Bigg Davis knew it all along

So Leonard Davis' secret is out: He was no game-time decision. In fact, he knew on Friday he'd play today.

"I know y’all wanted to know that," he quipped to the media, "but it is what it is."

But what it was Sunday wasn't what it was Wednesday, when the injury was sustained in practice. After getting his ankle rolled, Davis was sent to the hospital and fitted for a walking boot. Playing Sunday was an afterthought.

Then, on Thursday, something happened. All of a sudden, he felt better. The Cowboys held him out of practice. But they brought him back Friday, and he knew then he played in the game.

"Every ankle injury that I’ve had, I always missed at least one game," Davis said. "I got up Thursday, walking as good as I was, I was like, ‘This thing is not as bad as we all thought.’"

And it wasn't. The only playing-time hit that Davis took came on special teams -- he was yanked from the field-goal unit.

The injury disclosure rule is pathetically enforced. The NFL needs to do some self analysis and determine some changes to prevent this to clear up the betting threat.

This brings up a thing I'm curious about. Does the NFL have player insurance to cover medical costs or do they pay cash for the treatments (wouldn't insurance coverage drive up costs for every person paying insurance fees?)? What about the college ranks? This being a mainstream media outlet, this is something that you might be interested in reporting on. I've never heard anything one way or the other.

Logically, the players will not need to pay any thing for the medical cost and medical treatment while he is playing for a team. The team must provide that service for free. The team has its own doctors.

Rooty,

To complete Teddy's answer ,so to speak,it doesn't make your insurance rates go up, just the price of your tickets for the game.

Hope that Davis recovers fully soon. His assigned pass rusher beat him for the Redskins' lone sack and allowed the Skins to threaten in their last best drive.
