To follow up on Timmy Tabloid's post, foxsports.com's Jay Glazer is reporting that that the Dolphins are also in the mix for the services of Bill Parcells. Per Glazer's story: Parcells could have a choice between the Falcons and Miami Dolphins, who have also reached out to Parcells, according to league sources. ... Several league sources say that Parcells has recently called around for opinions on coaches and personnel people. I've always been an advocate of Parcells. But whether you love him or hate him, I think we can all agree that the league is a more interesting place with the Big Tuna in the pond, and not beached on an ESPN set. |

AB,
Would emphatically second those thoughts, the man is a WINNER indeed and his old school methods still produce quality football players....with the right o-coordinator he could still win big....he is a "classic".....any team that picks him up will be the better for it!

Bill isn't going to Miami... Why not.. Because The owner is looking to Sell the team.. why would Bill want to work under a Unknown Owner... or a Lame Duck Owner.. it doesn't make sense...

I agree jtt. Haters forget that Parcells didn't even have a QB until the final 10 games of his tenure. What is that they say? You have to have a QB in this league? They like to conveniently ignore that. They also seem to assume that all these young players (particularly what is now our defensive front) came out of college Pro Bowlers and weren't young and hadn't even hit their 3rd year stride yet.
To listen to them Ratliff, Spears, Canty, and even guys like Watkins were already what they are now and Bill just couldn't get it out of them. They didn't need a few years to develop like every other player. It's comical.
And then nevermind guys like Keith Davis who everyone wanted to run out of town and who is now a Pro Bowl alternate, Marion Barber who was no more than a power back-up to Jones who's now a Pro Bowler, some dude named Jeaques Reeves who it turns out can start in this league, and Patrick Crayton who is in the top 5 2nd receivers in the league in TDs.
Bill definitely knows what he's doing.
Yeah, Bill was a failure hahaha.

Just because he didn't win the bowl here means nothing. Look at what he inherited and look at what we have now. He is a winner and I hope he jumps in for one more run.

I think he would take Tony Sparano to be the head coach in a minute. He has done a great job here in Dallas and Parcells loves him. The hiring of Parcells would not be a good thing for the Cowboys remember when he left the Patriots and took over the Jets, does the name Curtis Martin ring a bell?

The majority of the idiot press hated Parcells. But the more intelligent fans loved him, and appreciated what he did.
I really miss his insightful comments at the press conferences. And the Cowboys miss his discipline in the locker room.

Go to Miami. I don't want him building a good team in the NFC, especially if he has an owner that will open up the wallet and go after players. Question: I remember seeing something that part of Vick's bonus money will be added back to Atlanta's cap for next year, giving them a whole ton of money to spend. Anyone know the exact #?

Wherever Bill goes, let's get him off to a good start by trading him Bobby Carpenter and getting our first round draft pick back.

Bill Parcells is the salt of the NFL life..

Where did all this Parcells love come from? You guys have been in hiding for awhile.
If you accept that winning superbowls is *the* goal in Dallas, he failed miserably.
If you forget that for a minute and say "hey, perhaps we can be happy fans with just some fun, exciting football", he failed even more miserably there. Could we run the ball? nope. Could we throw down the field? nope. Could we do anything except try to play not to lose? Nope. Parcells played old players that he trusted and didn't morph his gameplan for the talent he had.
Does Parcells deserve some credit for raising the talent bar in Dallas? Absolutely. Does he deserve credit for winning? not so much.

I admire Bill, but I think it's a vast stretch to think we would have the record we have today under him. .500 at best. He just wouldn't have turned Romo loose, especially after the Buffalo game, and he never would have let the team be a passing team. And the defense would have continued to be a disaster, as the game demands unpredictability in defenses now to make it hard for quarterbacks to figure out what the coverage is going to look like, and Parcells was totally and stubbornly predictable.

Parcells was an outstanding personnel guy (and savvy enough to make it look like Jerry was making the calls.) He will be an outstanding GM for Atlanta.
Parcells shortcomings were as a coach. His schemes were convervative and predictable. He didn't fully utilize his talent.
Ironically, he has become a much better grocery shopper than chef.

Conor, I couldn't have said it better myself... He'd make a great VP/GM though.

Gota love all this praise for "The Tuna", as someone has already metioned, the knowledgeable fan base always knew what we had with Big Bill; he reinvigorated an ailing and rudderless franchise through the draft and a couple of free agent accquisitions (that would include THE FRANCHISE QB)..........and then had to sit by when the GM insisted on one TO (a year later, we could have had one RM for 4th round draft choice, maybe lower since JJ and Darth Davis are pals)......agree that BP is no offensive innovator, but he would have won this year as well, maybe going deeper into the playoffs that the current administration is likely to do (let's hope not, we are all in this boat together).
The Dolphans are ecstatic right around now (blogging from Miami) they cannot contain their glee over the ATL'S bungling the negotiations...but we should be concerned with the Tuna's wish list, for they may include some of the items in our pantry!!!
