Disaster strikes Dallas!!!

6:23 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007 |
Tim MacMahon   E-mail   News tips

A last-place team will walk out of Texas Stadium with a win tonight.

Eagles 10, Cowboys 6.

I'm not sure if Tony Romo's relationship with Jessica Simpson is strong enough to make it through this stinker.

Headed down for what should be a festive locker room. Feel free to rant, rave, suggest headlines and assign blame in the meantime.

I'm going to blame Avery Johnson who was sitting with Jerry Jones....he's already screwed up one Dallas team, so why don't another one?

Posted by Kirby Weather @ 6:27 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Settle down. They are 12-2.

Posted by PaulC @ 6:27 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

This team FAILED. It had a LOT to prove in December and it failed. They've shot their mouths off for two weeks and produced garbage results on the field against two lousy teams. Bad coaching. Bad players. And the worst clutch quarterbacking I've seen since Ryan Leaf passed through town. Romo was a god in Sept-Nov. Now that it matters, he sucks.

Posted by Mike in Co. @ 6:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Fortunately, we in Co. got stuck with an incredibly boring San Diego game so I didn't have to watch this vulger mess!!!!!!! Two road games to finish the season and we now NEED both. What the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Kevin @ 6:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Can't blame the D this time. A turnover would have been nice though. When was the last time we intercepted a pass? Oh ya, Brett Favre.....

Posted by Joe @ 6:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

As great as he is, Romo lost this one all by himself. No, it wasn't the thumb or T.O., it was Romo.

Now, let's get over it and go on. He's still great.

Posted by Brian @ 6:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

All we have to do is win the next game and we should have a great shot at home field. I still think we accomplish it just might take a little bit more.

Posted by whyamihere @ 6:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Can't you guys had enough rant about the stupid captcha code??? when will you remove or make it better??

Posted by JD @ 6:29 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Romo was off his game tonight. That I can take; but Garrett allowing him to throw 36 times and abandoning the run for the 2nd half is unforgivable. Especially considering they were only down 4 points. It's not like they had to pass the ball! This is the 1st poorly called game of the season. Barber and Jones have got to be spitting mad about not getting the ball in the 2nd half!

Posted by Texas_d @ 6:29 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Didn't Romo learn from last year, someone get this guy a copy of Bull Durham, you never **** on a winning streak.....lose the broad Tony, or you will have your head so far up her butt it won't be funny.

Posted by David @ 6:29 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Romo is a moron for screwing up the team by staying up late partying all week with Jessica Simpson. Romo, you don't need to "go to LA" during the week. Your only value to the Dallas Cowboys is your performance on the field, it's not about you or your personal life. Stop producing and your fall will be faster than your rise. Pull your head out of your rear, drop Simpson and focus on FOOTBALL! Learn your lesson!

Posted by tony @ 6:30 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Jessica Simpson is like the chick that screwed up up Redford in The Natural

Did anyone notice that the Eagles' pass rush became much more effective after Gurode went out? While they did not always blow up Procter (did a few times) it makes me wonder about his ability to make the correct block scheme coverage calls.

Romo Forgets The Rule: Super Bowls Before Hos

And yes, I know, there was probably more to it than that. But she's such an easy target.

Posted by Brian @ 6:32 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

i knew the wheels on this bus would come flying off sooner or later.. would rather they do it know than in the playoffs.. we already have the division.. and first round bye.. this is NOT that big of a loss ...

Just hope Romo doesnt pull a TO and try and overdose

NO-MOMENTUM!

romo has been awesome, so its tough to kill him but he was brutal. i'm still trying to figure out what philly did to confuse him. but even when he had open guys, he missed them.

they were due for a stinker & this is it. i'll assume it's a fluke & not panic.

Posted by Josh50123 @ 6:32 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

This is all on Wade and Garrett. They played for three quarters as if they were down by 40 points instead of 4. Pass after pass after ill-advised pass ruined whatever rhythym this offense desperately needed. Where the H was the run? Correct me if I'm wrong, but did they all forget they have a game-breaking running back in Marion Barber?

If Romo's thumb was hurt, why wasn't that taken into account.

This is all on coaching. This was the worst coached game they've played in four seasons. Disgraceful.

Posted by Super Dave @ 6:32 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

This team has a LOT of work to do, but there is still time to get things fixed. Curious to see what happened to Romo's hand - reminded me of Aikman whenever it rained...!

Posted by Snowy @ 6:32 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

My hockey coach always told me, "If you can't play at 110% (or at least 100%) don't play at all." Clearly, Romo is not at 100%. He needs to be mature enough to take himself out of the game, especially after he hurt his thumb. You can't throw a football with no thumb, you just can't. Now I know you'd all say "Well, he had a bad game at Buffalo, and they still won".. well, what if they would've put Johnson in before Romo's fifth or sixth pick @ Buffalo. It probably wouldn't have had to come down to a field goal with no time.

It may be a different story if they had a freshman backup quarterback, but Brad Johnson is a vet. they need to know when to play him if Romo's hurt to avoid further injury. Especially this close to the playoffs.

So the December flop in Dallas starts a little later this year..ho hum. Romo was straight garbage today, even before the thumb. Another game where he turns into a psycho and zeros in on one receiver. Leave your hussy at home dude. We would have had a better chance with Brad Johnson in there today. Romo needs to just leave the stadium and not say a word. How embarassing. Good job by the D...we should have lost by like 3 touches. Say goodbye to any wishes for a Super Bowl trip.

Posted by Big Mike @ 6:33 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I blame Jessica Simpson. Romo needs to ditch her (at least until the off-season). P.S. the captch code thing sucks big time

Posted by Aaron Layman @ 6:33 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I really wouldn't call it a disaster, it wasn't like this was the playoffs, but still, you have to worry about Romo's thumb. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back. Obviously everyone has to be miffed about how inept the Cowboys were on offense. Hopefully this is just a bad day, and not another late season collapse by the Cowboys.

Posted by Justin @ 6:33 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

They have been playing poorly for a while and getting lucky enough to win. Maybe this will bring them back down to earth and get them playing like they were earlier in the season. Good time for a wake up call. Poor coaching on the offense today.

Posted by Cesar @ 6:34 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Headline suggestions: "Big Stinker in Big D" or "Stumble on the Home Stretch"

I'm concerned about two things after today's game.
1) Injuries - status of players including Tony Romo.
2) Game plan - 15 rushing plays v. 36 pass attemps - those are Eagle proportions.

Back to the basics, 'Boys!

Posted by herson @ 6:35 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

settle down? how can we? Championship teams win these games. If we up this stinker at home, just imagine how we going to play on the road the next weeks? Oh to make matter worse we have a week off only to lose that game at HOME!!

We need to re-establish the running game. NE did today why can't we. We have to deal with all these injuries we suffered today. Plus how do we give up 4 sacks on one drive. Shame that this team isn't ready.

Posted by Cowboyfan_9 @ 6:35 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I wish I could say that I did not have a funny feeling all week in my gut about this game. It just seemed that we were not as focused as we should have been(granted I have not been around the team, but the general attitude was just off). I hope that this is a wake up call for the team and not a killing blow. I am really worried about the loss of Gurrode. Not sure we can win in the playoffs without him. You saw the pressure up the middle the rest of the game once he went down. Also Romo's thumb was obviously affecting him, I don't think he had an on target ball all game. Defense looked good today, but unfortunately Romo could not hit the broad side of a barn. I am not looking forward to the incessant dump Jessica talk that is about to flood this area. Got to buckle down the rest of the season, or GB at home will be our fate (assuming we make it there). This loss is not the end of the world though, we needed to have an off night to wake us up a bit.

Tony, leave your girlfriend at home next time. It was clear your head was not in the game. I don't know what you say. Worst game I've seen for such a good team. Lose your personal life until after the superbowl. Its clear you can't do both.

Wow...was Romo up all night courting Ms. Simpson? I hope I read that he hurt his thumb on the first offensive play of the game...otherwise....he stunk it up! The defense played a decent game....other than Roy Williams getting burnt more than toast at a bad restaurant....Very disappointing game....now two road games to finish....hopefully home field thoughout the playoffs won't elude the Cowboys...I think teams better rethink hiring Jason Garrett any time soon...terrible offensive game plan...wow...they stunk.

If Romo has a fractured thumb, the Cowboys season is over. No way can they win the SB without him. On the other side of the ball, Westbrook made an outstanding heads-up play by going down at the 1 yard line.

The sky is falling. The sky is falling. Oh, wait a minute, the Cowboys are 12-2 and still control their destiny.

It is so sad how people knee jerk over one game. I take my qb being good 12 out of 14 games. If they either either one of the last two games, their is cause for concern. Otherwise, people, they had a bad day. Look how Indy ended up the season and they won the Super Bowl.

So should we nominate Jim Johnson as a prime head coaching candidate since he just outsmarted, outschemed and outcoached the kid genius, Jason Garrett? The NFL is littered with solid offensive/defensive coordinators who have failed as head coaches. And Garrett, mind you, was a quarterback coach for one year before being hired by Dallas. Perhaps this clunker will give pause to everyone promoting Garrett to the next coaching vacancy.

Posted by Robert Evans @ 6:42 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Don't blame Jessica, don't blame T.O. Two things were bad. 1st, the offensive play calling. 2nd, Tony's timing was off, and it was off all game. He also made some bad decisions. I have noticed (before this game) that when he throws to T.O. he doesn't time the pass correctly. Usually throws behind him. Maybe he and T.O. should have more (a lot more) practice sessions. Even though the defense made a few mistakes, they were few and overall did a pretty good job, as they held Philly to 10 pts. Very disappointing. I think everyone should quit worrying about SB, but at least we are in the playoffs. Maybe SB next year.

and if they play in green bay the third week in january, so be it. fitting anyway on the 40th anniversary of the ice bowl.

When was the last time Romo was this bad for a whole game...Oh yeah..when Carrie Underwood was smooching it up on the sideline with him...MAybe Romo can't separate his mind from women and game time...He is still great, just cannot do two things at once...Jessica will single handedly bring down the Cowboys...

Hey Cowboys Fans,
You're still 12-2 and you only have a couple things to worry about. 1-Playing at GB in January. 2-The fact that all three INTs were going to TO. The man can't shut his mouth an he can't be ignored. Was Romo forcing those passes? Personally, I blame Jessica and her perfect rack.

Posted by David M. @ 6:51 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

LOL, welcome to the Overeaction blog...

Fire Wade, and Jason Garrett, they can't coach. Bench Romo ans start Brad Johnson. we'll never win again!! Jerry should just move the team to San Antonio! We should just forfiet the rest of our games! Not going 16-0 and winnig every game by 30 points is a failure !!

Get a grip !!

PaulC & oneonone are morons!

Posted by Malcolm @ 6:52 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

If it weren't for Romo, we wouldn't be 12-2. It was a divsion game, against a team that should have beaten the Patriots. Eagles were more hungry, battling for a playoff spot, and we have a first round bye. With that said, running the ball 14 times is a joke. Cowboys didn't match the intensity, and it's no coincidence that they suffered injuries. It always happens when teams don't play hard or look ready to play. Romo gets some blame too, but they have 2 weeks to get the offense in gear. I'm not tripping, but the game does call for concern.

Posted by Paul Reyes @ 6:53 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I blame this on Romo. He should have learned from last year when he hooked up with the other blonde. She's a distraction, and until you're married to her then he should just shy away from any public appearances with her until the season is done.

Posted by PaulC @ 6:53 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

It's not just ONE loss. It's two losses for the year. THAT is a big deal. Because Green Bay is going to win out. We have to win two games on the road. And we haven't played worth spit since knocking Brett Favre out of the game three weeks ago. The team is trending DOWN. Like every December. Until they prove us wrong in believing they are collapsing December chokers, the burden is on the Cowboys to prove their worth. Not on fans to follow like sheep off a cliff.

you people are insane! win two games and get home field advantage. I think Green bay would still rather be in the cowboys position. Are all the other teams fans this embarrassingly retarded?
This captcha bs is worse then the idiots on this blog

Posted by Kevin @ 6:54 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

It's called the "Yoko Ono Effect" or something like that. Seriously, no one except Romo can say for sure whether she distracted him today, but I am disappointed that Romo is dicking around with any chick right now, and especially someone like Simpson.

Posted by PaulC @ 6:55 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Oh, and, btw, Terence Newman, why not hold onto the damn ball next time all you have to do is walk into the endzone from about ten yards out--and change the entire nature of the game in the 1st quarter. It's easy. Just look at the Eagles. Their secondary caught it three times. And you, TNewman, have hands of bricks. You are not elite.

Posted by evo @ 6:58 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

First the Carrie Underwood loss and now the Jessica Simpson collapse.

Posted by Gary Nelson @ 6:59 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

OK here I go again. They make it hard on this blog to criticize this loser Romo but what the hell can you blame with his little pu$$y sitting in the stands while he makes a fool of himself. His outing today was pathetic and all FOX could do is show pictures of this bimbo. It reeks of last years playoffs. Romo does great until it matters. Then you get the Romo that's all full of himself and that sucks. Maybe we should trade him for McNabb?

Posted by JimK @ 6:59 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Whether it's Jessica Simpson that screwed up Romo's head or not, I think we've all seen this train wreck coming for several weeks now. They should have lost last week but got lucky in the last few seconds. This was a mixed failure of the offensive line not protecting Romo, bad play calling by not running Barber and Jones more, TO dropping passes, and Romo making far too many forced risky throws. Hopefully they'll get this out of their system, work hard and finish the last 2 games on top. It's only going to get tougher from here and the Pats are only getting better.

Posted by ryan @ 6:59 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Romo needs to take the game seriously. He seems he never takes it seriously until we are behind. And now with this jessica stuff, he doesn't even seem like he cares.

Posted by Andy @ 6:59 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

CASTRATE ROMO! He has shown time and time again he can't handle a woman and being a QB at the same time.

Posted by Robert @ 6:59 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Memo Garrett.

If you have not noticed Cover 2 Man gives us problems .....

Hurd and Crayton can not stretch the field and it allows 2 safeties to double TO. We saw it plenty today ..... ergo play Austin who did that quite nicely v Green Bay.

Need to run the ball. Just do. Balance Garrett.

Posted by JR @ 7:00 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

My biggest concern is this team has not been sharp since the 2nd quarter of the GB game. That's 2.5 games of sloppy football and we were extremely lucky to win last week. Time is running short to get back on track. You can be 12-2 but if you aren't playing well the playoffs are going to end badly.

Posted by Rod @ 7:01 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Tim McMahon: What's up with all these blog posts about Jessica Simpson?

You seem as obsessed about her as Lou Dobbs is about illegal immigration.

Posted by David M. @ 7:01 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

PaulC do you enjoy anything in your life? Prob. not, you seem like the guy who is always complaining about everything. Did you expect a SB this year? 16-0? Or did Romo steal your girlfriend, then dump her for Jessica?

Posted by Drew @ 7:01 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I will say this! Romo seemed uneasy, no smiles from the sideline or on the field. Granted we never were really in this game, but in every other game we have been down I had a feeling we were always in it. Not this one, and though we will be playing in late January The Eagles still own us!!!!

Posted by Delone @ 7:01 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

We're 12-2 and got exposed, so what!!!!!!! Correct it in 2 games and hopefully by the time they expose us again we'll be holding the trophy. Better to come back to earth before the playoffs instead of in the playoffs. Mark my words, Patriots 16-0 but lose in the playoffs. Cowboys 14-2 and makes the trip to the bowl.

Posted by Rex82288 @ 7:02 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Where was the run w/ Barber!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? (no more running Julius...he looks lost and out of it)We were never down by more than 4???
The pass rush was excellent. I don't get why we hardly ever have anyone near a wideout in the flat or a te down the middle. Is our coverage that bad??
Romo was real bad today. I'm sure Jim Johnson made some adjustments and maybe his thumb was bothering him, but he looked lost out there. Hey, we are still 12-2. Win out and homefield is ours. I expect Romo to rebound. Garrett, get Marion the ball more often on the ground. Wade, sit Julius. My biggest concern is, was and always will be our pass coverage. BTW, Demarcus is unreal. And Ratliff, I believe in you son. $20M looks like a steal.

Get worried, Rom's hurt and it's not his heart. The thumb was hurt before the game.Got to get T.O. invilved from thestart. What happened to The monster back and his running game. Worry about the thumb, he can't throw accurratly!

Posted by rps @ 7:07 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

There were a lot of weird things going on today, injuries, Jessica etc. but still is scary the way the Boys have had a traditional Dec. collapse the last few years and now have looked pretty bad the last 2 games. I don't know if the pressure gets to them at crunch time or what but hope they get it together.

Posted by Bandit @ 7:07 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Comment from "Tony" is right on the mark
"Jessica Simpson is like the chick that screwed up up Redford in The Natural".
I only hope that comment about him going to LA during the week is a joke, otherwise this could be real bad. Puppy dog following the ditz all over the country.

Posted by david clarke @ 7:07 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Tell Romo to get his long-johns out, he,s coming to Lambeau in Jan. I'm sitting in Milwaukee right now. Got 7 inches of snow yesterday, 20 so far in Dec. The temp is a balmy 15 not including windchill.

Teams that go to the Super Bowl get hot in Dec. Dallas is going their usual Dec. swoon. They don't know how to finish.

Romo is developing a pattern-flash in the pan.

Posted by Jeff @ 7:09 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Joe Pessamist and whoever thought to call a football loss a "disaster":

Get a life. This team is 12-2. If we get nailed in the playoffs, we do. If we win the Lombardi trophy, we do. The worst we will do is win the NFC East, which we have not done in quite a while. To call this a disaster is typical of a sports crew. This was a football game. I really can't remember the last time Dallas was 12-2 at this point, but I still feel good about our team. Also, it doesn't matter whether Romo is getting laid by Jessica Simpson or Bart Simpson. So find another reason to call him names, especially since he was "an unbelieveable hero" 7 days ago. He wasn't a hero then and he is not a scum now. He is a football player. Have a little pride in yourself and your team guys. It is one game, es todo. No mas.

Hopefully, the Cowboy team (the ones who play the game) don't read all of this trash from tonight and realize how fair weather so many of their fans are. For the rest of us, we realize we are still in the playoffs and know Tony's hand will heal.

PaulC , I was going to give you the suicide hot line number, or recommend Prozac.

I'm not worried about the Boys, cause the season didn't end today. We are 12-2 and after disappointing seasons the last few years, I am happy with this team and what the future can bring!!

Are we perfect? No, but we are better than we have been in a long time, and I think we’ll get better!!

That's the most air-time Jessica Simpson's got in the past two years . . . go back to hollywood. Romo, get your head out of being on "Access Hollywood" and send your 'girl' packing back to California.

Posted by CRAIG T @ 7:14 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

The last two weeks JAson Garrett has done a poor job of play calling and getting T.O. free in space. I don't know if ou noticed that T.O. has not been put in motion or lined up in the backfield. Also why did he go away from the run, especially in the 4th quarter. If anything it just made it harder on Romo, as the eagles did not have to worry about the Cowboys running. The past two weeks i've been very disapointted in Jason Garrett. DONT' GET ME STATRTED ON JESSICA SIMPSON AND ROMO. HE BESTS GET IS PRIORITES STRAIGHT. STAY AWAY FROM THAT CHICKEN HEAD..

Posted by Chris @ 7:16 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Another December swoon, except we don't have Bill to blame. Jason G was thinking it was the game in Philly again and decided to get pass happy. I guess he didn't want to face the rath of Owens.
OK, bad loss, but I am more worried about injuries. Brad johnson better take a few snaps this week.
And one last thing-Romo stunk, but if Hurd made his first quarter catch or TO hung on to his 3rd Q drop, we would have beaten the Eagles.
Reminds me of the Lions game from 06

Posted by Thirtypk @ 7:16 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I saw the same look on Romo's face that he had when they played Buffalo. Romo wasn't smiling or having a good time before the game and it showed on the field. I hate that they lost because now everyone is going to say that our December slide is going to continue and that our Cowboys are not as good as the packers.
I believe Romo and our Cowboys will bounce back and hopefully we can get homefield advantage and make to the SuperBowl.

Posted by Kevin @ 7:16 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I gueass Garret takes a few steps back for the next head coach position.... Where is our running game. Did Garret forget where he came from and what he did 80% of the time he managed to get on the field in Dallas? Jason our game plan for you today play one: Hand off to #22. Play two: Hand off to #22. Play three: throw to #88 if he is covered, throw to #84. Worked for three Super Bowl seasons. We are not the Rams or the Lions, fix the running game and stick to it!!! The defense knew we were goig to come out an run it and stopped it then Garret gave up on it and never went back to keep the defene honest. I think offense watched the wrong tape of the last Eagles game. You are supposed to watch the defense not the offense!!!!!!

Posted by Lynda @ 7:17 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Romo needs to watch the movie"The Natural" starring Robert Redford....wrong game but right on concept!!Romo has his worst game ever and wonders, "da, ya think I shoulda' left Jessica in the bedroom"??????????
I watch the game to see Romo create his magic, not watch Jessica shaking her boobs on national TV...come on man, if she is worth anything, she'll still be around after football season....
You are playing football for your fans, millions of them....not to impress a single female celeb. Get it together man, it is a very short fall to the bottom. Oh, I have been a cowboy fan for over 40 yrs and was once a blond hotty myself, so kinda know what I am talking about.

Posted by Tom @ 7:27 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Tony Romo has had games like this one all year. His team has bailed him out on previous occasions. He will prove to be a liability in playoffs. I would be skeptical about the Cowboys going to the Superbowl with this guy.

Posted by PaulC @ 7:28 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

All I can say is . . . if there really is another December crash and burn, Jerry Jones will be able to talk all those $250,000 personal seat licenses for the new stadium and stick 'em real, real deep where the sun don't shine.

Posted by Not So Crazy Ray @ 7:30 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Just stepped outside to check and, rest assured, the sky isn't actually falling. Yeesh. It's not a "disaster", it's a loss. I can only imagine the angst if Matt Moore and the Panthers beat us next week.

We're still 12-2 and on track to achieve all of our goals, so everybody step back from the ledge.

Posted by davej @ 7:30 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

The team played poorly last week and got away with it, but they didn't get away with it today. IMHO, the big mistakes today:

- Romo started forcing the ball instead of taking what the defense was giving him. I wonder if he started forcing the ball to T.O. to keep him happy.

- They gave up on the running game and short passes.

- While the defense got sacks, they let McNabb escape the pocket and extend the play.

If the team learns from its mistakes, this loss is worth it in the long run. If they don't learn, there will be a quick exit from the playoffs.

Posted by steven rosso @ 7:32 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

why does this team refuse to run the ball, esp when romo is having difficulty. 14 carries between JJ and MB is pitiful. I just don't get it.

Posted by PaulC @ 7:33 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

davej,
the sad fact is this team hasn't been able to run the ball in four or five weeks. barber has been no better than jones. the team needs a big time running back. barber isn't the answer either.

Posted by Fraggy @ 7:36 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

If Romo can't think for himself when it comes to blonde bimbo's, then Jones needs to put the screws to him, and create some kind of rules that prevent Romo's self distruction and distroys the unity that Romo has achieved with his team. PLEASE TONY, WE WANT YOU BACK HAVING FUN IN THE GAME!

It's not just this game. It was also the last two. Then with four injuries including the center and the QB.. Guys, the wheels are spinning off, and then getting run over and ground into dust.

Here it comes, the usual choke. If you guys want to delude yourselves and think just this game was the problem, and you can ignore this.. Then you're obviously in denial over the way they played the last two weeks as well.

Posted by Vaquero @ 8:40 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

I am so pissed off right now. Now I'm really worried about this team. What the hell is happening here??! This was our chance to sweep these hated Eagles and be one win away from securing home field advantage in the Playoffs and these ****Eagles come here and prove to us that they wanted it more!!!! How can you not want to seize this opportunity that has not come knocking at our door since the mid nineties? What the hell has happened to our running game? Do we not have any runners?I don't know what is happening with the line on the running plays? And God forbid, if we lose Gurode for an extended amount of time we are done. Our line will collapse. We were doing so good all season? Damit, if this ****continues we will be one and done again in the playoffs this year!
This team is now walking on very dangerous ground. These next two weeks could define us for years to come. If we collapse again this December, then we will go into the records as the team that just couldn’t win when it mattered. Just like Danny White.
If they don't fix this thing, then I'm sorry to say so but this team will fall into the category of the Danny White led Cowboys of the eighties. Very good during the season, but when it mattered, they just didn't have it.
I guess we will see next week in Carolina.

Posted by cts @ 8:43 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

What's the matter with you all??? God, no wonder so many of our fans are called bandwagoneers. It's a loss. They won't win them all. They are locked into the second round of the playoffs with a home playoff game on tap.

Now think back to 2001...Clint Stoerner at QB... hideous tomfoolery of a choke in the Meadowlands. 2002 - 5-11 mess... merciful end of Campo. 2003 - Quincy Carter was our QB. Ugh.

Folks, this team has what any of us could ask for - an opportunity to advance to the Super Bowl. These are good times for the Cowboys. We should enjoy them while they last. Heck, we could still be spazzing under a coach like Campo. Ask the once proud Oakland Raiders how much fun it is to continually flounder year after year. GO COWBOYS!!!

Posted by Keith @ 8:44 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Bright side: I thought the defense played very good. I am not worried about the offense. You have a lot of talented guys there. J Johnson is a defensive genius and you knew there'd be no way his defense would be out of sorts 2 games in a row. Romo was off really today, but you gotta figure that this will only help them refocus for the playoffs. Romo will bounce back, as long as that thumb has time to heal up. Hopefully none of the injuries are serious. Cowboys have to win out now, but I think they will.

Posted by Foreverafan @ 8:44 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

She just needs to go away! Hollywood, Nick, wherever, whoever...Just GO AWAY! Kick her to the curb...she is trash, trash, trash. Her acting like that at a game, just proves it. I have never seen anyone else's wives act like that ever. No class and clearly a distraction!

Posted by Keith @ 8:48 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Just curious...how many people would have thought back in July that the Cowboys would be 12-2 and be the #1 seed in the NFC??? Yeah, they played a bad game, but they're still the best bet to represent the NFC in the SuperBowl. They just have to get everyone healthy and get things turned up on both sides of the ball for the playoff push.

Posted by Fanatico @ 8:50 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Whatever the cause, Tony Romo had an awful game. Then, where is the coaching? If your QB has shown all day that he is inaccurate, why keep calling passing plays, when you have one the best NFL running backs in Marion The Barbarian? Also, why not bring in the second string QB when the game can still be saved? Is he only there for injury-replacement? I think that winning several games in the very last plays throughout the season, has made Tony and the offense overconfident to the point they don´t care to be sloppy during the first 3 quarters. Didn´t you see Romo all-smiles through the third quarter today?

Posted by john @ 8:54 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Was there any really any doubt after Buffalo and Detroit that this team was a joke? And that's with referee aid last week. I just got back home from witnessing that 10-6 disgrace at Texas Stadium, and I'm reminded of the Bill Parcellism, "You are what you are". This is what Tony Romo is. For all the fawning fan and media reaction and his starlets du jour, Tony Romo is 0-4 at home for the past two Decembers with enormous stakes in each game. He has been dismal in all 4 defeats. If it's all about the quarterback, Romo has yet to show he's a quarterback for December or January, much less February...

Posted by vending_q @ 10:25 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Christmas List for Tony Romo:

1. Dump Jessica
2. Get Head Back in game
3. Call Carrie and beg her to come back, she has way more class than to shake her "shirt" on National TV.

Posted by Alan @ 10:45 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Dammit to hell!!!! I'm sooo pissed at this game. The fans have every right to demand perfection from their team week-in and week-out, just as the team should expect their support through thick and then. It's not that the Cowboys lost to a sub-par team, it's how they did it. The offensive effort was piss---poor, both from players and coaches. TO...shame on you for crying for the ball because it was obvious Tony Romo forced a few to you to keep you quiet. Shame on Garret for the poor play calling and Wade for allowing his star player to continue to play injured. Tony was obviously distracted with other things. When I played ball, our coaches would tells us every week to leave the women alone before game time. Come on...this is high school stuff. Where was the running game down by only 4 with plenty of football left to play?

Posted by cts @ 11:13 PM Sun, Dec 16, 2007

Alan, best point of this column. Dallas, throughout the 4th qtr, acted as though they were down by 14 instead of 4. No excuse to panic like they did. They should've taken it bit by bit instead of forcing it down the field with an injured QB. Romo was clearly off with his throws and it appears a bruised thumb on his throwing hand affected him greatly.

MBIII should be in for every single snap in crunch time. Also, with the passing game struggling and Philly in tight man coverage with aggressive blitz packages, Dallas didn't use MBIII in misdirectional runs or in the passing game.

TONY ROMO NEEDS TO LEAVE HIS PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS FOR THE OFF SEASON AND CONCENTRATE ON FOOTBALL AND THE PLAYOFFS. HOPEFULLY HE WILL LEARN FROM THIS AND BAN THE IDIOT GIRL HE IS SO CALLED DATING FROM THE GAMES! IF HE WOULD HAVE PERFORMED WELL, THE TV CAMERA WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON JESSICA HALF THE GAME, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ON HIM.

Posted by Chris @ 4:26 AM Mon, Dec 17, 2007

I too blame that dumb bezach Jessica Simpson.....nice black roots clashing with your fake blonde hair......ho. I blame Romo more for even hooking up with her.......what is he thinking. I am curious if he was out partying and not focused on the game.

TO bitching and whinning because he isn't getting the ball is getting old as well.......you could tell that pick was the result of trying to force the ball to him to stop his attitude. Take what is there.....if it happens not to be TO....oh well.

Jason Garrett....people are getting way ahead of themselves by mentioning him for head coach......he has what 2-3 years of coaching experience........he needs a little more time to simmer.........bad call abandoning the run when down by only 4 points.

Romo playing injured is admirable.....but if you can't do basic things like grip the ball.....everything will suffer....as we saw. You need to be smart and let Brad Johnson give it a go.

I take losses extremely hard.....I hope the players pain equals mine.....in the big picture, we are still 12-2 ...... finishing strong going into the playoffs will all but erase this from everyones mind. I just hope this is not going to be the December of the past 2 years......if so, it will be a short post season.

Go Cowboys.

Cowboy Fans stop making excuses for losing to the Eagles!! look it took the end of the 4th quarter against the Packers, the end of the 4th quarter against the Detroit Lions, and then finally the eagles exposed ya like the frauds you are and now your blaming Jessica Simpson!!

I predict here losses against Carolina and Washington. Im really can't wait to see the Cowboys in Green Bay for their last game of the season.

GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with JOLO, blaming Jessica Simpson for this loss is about the lamest excuse I have ever heard! These guys are supposed to be professional athletes. Just accept the fact that the Eagles embarrassed the ‘boys because they were already planning their NFC Championship party and Superbowl birth. Any other excuse is just whining.

This is probably the best thing that could happen to them because now they actually have a reason to win the next two weeks. Personally, I think they will lose one more game. However, I also think the Packers will lose as well since they end against two divisional opponents.
