Of course, not every reporter picked the Cowboys to lose, but nobody congratulated Todd Archer or me for getting it right. Much, much more to come after I crank out some stuff for our wood-pulp product. |

T-Mac, pls send this to Calvin Watkins -- IN YOUR FACE, new yorker!
his crow should be served cold and on a red plate, symbolic of his lifeless g-girls.
eat up C-Wat - you blew it! fess up, the Cowboys are the BEST team in the NFC and likely 2nd best in the NFL!
YGLTCB!

Hey I dont really have a comment on that Tim but I do wanna get the "headlines" segment kicked off by saying......"Eww-lie and the Giants get sweeped by the boys" what do you think!?

Retribution is sweet...

When Roy learns to cover, then he can be included in the we and talk trash... until then... shut up and play - and it looked like he was close to another horsecollar today.

Cowboys 31 the other team 20!

this guy has to win something

Woot! Congrats for having faith. Dallas ia for real.

Good call Timbo.
Posted by Saint Jimmy @ 7:37 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Tim, I sure hope you've got a spare pair of pants for Calvin to go along with that box of kleenex. Cause I bet he let his bladder go when he saw Roy and Hamlin coming after him.
And stop blaming Roy people. Shockey is fully capable of dominating any safety in the NFL. And that pass to set up their halftime field goal wasn't his fault...and I know that's the play ya'll are thinking of. Kevin Burnett had about the worst underneath coverage I have seen in the past 10 years. It was like KB was running to triple-cover the underneath route instead of dropping back deeper in the zone to make the passing window smaller.
Tim, good to see you were smart enough to follow my lead on the prediction. Didn't I say that Dallas hasn't scored less than 24 points in any game and that the likelihood of the Giants scoring 24 wasn't very good.
Posted by james muckleroy @ 7:39 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
must have missed the ten tackles he put on the stat sheet, as well as the pops he delivered to the giants players...so whatever, as usual..his team is 8-1, going on 9-1, etc..

Tim,
I congratulated you, {of course only after demanding you get your excuses ready for picking the Giants...}.
But hey, better late than never.
That's what happens when their are so many writers retained.
That fella' ALBERT B., him I recognize, because he goes into great detail with the game tape.
But the rest fade into anonymity.
Except that Calvin fella', who consistently picks against the Boys.

If I ever want to lose money..I will go with Calvin's picks

What I would really like to know is what goes into a sports writer's thinking when making a prediction.
I realize you guys get a closer look at the team, and even get to talk to them, and attend press conferences, but does that really give you guys an advantage?
Calvin, and yes, around 5 more of you picked the Giants. Why?
Seriously, why did you pick the Giants? I knew we could beat them. I won't say it, and I am sure most of the other fans will say it, but it is very possible we could go 15-1. If we don't, so what. But don't pick us to lose because the other team is more deserving, or we should lose to them because we just have to lose a few games this year.
Personally, I will pick them to win out, even though I feel they can lose to Detroit.
Just because you guys have the job you do, really doesn't make you better equipped to make these predictions than the common fan.
We can see alot just by how they play on the field. They might very well lose 2-3 more games this year, but I will still pick them to win out. I am not obsessed, just see a really good team out there.
Posted by Roland @ 7:45 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Yes he had some hits - but they came after they got the first down. I'd love to see old school Roy hit them and stop them short.

"Tim, good to see you were smart enough to follow my lead on the prediction."
Yeah Tim, good thing you were smart enough to follow Saint Jimmy's lead. Jimmy you crack me up.
Posted by randy @ 7:48 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Roy did an ok job in the second half of this game. I would still take Roy over most safeties in this league.
DMN staff should be ashamed of themselves for taking the Giants.
Now maybe they will give Dallas their credit
Posted by jay @ 7:49 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
no thanks to ROY!

St. Jimmy,
Wheres that Jack "A", that was on here all day Friday wearing me out? I believe that his name was Toast Patterson to be exact... Just like the week before, their home team blog boring and just trying to get in on the action.
James Muckleroy,
Yes, they kept Roy on Shockey for a reason... I'm not douting that you've ever played ball, but, in this game the strategy was obviously; give them what you want to give them. Thats a sign of a good team. They knew Shockey would have an effect, but he wouldn't win the game. Tonight, Dallas let them have Shockey. He really only hurt us once, but that tanting play was rediculous, giving him another opportunity. See y'all next week at Texas Stadium. By the way I predicted 31 to 17... I was off by 3. See y'all next week at the skins game. P
Prediction: Dallas 34; Wash. 17

Roland, shut the H*** up! You and all the other Roy haters are football idiots!
Posted by Rodney in Nashville @ 8:04 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
And for all you football minions who want to get rid of Julius Jones, he led the team in rushing for the second game in a row and looked good doing it.
5xSuper, you're quite generous. The Foreskins will be lucky if they score a touchdown against the Cowboys.
Forget the Colts. The Cowboys are now the right behind the Pats heading up the NFL.
Posted by Ozzie @ 8:11 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Thanks for your comment Brandon! And yes I nailed with my prediction Cowboys 31 the other team 20. I'm happy with another Cowboys win but yeah what do I get for beeing right with my prediction?
Posted by Dustyn Hamilton @ 8:20 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
All ye of little faith!!!
Cowlishaw, Sherrington, Taylor, Goose (who I discredit based on his style of picking because he always picks the home team no matter how bad they are), Breer, and Watkins should be ashamed of themselves. Good call McMahon, Archer, and Trahan (Friday) You guys call yourselves Cowboy fans.
ESPN picked the Cowboys 7 out of 9.
Who have the Giants beaten. 5-4 Washington, 4-5 Philly, 3-6 Atlanta, 2-7 New York Jets, 2-7 San Francisco, and barely beating 0-9 Miami. Eat Crow and GO Cowboys.
Posted by 5xSuper @ 8:22 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Rodney,
My prediction was based on Cowboy taunting penalties...
Posted by tex @ 8:35 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Hey, great win for the Boys. They dominated the Giants in the second half and actually did not play a great game at all.
If they had cut down on the penalties, they would have won by more.
By the way, Roy Willy, why are YOU bragging?
The Boys win week in and week out DESPITE you, not because of you. Shockey abused you left and right. Your bravado is soooo misplaced, it's not even funny.
Posted by Dave T @ 8:58 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Congrats go to Archer and Tim for picking the Cowboys. Seems a majority of the fans can pick better than the media types.
If you are going to cover this team, I think it be best to show some belief in the team!
Go Cowboys!!
Posted by Maverick @ 9:02 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
I wonder who Roy was talking about.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....maybe the entire, freaking DMN blog team!!!!! Tell Watkins some of us know people at Belo who can make some "changes" if you know what I mean. If I were him, I'd put in the resignation why it can still be done. BTW, tell him it can be done by email.
Posted by Maverick @ 9:03 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
BTW, Tim, you and Frumpboy don't deserve crap. You haven't done anything but be total useless excuses for human beings. Please leave the premises quietly, and take PAT boy with you.
Posted by Brandon B @ 9:22 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Wow, Maverick, you are so cool. Are you going to take my birthday away also?
Just because the guys work for DMN doesn't mean they have to pick the Cowboys. I'm sure many if not all of them have grown up fans of other teams. So, stop threatening them with their jobs (if you really could do something about that, I seriously doubt you would have to resort to posting here).
In the end, I think it is great that DMN allows its writers to make fools of themselves. I'm sure Goose picked the Giants because the Cowboys have probably never won a game in NYC when all of the digits of the month and day are the same.

JJT, Cal Watkins, K Sherrington, Rock Gosselin, Tim Cawlishaw, & Al Breer........... 6 reporters who dont have a clue...... are you going to return your paychecks for this week since you obviously didnt earn them........
how sad for you, that you cant even see the obvious.......... The cowboys are the class of the NFC, and you dont impress anyone with your worldly wealth of all things football.
You 6 really should be ashamed to even write your nonsense opinion of this years Cowboy team... Shame on you all
Posted by dfwpjc @ 9:34 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
I thought the cowboys would lose. I was very impressed. you expect to lose at least 1/2 of your road games and this was one we sure should have lost I think one more division road game to go. wow.
Posted by Maverick @ 10:15 PM Sun, Nov 11, 2007
Take away your birthday?? Are you nuts, Brandon? I'd like to think you're competent at celebrating your birthday, unlike those who cannot seem to report quality news with the facts. I'm with Roms1.....return your paychecks!!!

T-Mac,
Congrats. Hey- do you have the juice to get rid of unlucky watkins? keep up the good work...
Posted by Brian @ 12:03 AM Mon, Nov 12, 2007
Good call Tim. Dallas is just the better team. I hope you're betting against Calvin this season. It would be almost like getting two year end bonuses instead of one...
Posted by GoIllini @ 2:04 AM Mon, Nov 12, 2007
STOP HATING ON ROY. What in the world do you expect from him? He lead the team in tackles today, he got good pressure on Manning a couple of times, and did have a good pop or two. Nobody holds coverage perfect all the time, especially safeties (or they'd be corners). Williams has his role and plays it very well...he is also a leader out there. He has made Kenny Hamlin better already.
Who would you get rid of him for? You think we can replace him that easily? You better think again. Player's like Williams and Bob Sanders etc are few and far between. Also, you realize Mr. "horrible in coverage" has led the team in INT's more than once in his career? HE IS A PLAYMAKER, not a cover corner. He's invaluable but if you guys don't shut up sooner or later you'll run him out of town and we'll be all the worse for wear. Watkins will be good and will be a good free/cover safety and perfect to compliment Williams. While Hamlin has a couple picks, he hasn't been the greatest in coverage either, giving up two TD's in that Pats game.
Also, keep in mind that with poorer corners and less of a defensive front, Roy had the opportunity to make a lot more plays. Now, plays are often dead before he gets there because of Ware, Bradie James, etc. The corners are playing better as well. Philips is doing a good job of keeping Williams involved by moving him around. He's the same player, the team is very different. Anyone care to remember the massive missed tackle problem this team had no more than a couple of years ago? Williams used to play clean-up crew all day, but now that he's shown the team how to hit, he is simply part of the puzzle. Watch highlights of the game and watch the way Reeves tackles and tell me where he got it.
Great win today, great game by Williams, and way to shove it in the face of so many fools. Yeah, you don't have to pick Dallas to win every game, but you could at least pick them to win the ones they definitely will.

Why is everyone complaining about Roy Boy's coverage of Shockey? Did Shockey ever take one of those 10-yd plays beyond initial contact? Not one catch and run, so I give Roy all the credit in the world. He didn't defense a pass (although Ayodele helped him do that once), but he at least contained Shockey. The one thing the Giants couldn't do was make big plays and everyone has to give Roy some credit for that (although that Ken Hamlin looks to be a pretty good signing now).
