T.O. on Jets rookie CB: 'Who?'

11:04 AM Wed, Nov 21, 2007 |
Tim MacMahon   E-mail   News tips

T.O. did the conference call with the media that covers the Jets this week. He didn't bite on questions about Bill Parcells, and his only quote worth even trying to sensationalize came when he was asked about CB Darrelle Revis, the Jets' first-round pick.

"Who? I don't know who that it is," Owens said. "Once I step on the field it doesn't matter who's out there. I don't pay attention to numbers or names. I go out there and I focus on what I'm supposed to do. That's not a slight on him, or whoever he is. I just go out there and play football."

You could question T.O.'s study habits, but that seems rather silly considering the ridiculous stats he's putting up week after week.

But this might be a bad omen. The last time T.O. was quoted about not being familiar with the opponent was before the Bills game. That happened to be his worst performance of the season (two catches for 25 yards).

This is exactly the type of info I needed to decide that the Cowboys won't cover the spread. Official pick: Cowboys 28, Jets 17.

I think we will start slow, and then kick it the second half. 38-10, is my pick. Something tells me they will score on special teams, but something also tells me that T.O. will have another great game - He wants to beat Moss this year.

Tim,
With all the movement of T.O. at the line of scrimmage, have many teams tried to keep one corner in consistant man to man coverage? If so, did it work?

Call me crazy but I think Hurd will have a great day. He will be starting due to Craytons injury and he wants to show he's capable of being a big play receiver not to mention the Jets will probably tripple cover Owens after the numbers he's put up the last 2 weeks. Cowboys 31- Jets 13. Look for Julius Jones to have a big game as well.

28 pts.? That's a bit smallish, isn't it?

The only way this team comes away with less than 30 is when we commit blunders or turnovers.

Even against the Bills, we put up 25. And the blunders in the first half against the Redskins took points off the board, and we still scored 28.

Add at least, AT LEAST 2 field goals, which makes it 34. And where is the Jets passing game to get to 17. They've no passing attack.

So they get 13.

Final score, roughly 34 to 13.

Barring injury that kid will be special. Wish we had him instead of Reeves/Jones/Henry at CB.

But TO on Revis 1-on-1 is still a bit early for Mr Revis.

I hope we blow the Jets away...but come on guys, how many times do we actually expect to and actually go out and do it? Did any of you watch how the Jets played the Steelers? Granted, we have more fire power, but nobody plays more physically than the those guys and the Jets traded punches. Did you also see the pressure and sacks on the mobile and savvy Ben?

Not forecasting doom and gloom, but maybe:

Dallas 31-20

With their special teams maybe scoring a TD and putting them in another couple of good situations for another TD and a couple of FGs

The Jets run defense is better--it used to be awful, and now it is atrocious. That will open up plenty of passing lanes for everyone. Don't forget about Witten. The Jets TO obsession, and inability to contain the running game, combined with Dallas' pass rush, means a huge day for Big D. Boys 41, Toy Planes 17.

Cowboys 35 the other team 10! Go Cowboys!! I will say hello to you fellas from the suite!!

If Revis doesn't know who TO is, then he will after this game. He might not recognize TO's face, but he will definitely remember the "OWENS" stitched on the back of TO's jersey...

No way the Jets score 17 unless we turn it over. I'll give them 3 to avoid the shutout.

Man T.O really seems to be a new man these days. He looks like a guy who has real friends in the locker room. Hurd he and Witten was gonna have a big game Tamale.
