With Deon Anderson out for the season with a torn rotator cuff, the Cowboys have only one fullback on the roster in Oliver Hoyte. There is some question about whether the team will make another move regarding its roster. Dallas has to cut somebody to sign another fullback, or just go with Hoyte, who isn't 100 percent. The team could workout a few players today as well to give themselves some options. |

Wow, that's some powerfull insight from the Giants fan who will get embarassed if he picks NY to win. The team could workout some players today? We all know they can workout whoever they like that is available. We'd like to know if they are actually planning to.
Speaking of the Giants let's just check out how they've done this season:
@ Dallas - Got absolutely destroyed.
Green Bay - Was an even bigger beatdown by the 2nd best team in the NFC.
@ Washington - The Redskins snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with their horrible clock management and play selection inside the Giants 5 with about a minute to play.
Philly - The Eagles were missing about 7 starters from this game and McNabb was the leading passer in the game with a pathetic 138 yards and the "great" (note the sarcasm) Buckhalter managed to drop 103 yards rushing on that "vaunted" (more saracasm) defense.
NY Jets - The Jets are flat out horrible. Chad Pennington out performed Eli with 229 yards.
@ Atlanta - The Falcons are nearly as bad as the Jets.
San Francisco - The 49ers are doing their best to claim the title of "worst team in the NFC" from the Rams. And somehow Trent Dilfer was the leading passer in the game with a sorry 209 yards.
Nuetral Site @ Miami - The Dolphins were far worse off than when Dallas faced them. And Cleo freakin Lemon far out performed Eli by nearly throwing for 3 times as many yards.
So it's easy to see that Eli's 2nd half collapse has started early this season. He's been outperformed in 4 of the last 5 games. And he's not only been outperformed but most of these QB's shouldn't be starting: McNabb - A lot of people would rather see the Kolb kid. Pennington - Just got benched. Dilfer - Should be riding the bench if Alex Smith wasn't injured. Lemon - Wouldn't be starting if Trent Green didn't almost get decapitated. So the only way the Giants have a chance at winning is if Brandon Jacobs goes off which isn't going to happen against this defense that held Adrian "All Day for about 300 yards" Peterson to 60-some yards.

I largely agree with your assessment of the G-men however the intangible that gives me some concern is that the Boy's are playing them in the Meadowlands and b/c it's a conference game usually, with recent exception of the Eagles, the other guys show up ready to play.

They also said the Iggles would show up with their A-Game cuz the game was in Philly!!! That Didn't happen!

Saint Jimmy, great post. If the O-line plays anywhere near the same level they did in Philly they will neutralize the Giants rush and the Cowboys should roll big.

Great job St Jimmy. Also consider the Giants pass rush
Osi has 8 sacks, which looks good, but 6 were in one game against a totally unprepared rookie OT (Winston Justice, Eagles) he has TWO sacks in the other 6 games.
Strahan has a pedestrian 4 sacks
Tuck has 7 which is good, but again, a lot came against Philly and he is not the starter anymore.

Saint Jimmy,
Great Post, but there is one other way the Giants can win, and the thing I worry about the most on a road game in particular,
Turnovers, Mistakes, Penalties,...ie....the boys shooting their own selves in the foot.
I think the boys are far superior to the giants, but the best team doesn't always win if they kill themselves and I swear, the more games I watch this year in the NFL, its almost about what the loser does wrong as much as what the winner does right. Lets hope its not another Buffalo Bill Game.

I wouldn't call a 45-35 win "destroyed" the Giants. They're a tough team, and always seem to do well against us. It'll be a good game.

Good post Saint Jimmy. However, you only included passing yards when comparing QBs. I wonder how much of those extra yards were garbage yards at the end of the game.
I do think the Cowboys are the superior team here. As Raff pointed out, mistakes can kill us.
What I find amazing is that Romo has thrown for over 300 yards in 5 out of 8 games. At that pace, he will hold the Cowboys record of 300+ games by the end of the year!

Too bad the Pats have Kyle Eckel. He's a good FB, catches well, and has a nose for the goaline.

I will be surprised if the boys bring in anyone at this state of the season. Besides, who you gonna cut?
More than likely they will just use more h-back formations or plug in someone at fullback just to block until Hoyte is ready to go.
Obviously that "someone" will not run or catch, but surely on a roster of 53 there is someone who can just run block and pass block for a game or two.

Maybe Carpenter can play FB.

Saint Jimmy should be the beat writer for the boys, Mr. Watkins should take notes. Now that is the inside scoop. I am a Brooklyn native and a Cowboys FAN FOR LIFE!!!!!

dr. horton,
great stat about romo & his 300 yd games. I have another: romo has 8 300 yd games in 18 starts. Eli has 6 in 49 starts.

Aside from going to each teams official website is there a site that will list practice squad player for all NFL teams?

I can only imagine the hell that Eli will see as we throw the pass rush to him! I mean unmerciful force that makes him wet his pants at every snap!!! can we say HAMMERTIME!!
Posted by Saint Jimmy @ 4:50 PM Tue, Nov 06, 2007
dr. horton, I realized that. I also realize that I didn't include TD/INT which also shows how well QB's played. But you missed the point I was trying to make by pointing out the opposing QB's passing more than Eli. The point is: Eli hasn't been a factor so the Giants are winning in spite of the most important position not playing up to par.
If a QB can't pass more for than 150 yards (happened twice to Eli during that stretch) then he's a joke of a QB...at least during that game. We should know that all too well with a couple years of Carter and Hutchinson having trouble passing for 200 yards in a game. And the fact that the Giants have won those games where Eli doesn't pass for 225 just baffles me.
Something I learned today...the Giants are something like 4-14 coming out of a bye week. I was worried that the bye week was going to play a factor but it seems like the G-men have historically come out sluggish. And I'm sure a lot of the Giants players wanted to keep their winning streak going. So it may have stopped their momentum.

Tikkanen, I do call a 45-35 game getting destroyed. Only because if you watched the game Dallas should have scored 52 and could have scored 60some if they really wanted. The score of that game wasn't a true indication of how close it was. And when you consider that Dallas was missing more key pieces than the Giants were it could have easily been a 52-27 game.
Posted by Tikkanen @ 6:04 PM Tue, Nov 06, 2007
"if they really wanted"? I did watch the game, and it was 38-35 late. We didn't have TNew for the game, but NY wasn't on a roll like they are now, and we were at home.
I think we'll win, but it'll be another tough game.

What happened to Lou Polite? Is he employed?

Lousaka Polite was my first thought too. However, he is currently on the Bears active roster.

If the Cowboys play as they are capable of & play well they will win. The Giants are a good team on defense but the offense is average. Cowboys must limit penalties and no turnovers.
