Rick Gosselin focuses on Minnesota Vikings super rookie Adrian Peterson in this week's From the 50. Goose notes that Peterson already has two 200-yard games. Need perspective? Emmitt Smith had one in his career; Marcus Allen had zero. From the 50 is available via e-mail every Tuesday during the NFL season. Go here to sign up (it's free). |

So Goose has apparently switched loyalties to the Giants now that his crush on the Eagles didn't quite work out as planned? Can we just call it what it is now - Goose is the anti-homer, someone who has lost all objectivity and reason in rooting *against* the home team.
Seriously - how can he point out the Giant's injuries before/during week 1 while completely neglecting the fact that the Cowboys were missing their top corner, 2nd best pass rusher, and lost their NT on the first series. Oh yeah, and still managed to win. And are we seriously to believe that Wade's W-L record against the Jets in the Meadowlands 10+ years ago while coaching different teams has any relevance on this week's game?
Way to phone it in Gosselin. Can't wait until you jump on the Redskins bandwagon next week.

You said exactly what I was going to say Brian. This guy is a hack extraordinaire. It's one thing to be an anti-homer, but the fact that he continually makes really stupid arguments week in, week out, is what is unbelievable. Next week we'll have to read about how the Redskins are desperate, or how the Cowboys are 4-25 over the last 13 seasons when the temperature is between 50 and 60 degrees. I almost take a perverse pleasure in seeing what new idiocy he can come up with each week.

Goose has no credibility.....Didn't he say that Baltimore was the most complete team in the preseason? Why does he continually pick against Dallas and lose?

Can you imagine how finely turned the Cowboys would be, if a runner like Peterson (perhaps McFadden), was paired with Romo? Awesome!!!

On the button Brian,
And as you state mark, Goose has no credibility.
The guy really thinks, however, that he has a keen insight that no one else has. That keen insight ranks him last in his game predictions among all 8 DMN sports writers. Check it out.
It is a real shame that this guy has so many biases(Is that a word?), that it clouds what used to be really good judgement, I mean this guy was good at one time. He just needs to hang it up.

Brian and Brad, I have to agree with ya'll. And let's not forget that we were also without our #2 WR. Goose is starting to show what a hack of a sports reporter he is. I heard him on the GAC radio show saying that he goes on what he's seen in the past. That may have worked in the 80's and 90's when you knew which teams would be good and which wouldn't. But it's a new NFL and you have to do more homework and more projections. So he needs to take his eyes out of the rearview mirror and start looking down the road when picking teams.

Goose is a moron like most people from Detroit.
I promise you that Jerry will turn those 2 number one picks into DMAC. Jerry will be all business come draft day 2008. Eyes on the Razorback Prize!

L.J.
I used to think the boys had to have a McFadden or a Peterson, etc., and God knows it would be nice, but with what we have seen out of Barber this year I have changed my mind about the draft choice sacrifices it would take to get Darren or someone like him.
If the boys can come up with another guy as talented as Marion, to match up with Marion, such a two-headed monster would be all they would need for years to come. Use those two first round picks for a corner and a receiver. Find another Marion in the 2nd round.

Just look at his face.

What Goose was trying to say:
"The Giants were without the services of Brandon Jacobs, Usi Humanurine, and had a banged up Eli Manning because the Cowboys put a whoopin on them. It took them two weeks to recover from said whooping, so look for the Giants to drop two straight. After that, they'll be the hottest team in the NFC of teams that haven't recently played the Cowboys. I hate the Cowboys."

Brian, don't forget we were also without our other star WR Terry Glenn who most mediots said was a better overall receiver than T.O.

Adrian is beyond awesome so far. If he stays healthy for 10 years he will rewrite every rushing and scoring record. The Cowboys will also sign the ownership papers for the NFC East this weekend.
